Carl Jung talked about a process he called 'the transcendent function.' It is the resolving third principle that unifies a neurosis. In simpler terms, it is the process that reunites parts of us that are in conflict, parts of us that feel split apart. Dream analysis can do this. So can art and creativity. To be creative - to live creative too for that matter - is, amongst other things, an invitation to heal. To unite that which has split apart.
