Ok I haven't seen my crush since like One Of The Worst Nights Of My Life (info under the cut) and I'm seeing them again tomorrow because we're going on a trip with school...
I got a serious stomach ache about this.
I already wrote some sort of thingy about it. But basically we went out with a group of people a few weeks back. Stupidly I decided to ask my crush if I could sleep at their place for the night. Because that way I wouldn't have to worry about taking the last train home.
My crush already knew I fancied them, and I knew nothing was going to happen between us. (other story, another time maybe) But once we got to their place my crush got sick immediately. Thanks to the alcohol. I felt super awkward and didn't really know what to do, they just shut themselves in the bathroom and there wasn't much I could do. I asked them like 5 times if they needed anything but they kept insisting they were fine. So I just changed and got into my bed on the floor.
When they were feeling better it all seemed quite alright, we chatted a bit about random stuff till at one point the fact that I fancied them came up.
I, too, was feeling the alcohol a bit. I sure as hell hadn't gone as far as them, but I was at the stage where I was tired and a bit sad and dramatic. So I told my crush that I regretted telling them I liked them, because ever since they figured that out it all got much more awkward.
Extra info: My crush had told me that they did like me too, but that it was all a bit fast and that they needed more time to figure out what they wanted - as they weren't ready to commit to a relationship or anything. (Not that I asked for that.) Which was all fine by me!!! I'd told them to take the time they needed and that i wasn't expecting anything. (I was hoping for sure, but not pressuring them or anything.)
After I mentioned that I regretting admitting that I liked them, my crush immediately got stressed. Telling me they never meant to hurt me or do any harm, but that it was all too much and too fast. I tried to calm them down by saying it was alright. I wasn't pissed at them or anything, just sad that it changed our dynamic.
My crush said they were seeing someone else (which later turned out not to be true) to which I replied that they could've told me that before. (it seemed smt that had been going on for a while.)
My crush got really sad and started crying because they didn't want to hurt me. They said they knew I was very broken already and that they feared they would make things worse for me.
I assured them I'd be fine. I mean, it's not like we were dating. After all it was just a crush. But they didn't really believe it. Then they started telling me that they did like me. Only the problem was that I was too fucked up for them, that my backstory was too much for them too handle. That I was too much. Too negative. Too broken. They told me I couldn't be loved until I fully loved myself.
They said I was more broken than I realised and that I needed to heal from that first.
My crush knows like a little bit of the basics from my background.
And I know it can be heavy, that I'm not the easiest to deal with. But the way they just kept going and telling me how fucked I was, how broken and how they just couldn't handle it. It just hurt so much. Because my biggest fear is that no one will ever be romantically interested in me because of my trauma. I'm always scared of being too fucked up, unlovable. And my crush just started this whole speech in which they just said all the things I always feared.
I started crying. (bcs alcohol and sad) And I just couldn't hold it in. But I kept assuring them I'd be fine. I was still able to communicate and I was crying but calm and it didn't REALLY hit me in the moment because I was so exhausted from the day and just a bit in shock honestly. This caused them to spiral so badly.
We tried talking about something else as a distraction but my crush was just not calming down. I don't know exactly what it was, but the conversation was too heavy for them and they just couldn't cope with it all and started panicking. I kept trying to calm them down and reassure them that it was ok. but nothing i said was good.
The anxiety caused more sickness for them. And this basically went on for the entire night. (Like so much more happened but the story is too long already lmao) I went home really early in the morning and haven't spoken to them since.
