HARLOTS - 1x04
Harlots Pride Fest Original Post
They paint the world full of shadows and then tell their children to stay close to the light. Their light. Their reasons, their judgments. Because in the darkness, there be dragons. But it isn't true. We can prove it isn't true.
~ Black Sails

@harlots-week I love you and thank you for making me do stuff.
Okay I have a question for people. I stumbled upon Harlots and I adore the cute ship between Violet and Amelia. When I further delved into the show doing some research, I found everyone talking of a wlw relationship that was between two white women, rather than the ship that’s been there since season one. My question is why aren’t there people talking about Crosswell? It’s a beautiful interracial ship and I find them adorable. I have just started season two, but I’m excited to see what’s yet to come.
Proverbs 5:3
"It's not your mother's heart you're trying to spare, it's your own"
- Violet Cross to Amelia Scanwell (Harlots, S01E07)
this is simply ridiculous. Many people have started Harlots for Fitzwells, many people only watch their scenes and maybe the reason is what you say. But you can't just paint us all with that brush. As if all the people that ship fitzwells are white ... what are you saying??? I don't like that people start Harlots for the ship, because that show is beautiful and deserves a lot more recognition. But certainly i don't ship Fitzwells because "I'm a white girl obsessed with white ships" what that means? Is that even a thing? Are you really gonna say people decide to love or not a ship by the colour of their skin? Is that a racist shit or something?
Nothing implies that I should like one ship rather than another. Nothing implies that just because the crosswells are there from before, I should ship them. It's not some kind or rule. I'm not forced to do it. I may not like them together, I may not like the characters. You can't love a ship simply because "has been around for the whole show" it also requires an outline: a story, a development, events. Those of Charlotte and Isabella involved me more and for that I ship them. (in addition to Charlotte being my favorite from season one and loving Liv Tyler since I was little, this definitely influenced me ...) So please don't create useless ship wars in such a small fandom. Ship whatever you want, don't be pissed at people who don't ship your ship. And people who come to this hashtag just for fitzwells and doesn't watch the show: PLEASE WATCH IT IT'S JUST SO MUCH MORE THAN A BUNCH OF SHIPS, IT DESERVE YOUR TIME, THANK YOU.
