So you think you like Oreos?
We all know how I feel about Oreos. Truly, one of my goals in life is to try every stupid flavor they put out. This week at Craft Night, we brought a bunch of the ones released over this summer since I haven't been able to eat them, plus some bonus ones that may or may not be questionably elderly. But first, the night's other selections.
Jones Soda Co. Nuka Cola Quantum
This tasted exactly like a blue otter pop. A melted, carbonated blue otter pop. I absolutely could not drink a whole one (though that's true with basically any soda), but we have shot glasses in the garage for this very reason. Pretty good!
Jones Soda Co. Sunset Sarsaparilla
Pretty good sarsaparilla! I like root beer. Everyone enjoyed this one.
Amos brand 4D Gummy Mermaid Jewels
One person said they smelled like bath products. They were correct. but they tasted okay. The texture on these is a little weird, almost kind of plasticky.
Pringles Smoky Bacon flavor
The reason we had these was that @siras13 bought them to eat, tasted one, and decided they tasted too much like disappointment to eat any more. As I recall, the words were along the lines of "the la croix of bacon flavor." So they were donated to the Craft Night cause. Later reviews included "bacon, but not bacon enough" and a very accurate comparison to breakfast ham rather than bacon. @crowscriven thought they were a good amount of bacon (or ham) flavor for a chip. Me and some others wanted more out of them.
This one involved a significant let down, because at least half of us had expected these to have poprocks in them like the Fireworks Oreos do. But no, the name is misleading. My next thought was that the creme looks like toothpaste, which people agreed with. It smelled vaguely fruity, and very much like an ice pop. The overall flavor was also very ice pop, a bit candle-like, but by far not the most candle-like Oreo we've ever tried. It was okay. One person said it "wasn't revolting or anything; like, I wouldn't reach for them first if there were other Oreos, but they're okay." I scraped apart the creme layers and tried them individually: that blue raspberry really does a lot of heavy lifting to make these things edible, in my opinion.
These are really good. The cookie really does taste like a pancake, somehow. They smell overly sweet, but it's milder to the taste. They're really good with the bacon Pringles. Breakfast flavors!
These are some of my favorite Oreos ever. I love them so much. The graham cracker cookies are so so good. I've made s'mores with them, and those are great too. Truly cannot recommend these enough, and I'm glad they're becoming an annual thing.
Selena Gomez Horchata-Inspired Chocolate-Cinnamon Creme
These are also some of my favorites. Hence why I still have them, when they came out last year. I have at least one more of these big boxes, plus a smaller box without the Double Stuf filler packets. The cinnamon and the different-but-really-good chocolate cookies and the condensed milk flavor--I love them. Really really good. I'm glad I have a stash.
These are less of a flavor and more of a coin flip on color. I originally bought them to bring to my SWRPG game nights so we could open them to assign dark side/light side points for the session, which I maintain would have been a fun way to do it (though perhaps it was a good thing we didn't end up doing that, considering the dark-light ratio in that box). But alas. We carry on. I only have a couple of packs left, which got tossed in the Selena Gomez box. They taste like normal Oreos with extra food coloring. One thing I can compliment the company on is these stay fresh packs, which have indeed kept them fresh! (They are over two years old at this point (how does time slip away so fast.))
