Crystal Entity truly is the best name for this... thing, because what other name can properly encapsulate what this being even is?

I’ve rewatched “Silicon Avatar” (Star Trek: The Next Generation, season 5, episode 4). It’s a very complicated episode. Very complicated. Even though the plot seems to be pretty simple. There are Crystal Entities in the world of Star Trek, we’ve heard about one before – the one Lore cooperated with to kill the colonists. So, there’s to be new colony enterprise visits, but then an entity comes and everything comes to an unfortunate end – the planet is burned down, but only two people from the planet are dead, which is unusual for the entities – every encounter with whom before ended with everybody being dead. A scientist arrives. A specialist in those entities. There’s only one problem. Her son was killed by Lore’s entity, so she has a lot personal involvement and even more distrust for Data, with whom she has to work. Well, the trust is earned pretty fast, but the personal interest remains. She finds out Data has her son’s personal journals, so she asks him to tell her about her boy. Then she even makes Data speak to her in her son’s voice. It definitely wasn’t good for her, because when they met the entity, all the communication system she and Data created had gone to nothing – she just destroyed it. For her son. Then she spoke to Data again and he had to tell her, that son would have been very sad right now, because he was proud of her as a scientist.
