Hello all! I'm Crow (she/they) and I write things. Mostly horror. I have a few short stories out there in various anthologies under the pen name C. A. Larkin and (hopefully) more coming soon. You can check out the list here.

I also do some crafting (costume design, miniatures, and crochet among other things), the occasional bit of witchcraft, and some cooking. Unlike my writing, and contrary to what the infamous salmon post might lead you to believe, my cooking is not mostly horror. Only sometimes.

Mostly, this blog is a mishmash of things that interest me, updates on my writing and publication journey, things I cook, craft projects, and an eclectic assortment of things that bring me joy. My ask box and DMs are open - come say hi!

Ok but Flower Frost by @cannedcrow is one of the best things I've read. So, i made some fanart of some of my favourite scenes some details are missing cuz I drew these from memory so I hope they're still good :D most of them are sketches except the ballroom dance dream one which has lineart AND sketch art B)

I drew this yesterday. Based off a post from a Dragoart tutorial. Her name is Pelluka and she is a Romulan politician who is one of the main characters in a book I am writing. She has two adult children named Jekub and Isham. I am drawing T'Dess which is a Vulcan character and will upload her too. Probably going to digitize this eventually lol. Siren's Lure

The distress call from the trawler Andromeda was badly distorted. "Found— stranded— attempting rescue." Then the signal cut out, and the ship dropped off our radar.

There's no sign of the Andromeda now, but we’ve found a survivor. I track her in glimpses between breakers that toss the Coast Guard MLB like a toy. A pale arm, a bright orange life vest. She hasn't grabbed the ring buoy — likely shock or hypothermia.

I lean over the railing as we ease closer. She catches my hand easily. Icy fingers clamp tight around my wrist. I shout reassurances over the gale as I try to pull her up, but something resists.

Lightning splits the sky. In the flash, I finally see her clearly.

Her faceless shape was only plausible from a distance. Not a life vest, but puckered flesh shifting in hue like cuttlefish chromatophores. Not a hand, but a grasping tendril. In the murky water below, in place of a torso, a tapering stem stretches unfathomably deep.

My scream is lost in the wind. Spires of needle-like teeth breach on all sides as a swirling black abyss opens beneath the boat. 

The jaws snap shut.

Cold, crushing saltwater.

Silence.

Somewhere above, the tempest rages, and the anglerfish lure resurfaces.

Aww thank you! I'm still relatively early in the process of getting things out there, so I just have a few stories published. Here's what I have out currently, with links to the publication. Hit a personal writing milestone today - 50 story submissions to anthologies and other publications! I started sending stuff out in 2024, and I'm proud to see how much easier the process has gotten for me. The first few were so, so incredibly daunting. I'd spend hours making sure my cover letter was just right, agonize over formatting, and second-guess every call for submissions ("An anthology of sapphic horror about vampires? Well obviously they won't be interested in my horror story about a queer woman in a very gay relationship with a vampire. No, this can't possibly be what they're looking for.") It's still a bit stressful to send things out (fear of rejection, my old friend), but practice has made it so much easier.

My goals for publication are set as a number of submissions/queries rather than number of acceptances. It takes a little of the pressure off and puts whether or not I make the goal entirely in my own hands. I managed 7 submissions in 2024, 22 in 2025, and have already sent in 21 in the first two months of 2026 - well on track to make it to 100 total by the end of the year!
