Probably one of my top 5 ships of all time and i have no idea why.

Yes it is a mermaid AU, fully because Argenti is a beautiful koi fish mermaid and no one can tell me otherwise, while Velite is a pirate! (Or the equivalent of a janitor in a pirate ship-)

In this specific drawing, Velite fell overboard during a storm, and lo and behold! A beautiful merman just so happened to be passing by and decided to not let him drown- the fanfic truly writes itself.
