Lyra (playing Hesty): Kenku are not naturally swimmy. Ooh, but maybe there are penguin kenku!
Andy (playing Diardi): Penku.
DM: *simultaneously* Penku.

Lyra (playing Hesty): Kenku are not naturally swimmy. Ooh, but maybe there are penguin kenku!
Andy (playing Diardi): Penku.
DM: *simultaneously* Penku.
DM: Alright, you bring Crikkit into town.
Winnifred (kalashtar bard): Should we go to the town hall?
Hesty (pixie mecha): Has Crikkit actually committed a crime?
Harriet (harefolk ranger): Technically? No. But they should apologise.
Hesty: Let's go to the tavern, that's where we first heard about the dolls.
DM: I'll roll to see if the original guys are in. Yes actually, there are a few of the men who first put you on to the dolls having a meal in the New Moon.
Winnifred: Hey, we sorted your doll problem.
DM: They look up. One backs away hastily from Gregor.
Harriet: We've destroyed the dolls and found the culprit.
DM: "You found the witch?"
Harriet: *scowls* First of all, she's not a witch, she's a nice old lady in the woods and you should leave her alone.
DM: "Oh, so you've been to her place?"
Harriet: Yeah, she gave us tea.
DM: "There you go. You drank her potions, of course you think she's harmless now."
Harriet: ...
Hunter (shifter fighter): I didn't drink the tea and I say she's not a witch.
DM: "You've been in her house?"
Hunter: Yeah.
DM: "Just as bad then. Full of magic. Put a spell on you."
Hunter: *grinds teeth*
DM: You board the Sturdy Teapot and the crew make ready to cast off. Captain Noth says Crikkit can come. They spend the trip in the cabin they're assigned. As you're leaving, Dockmaster O'Nay also lets you know how long it is now until Midnight Island disappears. I'm not certain the exact number of days...
Lyra (playing Hesty): It's just two or three we've spent on the island.
DM: Yes, but you also spent the better part of a week chasing down the pirates.
Lyra: Wait, what??
Marijn (playing Winnifred): Yeah, it was like a two and a half day trip each way.
Lyra: Oh shit, yeah.
DM: The voyage back to the mainland is uneventful. You arrive at the port town you embarked from and Captain Noth wishes you well. Adrian Hollowheart, the gnome you rescued, also travelled back with you. He thanks you again for saving his life and sets off.
Lyra: I ask, "Crikkit, what about you? You could come with us."
DM: "No thank you. I hope never to see you again. Goodbye." They leave.
Lyra: Oh. I liked Crikkit.
DM: Crikkit apologises to the villagers. One of them says, "What are you going to do with it now?"
Marijn (playing Winnifred): "Excuse me?"
DM: "We want it off the island."
Andy (playing Diardi): I say, "Uh, I don't think you have the right. The island's public land, anyone can come here."
DM: "I think we have the right to kick out anyone who comes here to harass the natives."
Andy: "No, I don't think so."
Marijn: "I think you need an attitude adjustment. You've been very rude to us when all we've done is help you."
DM: "What? When were we rude to you?"
Adam (playing Harriet): "You said I was under a spell just because I think you should leave Tersei alone. You all seem eager to commit violence. Why can't you just live and let live?"
DM: Make a Diplomacy check to shame them.
Adam: 25.
DM: They seem to genuinely take your words on board and consider them. The spokesperson says sheepishly, "We still want the kenku to leave."
Lyra (playing Hesty): That's probably fair, guys.
Marijn: "That's another thing, stop calling them 'it', they're a person."
DM: "Sorry."
Andy: "Crikkit can do what they want."
DM: Crikkit mumbles, "Crikkit would like to leave."
Harriet (harefolk ranger): Crikkit, we have a boat hired, do you want to hop on when we leave?
DM: Crikkit says, "When are you leaving?"
Diardi (bladeling shaman): Pretty much right away.
DM: "Crikkit cannot swim, so yes please. Thank you."
Harriet: Should we tell the villagers we released a devil before we go?
Winnifred (kalashtar bard): Er...
Hesty (pixie mecha): Yes, we should own our mistakes.
Hunter (shifter fighter): I think it should be on a need to know basis.
Hesty: You don't think they need to know?
Harriet: She promised she wouldn't hurt the people of the island, so they'll be fine.
Hesty: That's true.
Winnifred: *sarcastic* Ah yes, the devil promised.
Hesty: Promises by devils are as binding as the fey!
Winnifred: Hmm.
