Cyprus is a small island in Europe. And you may or may not know there are more cats than people on the island.

Now I just want to bring the attention to the cruel behavior of many people towards stray cats. I don't think I can count on my fingers the amount of dead cats I see on roads on a daily basis. People run over them without looking back. I've seen and heard situations where people run over them on purpose.

This behavior really keeps me up at night. I can't seem to be able comprehend why anyone would ever do such a thing.

Now I just want to spread the horrible reality that Cyprus is not just "an island with thousands of cats" but a place where stray cats are being killed and treated in terrible ways.

Hey Zaza. I have Aspergers (one of the symptoms is you can't tell if someone is being sarcastic or dropping subtle hints). My parents constantly get mad or make fun of me for not being able to look into their sarcastic comments or if I take their jokes seriously. It really hurts and makes me feel very emotionally abused. I don't know what to say or what to do, and often I confine myself to my room or don't say anything in order to prevent being mocked and ridiculed. What can I do?

omg turtledove, i’m sorry to be blunt, but your parents are jerks! what kind of ppl make fun of someone’s disability? and their own child no less!?!!?!  i’m so so terribly sorry that you got stuck with such insensitive parents. i hope time flies quickly for you, and moving out is on the horizon.

when dealing with cruel family members, it can be helpful to remind ourselves that their opinions don’t matter. to know that no matter what they say, think, do, it’s all about them and their issues and has no bearing on us. the more emotional distance you can get-the better.  stay strong turtledove, it won’t always be this way. and you deserve so much more respect. *hugs*
