Looks like a koi fish, incredible color, incredible piece, too good to be true?That’s because it is! This Lodalite included Quartz has been infused with dye to change the duller brown and green colors, to vibrant oranges and yellows. The worse part is, this was not disclosed to us. Thankfully we knew what to look for, but at first glance, it caught us all off guard. These treatments are getting rather tricky and advanced. The color was the biggest giveaway. Usually inclusions in Quartz are not this vibrant in this color range. Amphibole Quartz is the closest, but the colors though beautiful, are more rust and maroon. The past 2 days I have seen a lot of confusion over Larvikite and if it is Black Moonstone. The answer is NO! Also, Larvikite is not Black Labradorite, even though it has the schiller (flashes) similar to Labradorite. I personally find it easier to see stones side by side to see the difference. Here is the confusion, Hypersthene is sometimes called Velvet Labradorite due to its color. It is not a Labradorite. Larvikite is sometimes called Black Labradorite or Black Moonstone. Again, it is neither of these. Here they all are side by side with Black Moonstone and Labradorite. They are all amazing stones!
