Drunks & Dragons
CritJuice
Each are very different from the other which is what is go great about D&D cause each game is different due to the people playing it.
Critical Role has a bunch of voice actors so the RP is really on point. They usually stay on task in the game and don’t goof around out of character. Although they do mime to each other a bit so when they do goof it’s not a game distraction. They are playing 5E but their characters are ported from Pathfinder. Episodes are about 3 hours long and can be found at Geek & Sundry. They also stream it on twitch on Thursday nights.
Drunks & Dragons is a couple of friends who are really fun to listen to. They do have their goofs but I don’t find them to be a problem as the goofs don’t linger and they aren’t busy trying to one up each other on the joke. They also get back into the game quickly. They were playing 4E but have just now switched into 5E. Episodes are about 1 hour long, they are produced by GeeklyInc and are podcasts on iTunes. They also stream their sessions on twitch which are fun to watch as there is a whole lot more goofing that gets edited out and you get a jump on story as they record about two episodes when they do stream.
CritJuice is D&D but also a drinking game. There are cards that are drawn when characters Crit or Crit Fail that either help or hurt them. They do have a bit of a problem with releasing episodes consistently but it’s understandable as they are busy guys and I think it’s worth the wait. I think they are playing 4E but frankly this game seems so homebrewed it doesn’t really matter as the game mechanics don’t halt the game (or maybe they edit that out.) Episodes are a little less than an hour and they are long sessions broken up. You can find them on iTunes and just pray the next episode comes out soon (although they just released a new ep today.)
Basically I like listening/watching D&D games that I would love to join and all three of these fit into that category.
CRIT JUICE
Found what has become literally my favorite podcast ever. The guys at Crit Juice are doing it right. I wait with baited breath for each episode, and they have me hooked. Gub is the reason I’m playing a dragonborn in my new campaign. #dungeonsanddragons Keep it up, guys!!! P.S. Can we rent David out by the hour to come DM one of our sessions?
