Nami’s Guide to Crystal Divination/Crystal Throwing
What is crystal divination? Crystal divination is using crystals and stones for divining purposes. This can be further broken down into small categories: Crystal Scrying, Single stone divination and my personal favorite Crystal Throwing. Crystal throwing is when you reach into a bag filled with numerous stones, gemstones and crystals. Upon drawing them you toss them onto a grid. Some interpret the patterns of these stones, others, such as myself, interpret where they land along with correspondences associating with these crystals.
Starting Crystal Throwing you will need a few things:
A bag large enough to place stones and crystals into to easily comfortably draw them from
A grid which can easily be printed off of online or homemade
Personally I feel the amount of crystals you have is a bit important. You need enough to get a range of readings. I personally have about 30 in my bag currently but I feel at least 15 crystals is sufficient. Now You want them to be around the same size, some may be bigger and some may be smaller but try to keep the sizes close. Some say you should only used polished tumbled stones but I use both tumbled and raw stones, I honestly think its just to protect and try to prevent scratching of softer stones.
As for the grids there are numerous kinds. I personally prefer using my homemade grid.
Mine looks as such above. I made it using a large piece of paper, purple sharpie and a ruler. I sectioned it off then using what I felt was important to me laid out where certain sections are. My sections include: emotional (health), Education, Home life, Health (physical), Mental (health), Social, Career, Financial, Family, Communication, Past and Future.
There are numerous other types of charts that you can easily find on Google to make or print out. I just personally like personalizing my charts to make it more connected to me and catering to what I wish.
Now for the crystals here’s a list of some of the crystals I know their divination meanings to and I use. Feel free to use any of these or other crystals you may have or wish to use:
Amethyst: A life change and shift in consciousness is coming. Faithfulness in love and friendships, freedom from jealousy. Warns that self-discipline and clear thinking is necessary. Focus on imagination and use it on practical goals. Relates heavily to the third-eye and divination. Vision.
Agate: Worldly success or a pleasant surprise is to come. Good health, wealth, and long life. Particularly lucky for people connected to the land such as farmers. Also strongly connected to earth signs. Consider other sides before making decisions. May signify a journey, whether literal or spiritually.
Blue Lace Agate: Healing is needed. Express your emotions honestly, you will receive favorable responses. A journey. Communications, news is to come. You need to open up to communications.
Red Agate: Health and longevity are yours.
Black Agate: Needs and will find courage and prosperity
Moss Agate: time for patience; let matters develop on their own time
Amazonite: time to embark on new adventures and start new projects. Step away from routine and explore new experiences. Life is expanding, dare a little. Take some chances.
Amber: Voyage; a chance for romance, unexpected admiration. think before passion; ways of the heart; rewards
Apatite: slow improvement, do not be afraid to ask or seek for help
Aquamarine: Beware of gossip and idle chit-chat. Do not become emotionally involved, instead keep a cool head and clear your thoughts. Socially may indicate new friends.
Arabic Stone (Calligraphy Stone): Relates strongly to alchemy and divination. Guidance is to come; guardians and guardian angels. Communication with the holy and divine. Fight through your fears. clear your mind and focus on the future.
Aventurine: Future growth and expansion are possible. A golden opportunity; good luck with risk taking.
Bloodstone: Perseverance and courage are needed; do not act impulsively. Unpleasant surprises. Unlikely illness.
Blue Calcite: You need to hold your tongue to keep the peace for now
Carnelian: a wedding may be in the future. Don’t back down in times of strife and challenges. Brings healing and better health to ones life. Allow more joy and creativity into your life; inspiration
Citrine: Celestial wisdom is advising you. Prosperity and confidence; warmth of the sun is to enter into your life. Material wealth
Clear Quartz: freedom from enemies and binding; New beginnings, fresh energies; clearly focus on your own goals. Clear thinking is needed. Honesty will bring you success. Permanence; business and career advancement
Hematite: New opportunities await
Hypersthene: take time to meditate and think, introflection; stop being over critical, relax and take a breath
Emerald: fertility or secret admirer. silence whispers or rumors. Something to look forward to. Pale in colored emerald means fading love.
Fluorite: being offered the best possible deal. Do not compromise your principles for others or money. Unreasonable wants. Beware of mistaking sentiment for the true caring.
Garnet: a letter or news is on its way. Solutions to a mystery.
Red Jasper: Pay attention to earthly affairs. Practical outcomes, don’t waste time and be straight forward in your approach as much as possible. Be down-to-earth and honest, and then you will be protected from deceit.
Yellow Jasper: Travel; receive an invitation. Love returned. Modest joy
Jasper (all): Strength, often relates to family. Nurturing is needed in this situation. Confidence can be found.
Jet: Let go of past sorrows and move on. Protect yourself from the energy vampires around you. Don’t let others drag you down.
Kyanite: You will have reason to speak your mind and opinions, but do not waste them on those who will not listen
Labradorite: The Magic Stone. sudden change of circumstances will bring you what you want. Be careful what you wish for as you may just get it.
Lapis Lazuli: Divine Favor; seek the truth. Prepare to study or do more research. Be open to intuition.
Lepidolite: shame and guilt from the past is affecting your present. Forgive yourself. Forgive others. Learn from the past and move on.
Malachite: asks you to let go of the past. Ditch any past grudges and let go of the painful memories. Move on from the past.
Moldavite: don’t worry if you feel out of step. You have unique gifts. Talents both known and latent. Dramatic change for the better.
Moonstone: go with the flow, do not force any issues. Seek emotional balance and flexibility. Be patient, don’t rush things.
Nuumite/Nuummite: listen to your inner-self, instinct
Obsidian: Hidden emotions will be brougth to the surface. Transformation and change
Snowflake Obsidian: End of challenging times. Hidden emotions brought to surface; difficult change but once must accept it. Expect the unexpected. Possibly relates to sadness
Opal: Death or Endings; unfaithful love. Open the mind, visions, good luck, and great possessions
Pietersite: Don’t be “safe” reach for the sky. Creative opportunity; inspiration. See something in a new light.
Pyrite (fool’s gold): warns about deceit and deception. Look beyond the surface, things aren’t as they appear. Beware of fake people. Lies
Dyed Quartz: Relates to lies, deceit and unwanted change
Rose Quartz: Love and self healing are needed and will come. Brings love and beauty. Friendships; emotional well-being and support. Forgive yourself for past mistakes.
Rutiled Quartz: indicates you should believe in your own abilities and look for hidden benefits in any situation
Smokey Quartz: brings calm and patience to a situation. May seem nothing is happening but change is underway.
White Quartz: profound changes are coming
Rhodenite: let go of the past; you are more important than the pleasing of others right now
Ruby: Power and passion, good fortune, and friendship. Beware of strangers
Sapphire: Truth and chastity and the past will catch up with you
Selenite: unstable situations, don’t trust appearances; be prepared for problems and change. You may have to part ways with someone.
Sodalite: protection, sleep, healing, fidelity, intuition
Sunstone: financial luck, luck in general. Enjoy the present without worrying.
All Tiger’s Eye: all is not as it appears to be. Brings good luck, protection, physical energy; growing confidence, lasting success is possible. May indicate treachery. Money. Keep focused.
Blue Tiger’s Eye: Power to attain fulfillment
Red Tiger’s Eye: You are in for a wonderful time
Yellow Tiger’s Eye: more happiness, money and health coming
Topaz: exercise caution; leadership, inspire others; don’t be too selfish or domineering. No harm shall befall you.
Tourmaline (Black): Alignments of body and life. Adjust energies; protection from negativity
Tourmaline (Pink): your inner child is in need of healing; take time to have fun. Let loose.
Turquoise: A journey is imminent; Take care of your health and personal safety. Be alert and ready to deal with problems. Solutions to mysteries
Unakite: compromise and integration. You may feel uncertain about life, but going back is a mistake.
How I throw stones personally is I take some deep breaths and ground myself. Then I think of the question I seek insight and advice on in my mind as I stick my hand into my bag of gems and swirl them around with my fingers. Once I feel a tug inside me saying to draw the handful I currently have I do and with my eyes still closed I drop them onto my grid.
I then open my eyes. If some of them bounced off of the grid i will move them onto the spaces they are closet to. If one is sitting on a line and are in two or more sections I will count it as being all of them.
