Using the structure of a story spline, I drew eight illustrations for each beat of my story as part of a pitch for my Concept Development class. This is also the color script for this short film concept.

1. Once upon a time, there were two elementary school siblings, Ret and Crenzie.

2. And everyday, they lived near a mansion where they see nobody come out or in of. Everyone in their neighborhood believed it’s haunted.

3. Until one day, The siblings decided to investigate the mansion at night.

4. And because of that, they got lost.

5. And because of that, they found a ghost and got chased by it.

6. And because of that, they got separated.

7. Until finally, They reunited and it was revealed that the ghost was actually an eight-year-old named Michael, who lives in the mansion alone with his parents. Michael thought Crenzie and Ret were burglars, but then the siblings explained to Michael why they snuck into the mansion.

8. And since that day, The siblings realized that they’ve been looking at the back of the mansion this whole time,which explains why they saw nobody come out or in of it. And it’s not haunted.

Sketches of hallway designs that will be part of my animation final. I chose to go with the first design. I’m planning on adding some statues and pedestals so it won’t look so empty.

I’ve occasionally posted concept art of a story I drew for my animation classes, but here is an animatic with some rough animation I put together of a ghost chase scene that’s part of my story. 

So my story is basically about these two siblings, Ret and Crenzie, who lives near a haunted mansion. One night, they decided to investigate it, but they got lost in it. Eventually they find a ghost and got chased by it, which is the scene I made the animatic of. In the end it turns out the ghost was actually an 8 year old, named Michael, who lives in the mansion alone with his parents. That’s a basic story explanation, yeah.

Final character designs of Michael, Ret, and Crenzie for my concept development class. I still need to draw them more so I can get used to drawing them in their new design.

I took my two characters, Ret and Crenzie, and attempted to draw them in art styles of classic Disney, cartoon modern, and Laika Studios. Then after exploring those styles, I tried to give them a better character design that fits with their personalities.
