Hot tea
Ask: Tea is what’s needed here
( @crxastrid )
it’s a rare sight, finding the young slytherin girl taking refuge in the castles large great hall. when it was full and bustling with life, its daunting size and history were easier to ignore. but now, occupied by only a small handful of students ( all going about their own business—homework, socializing or simply using it as a means of finding a little quiet, alone time the same way astrid was ), she found her eyes wandering far too long, mind beginning to think about things she shouldn’t.
she wondered how her parents were doing, back home in their manor. she thought of her brother, the one true constant in her life who was now anything but constant since their partings. she missed him— she missed them all, but she couldn’t deny the ease her mind felt denying to return home this holiday season.
it was her most welcomed change.
so maybe, the interruption was needed, something to take her away from spiraling into heavier topics and bring her back to a surface level. it startles her some, her eyes momentarily widening as she looks for the newcomer, her body relaxing at the sight of a somewhat familiar face. she’s seen the ravenclaw around before, an older girl pretty eyes.
“it’s rude to sneak up on others,” she rushes out, sounding a little harsher than she’d intended, a cough coming out muffled by the crook of her arm in hidden embarrassment. “but…i suppose you aren’t wrong, i can never seem to stay warm no matter what in the winter. something warm would be nice.”
By this point, the great hall was mostly empty, but Claire had noticed a familiar face sitting alone and looking deep in thoughts. It also looked slightly somber to her, so she decided to head over and see if there was anything she could do to help the other girl. That was perhaps very nosy of her, but she’d say it’s just genuine concern and wanting others to be happy (which is also a truth). With one tea pot cradled between her hands and two cups floating behind her and following her, she made her way over to where the girl was sitting and made her presence known with a cheerful “tea is what’s needed here!” even though she doesn’t know if the girl even likes tea or wants any.
The slightly harsh reply doesn’t deter her although she does look apologetic as she sincerely says: “I’m sorry, I really didn’t mean to startle you.” People often tell her that she walks too quietly for her bright personality and she thinks that it must be because she dreams of finding dangerous beasts to study so of course she would have to be quiet during those times. She sets the teapot down and the cups settle down on the table, one in front of Astrid and the other in front of Claire (who has been sitting down across from the other girl), seemingly on their own.
“Is it not warm and cozy in the Slytherin common room? I suppose that dungeons may not be the warmest place in the castle…” she says as she pours the tea into the cups. She had never thought to ask her Slytherin friends about the temperature in the dungeons, but now that there was an opportunity to learn something new, she had to ask. “I don’t know if you will like it…it’s just green tea, but it’s really good and it should warm you up. Also, that’s healthier than a shot of whiskey if you ask me.”
