@is-the-cybertronian-picture-cute I have some ideas on how our Botbot Care Course can do. We’ll start with general knowledge(to hold: open palm, let them walk onto it, curl fingers until barely touching bot), then more specific tips(Cupcake bots tend to have identity-based delusions, do not deny them, but be careful not to over indulge them either), live demos(hopefully with Azuri from Cosmic Wonders, since using real botbots just for teaching purposes is not okay. We will also try to get the CW café to cater the event), ending with plans for future projects(Plantbot Conservatory, seeing how rare that type of bot seems to be). What do you think?

This afternoon’s Scout Troopers meeting was interesting.

H4-GR1D wanted to teach the younglings a Care of Force Sensitive Creatures lesson. I thought it would be fun and informative, so I let him take over.

It was going really well, until he pulled out an ysalamir. It wasn’t long before the scouts figured out that if they held it close enough to Ben Solo, he would just disappear.

For professional reasons, I will say that I neither encouraged nor condoned this action.

And, yes: The scouts all got their Creature Care badges. Even the ones that got detention.

So I really hoped I would never have to do this, but I really need help. Last night my sweet, beautiful cat Creature got hit by a car. He is in stable condition at a 24 hour vet where he is awaiting surgery on monday 12/04/17. He will need to have his split upper pallet fixed, and they will be taking x-rays of his jaw to figure out if it is broken or just fractured; depending on which he my need to have an E. Tube put into the side of his neck so we can feed and medicate him. We just recived an over the phone estimate of about $5,000. We will need to pay at least half upfront and the other half when we bring him home. My family and I used all of our avalible money to pay just half of the boarding fee for the couple of days, and we all tried applying for carecredit and scratch credit but everyone was declined. So if you are willing to help we would be forever grateful, our only other ‘option’ would be to relinquish him, and we flat out refuse to lose him. Creature is part of our family. Should anyone need proof all I really have is pictures of his face, they are kind of graphic, and jars to look at, so I won’t upload them unless necessary. And when I go to the vet I’m sure I can get paperwork to prove it all too. Please donate and share if you can. All we want is for Creature to be happy, healthy, and home with his family!

[Part one]

The Hydra

Hydras are a fascinating creature. Originating in Greek tales and legends, the hydra has the unique ability to grow back its head, and when it does grow it back the cut off appendage will grow two instead of one.

The care for hydras is a very complicated thing. Like most draconian species they eats a mix of both plants and meat and are concidered to be omnivores. Do not mistaken this for meaning you can have this pet be vegan, without the proper nutrients from meat this creature will fall ill.

For habitats they mostly need a large covered space, preferably a cave with a moss bed and preferably a pond. They also need plenty of space to roam when awake and enrichment, whether in the form of toys or simulated hunting or actual hunting, stimulation is important.

If a hydras heads fight over things that can be a sign of anxiety, boredom, and excess hostility.

Be warned, hydras are territorial, while they often have a pack like bond with their other heads, they are naturally solitary beings.

A full grown hydra should eat about 50 lbs of food per head a day. When a hydra is growing ensure that there is more meat then plants, it is usually best if it is about 1/5th plants and 4/5ths meat or protein. When full grown this should change to about 3/10ths plants and 7/10ths meat or protein.

A hydras claws are important to its survival, DO NOT DECLAW THEM. Likewise if you are looking for a hydra with multiple heads for a pet, a rescue is the best option for you. While not ensuring the exact breed and a bit harder to bond with, these will often have multiple heads. If you are going to get a hatchling, be prepared for it to have one or two heads for the foreseeable future.

REMEMBER: HYDRA ARE NOT TOYS, ACCESSORIES, OR OBJECTS. THEY ARE LIVING BEINGS AND DESERVE TO BE TREATED WOTH RESPECT. HYDRA FIGHTING IS ILLEGAL, AND IF YOU ARE GETTING A HYDRA AS A GAURD OF SOMETHING PLEASE ENSURE IT HAS THE PROPER ENRICHEMENT AND CARETAKING IT NEEDS. THE REMOVAL OF HYDRA HEADS FOR UNJUST AND NON-MEDICAL REAZONS IS ILLEGAL. THESE INCLUDE:

- discipline or punishment

- training

Hydras are loving beings and are under the protection of the Magical and Mundane Creatures Protection Act, if you witness or suspect someone of violating this act and its laws please dont hesitate to call 311, the international buero of magical and mundane creatures.
