After reading the story I imagined a survivor named Rowan who felt like they belonged naturally in the world of Dark Water

Rowan is a quiet traveler and field medic who has survived many hardships. Instead of chasing glory Rowan chooses to help others carrying medical supplies old journals and the hope of rebuilding wherever the journey leads Every scar tells part of the journey but kindness is what defines this character

This artwork is my own original interpretation inspired by the story and the incredible writing of @cryptidwritings. Thank you for creating such an inspiring world

Hello, and many thanks, @cryptidwritings, for your interest in Lost Woods. The question has been growing mushrooms in my inbox, I'm afraid. (°ー°〃) Apologies for that.🍄🍄(don't touch, they might be gooey)🍄🍄

Lost Woods is probably my biggest. most ambitious project, in that it contains the stories of adventurers spanning four different eras within the timeline of its universe. There is a lot of lore concerning gods and heroes, monsters and a cosmic calamity, and a changed world full of spirits and hidden crystal forests.

There's a lot that got changed about this story universe recently (it's something I started years and years ago and put on a shelf for a while), so there's still a lot I'm discovering about it. But it's currently my main WIP.

Crayon: what was your OC like when they were four years old? Were they loud? Shy? Were they the resident "weird kid" or did they get along with others their age?

At four, she was neither particularly quiet nor rowdy. She wasn't particularly shy, either, but she was a bit more cautious and clumsy than others, because her sight has always been bad. At that age, (I think! XD) that's not something other kids will care about.

It was normal for her to play outside; not like there's traffic. I like to think her favorite plays included baking mud cakes and having fake tea parties.

My current WIP doesn't even have a title, yet alone an alternative title, and most others just got stuck with the first stupid idea I had 😅

The old ones from GW days used to have songtitle titles:

Heal my Wounds only got recently renamed to Second Chances

Twisted Thorns had the title The Shining Light

Glass Shards had the working title Together Complete (a line from Arion's You're My Melody)

6. how long did you/ have you been planning?

Somewhere between 2 days and 7 years!

No for real, it's hard to tell. For example, Undeserved went from vague idea at seeing the prompt list to fully written in less than three weeks (I added a few more chapters later), but in theory his backstory already existed as part of Glass Shards, just way less detailed.

Meanwhile Glass Shards was done in a single month with very little "planning", just sprouting from some "what if" daydreams.

On the other hand, some projects have been in planning for like 1,5 years now and no progress, hmpf, while others have been in a lowkey "oh I wish I had the motivation to work on that" stage since like 2016.

8. what are some words to describe the aesthetic?

Thorns: Bioluminescent plants / thorny thickets / tree sap and fire / a peaceful valley / giant trees / flower petals

Glass Shards: a cheap inn room / the beach at sunrise / holding hands / old scars / a long road through fields

Nuisance: a pile of coins / misunderstandings / fancy clothes and canes / against the law / why me?

Undeserved: a vast steppe / a dark dungeon cell / chains and blood / a noose / no way out

Heal my Wounds: summer in the mountains / a cup of coffee / sword training / a blanket of the floor / broken glass

Red: What type of writer’s block do you experience the most?

Hm. Good question. Not sure if it's so much writer's block, as... a different fixation? I'm sure at some point it will happen again, I'll get sucked back into a game, making mods, something else.

Then there were a few chapters where I just did not know what to do. No ideas. Nothing. I don't know why.

And the longest pause between the last time I wrote (2016) and when I picked it up again (2021) was because I was so frustrated I would not be able to share with most of my friends if I didn't write in English, but I didn't feel confident enough to write in English.

Brown: Do you have a set writing space? Or do you write everywhere?

Well, I have a very not mobile desktop PC, so uh. Yeah. Kinda hard 😅

Honestly, I’d rather not. Can I get an invisibility cloak? Otherwise, just gonna roll with a ball gown like in the post linked below, lol, make the best out of it.

6. What stayed with you most from the fairytales you enjoyed as a child? Can be a quote, a detail, a character, a moral or a whole story ark.

Answered in detail here, but I just remembered another one - Jorinde and Joringel - and how I got very spooked walking in the forest close to a “castle” (it’s more likely it was the barracks nearby) - what if I turn to stone?
