"Is he dead?"
"Of course he isn't, Red Agate. You're an idiot! Logan's asleep! He's half human and humans have to sleep!"
"But he's been "asleep" for awhile now, Charoite. Are you sure he isn't dead?"
"I am, Moonstone. Here, I'll show you,"
Charoite walked over to Logan's bed and climbed on it, getting close(but not in his personal space close) to his face. He hesitated before poking Logan's cheek a few times. The teen shifted a little, opening his eyes a bit. "What the hell?" Logan mumbled.
"See, told you he wasn't dead Red Agate!" Charoite shot back at the gem behind him with a smirk on his face. Logan cringed at the loudness of Charoite's voice, covering his ears with his pillow.
"Shhh, it's too early for this bickering," Logan whined.
"Actually, Ellie said that it's almost "noon", whatever that means," Moonstone pointed out, making Logan sit up quickly and almost causing Charoite to fall off the bed.
"Wait, did you say it's almost noon?" Logan asked as he hurriedly put on his glasses. Moonstone nodded, a bright smile on his face. Logan cursed to himself under his breath as he got out of bed and grabbed some clean clothes then hurried off to the bathroom.
After he finished getting dressed, Logan made his way to the kitchen quickly, practically sliding in there.
"Finally you're awake. I just made you some toast," Ellie commented, gesturing over to the plate next to her. Logan thanked her as he took the plate and began eating the toast, walking over to the back door to get his shoes.
Moonstone, Apatite, Red Agate, and Charoite sat on the stairs and watched Logan rush around and get ready. "Why is he rushing around the living space like a sapphire?" Moonstone whispered to Apatite.
"Beats me, Moonstone. We should ask him," Apatite replied. It looked like Red Agate was one step ahead of them as he shouted at the teen, "Hey Logan!" This caught Logan's attention, making him stop right in his tracks.
"Why are you running around?" Moonstone asked, looking over Red Agate's shoulder.
"Because I'm meeting with some friends at the library at 12:30 today to work on a project for school and it takes about 15 minutes to get there, 20 minutes if I stop for donuts," Logan explained as he started to gather his things and put them in his backpack.
"And that's if traffic isn't bad," Ellie added from the kitchen. Logan rolled his eyes, slinging his backpack over his shoulder. "Traffic's never bad honestly, Mom. Also, do mind watching them till I get back? I'll only be gone for about 2 hours," Logan asked, looking at his mom.
"Of course, hun. I'm sure they won't mind staying here either," His mom said.
"Yeah! Ellie's nice!" Moonstone added with a big smile.
"Yes, your mom is a nice human. Nicer than the ones we've met roughly 1,000 years ago but that's a story for another time," Red Agate replied. Logan nodded a bit, saying bye to his mom and the four gems as he rushed out the door.

Kai sat on the railing to the entrance of the library, playing on his phone as his girlfriend, Lauren, watched him.
"Yo, what is taking Logan so long. He usually isn't late," Kai whined, finally looking up from his phone for the first time in 5 minutes.
"Kai, it's literally 12:31 right now. He will be here soon," Lauren pointed out, making Kai groan in annoyance. Not even 3 minutes later, Logan ran up to them out of breath and leaned on the railing. He stayed against the railing until his breathing had even out before looking over at Kai and Lauren.
"Took you long enough!" Kai exclaimed, jumping down from the railing. Logan rolled his eyes, pushing himself off the railing before digging out a bag of donuts. "I got you guys donuts for making you come out on a Saturday and I have a story for you," Logan stated, giving them a sheepish smile.
"Sounds interesting, let's go inside," Lauren said, taking the bag of donuts from Logan.
"Yeah, I wanna get this done and over with so I can go home and watch The Last Airbender," Kai replied, going to the entrance of the library. Logan nodded in agreement, following Kai. Lauren was the last to follow, already eating one of the donuts.
The group sat in a secluded part of the library, a part where they could be as loud as they wanted(within reason) and get away with having food and drinks.
"So, wait, let me get this straight. Your dad is some space rock criminal and his group just showed up at your house last night?" Kai asked, clearly confused.
Logan nodded, "Well, yes. I already knew my dad wasn't human based on the gem on my wrist but I had no idea he was a criminal," He added, taking a bite of his donut.
"Wow. What did he do that, well, made him a criminal? If you don't mind me asking, of course," Lauren commented, looking over at Logan.
"To be honest, I'm not sure. Charoite says my dad supposedly shattered another gem, who was one of the rulers back where my dad, Moonstone, Apatite, Red Agate, and Charoite are from," Logan explained, "All I know is, my dad was a leader of a rebellious group about 5,000 years ago."
Lauren and Kai nodded as Kai finished the last of his donut.
The group then began to work on their project for school, until something caught their attention.

What had caught Charoite's attention was the ground shaking. At first he thought it was Red Agate shape-shifting and messing around outside again but when he looked in the kitchen and saw Red Agate sitting on the counter and talking to Ellie and Moonstone, he knew something was up.
Charoite pushed himself off the couch and went over to the nearest window quickly, looking out it. "Oh my stars...," He mumbled before dashing out the back door and made his way down to the beach. Moonstone, Apatite, and Red Agate chased after him, curious of what had cause his eye. When the three got to the beach, they saw what Charoite had saw.
There was a gem monster in the ocean a couple hundred feet away from the shore.
"What the heck is that?!" Red Agate yelled as Moonstone and Charoite summoned their weapons. Apatite rolled his eyes, summoning his own weapon. "It's a gem monster, you moron!" Apatite shouted back before dashing towards the monster.
"Charoite, you and Moonstone stay here, make sure Logan's mom is safe, and you better keep Logan away from the house!" Red Agate demanded as he summoned his weapon and ran after Apatite.
Red Agate spoke a moment too soon. Just as he ran after Apatite to help with the gem monster, Logan ran up to Charoite and Moonstone with Kai and Lauren running behind him.
"The hell is that thing?!" Logan asked when he got by them.
"A gem monster!" Moonstone answered, looking at the group of teens.
"Meaning?!" Kai questioned, trying to hide the fact that he was scared.
"Meaning a gem that came here to Earth got corrupted somehow!" Moonstone explained just as Red Agate was thrown into the sand in front of them. Red Agate stood up quickly, looking at the group behind him.
"Charoite, we could really use your double bladed sword right now!" He stated loudly before he ran back over to the monster. The purple gem let out a loud groan, pulling another sword from his gem and connected the two swords together then ran towards the ocean.
"This would be way easier if we had your father's bow, Logan. Goodness, it was the best weapon in the rebellion. One arrow could take out a single gem in a single shot. Too bad no one knows where it is," Moonstone explained, watching his fellow gems fight the monster.
Logan stood there for a moment before remembering something, quickly glancing back at his house. "Moonstone, was that bow white and blue by any chance?" He questioned, looking back at Moonstone.
"Yes, it also had blue and silver arrows that were carried in a white and blue quiver. Why do you ask?"
Logan gave a non verbal 'wait a second' to Moonstone then ran inside with Kai and Lauren.
"Mom!" That was the first thing Logan said when he ran in, looking around quickly. Ellie was pacing in the living room with a baseball bat in her hands.
"Oh, Logan, you're okay!" She exclaimed, pulling her son into a quick hug. Logan gave her a hug back, letting out a sigh he didn't even know he was holding. After the small hug, Logan pulled away, a serious look on his face.
"Mom, where's the bow and arrow we found in the woods last month?" He questioned.
"What, why? Because if you think I'm allowing you to go out there and fight that thing then you're nuts!"
"Please, Mom! It's the only way to stop that monster!"
Ellie looked at him for a moment then pointed over to the closet with her baseball bat, "It's in there. Arrows and all."
The teen breathed out a quiet "thank you" and rushed over to the closet, opening it then grabbed the bow and arrow, slinging the quiver over his shoulder.
"Kai, Lauren, you guys stay in here with my mom and Mom, I promise I won't get hurt," Logan said, looking at his friends and his mom. The three of them nodded and Logan nodded back, running out the back door.
When he got back outside, all four gems were fighting the gem monster. Red Agate had his whip wrapped around two of its arms, trying to gain any control he could. Apatite was trying to slow the monster down somehow, his nunchucks were around its neck. Moonstone and Charoite were fighting off the other two arms, protecting one another the best they could.
Logan sighed and loaded the bow with an arrow, pulling the string back and aimed it at the monster. The bow itself had glowed a light blue once Logan pulled the string back but he didn't pay much attention to it. All his attention was on the gem monster that was about 100 or so feet away from the shore.
He took a deep breath, trying to remain steady as he released the string and allowed the arrow to make its way into the monster's chest. The arrow had a faint light blue trail follow behind it, catching the eye of anyone who saw it.
The arrow hit the monster square in the chest and the monster let out a scream before poofing away, making Red Agate and Apatite fall in the water with their own screams. Logan's shoulders slumped, showing that whatever stress he had felt was now gone. He sat down on the sand, watching the four gems scurry around in the water.
A few moments later, Moonstone, Apatite, Red Agate, and Charoite made their way onto dry land. Apatite had a yellow bubble with a gem floating inside in his hands. Moonstone saw Logan on the beach and ran up to him, tackling him into a hug. Charoite joined in on the hug, smiling. Logan couldn't help but laugh looking up at Red Agate and Apatite.
Apatite and Red Agate sat down in the sand next to Logan. Both Moonstone and Charoite stopped hugging Logan, also sitting down in the sand. "No lie, you did pretty good, Logan," Apatite stated, making a gesture towards the bow and arrow.
"Well, I did take archery back in middle school but I stopped because we moved," Logan explained, shrugging a little. Kai, Lauren, and Ellie soon went outside, joining the group on the beach. Ellie sat behind Logan while Kai and Lauren took a seat on the sand in front of Logan.
"So, what are you guys going to do with the gem?" Lauren asked, pointing to the bubble in Apatite's hands.
"This," Apatite said as he tapped the top of the bubble gently, causing the bubble to disappear, "We send the gem to our rebel temple deep in the woods and wait until we find a Rose Quartz fountain so we can heal them." Lauren nodded, looking back at the ocean.
After an hour or so, Kai and Lauren left(after telling Logan that Kai tossed his backpack in the bushes by his house after chasing Logan out of the library) and Ellie began to make dinner. Moonstone and Red Agate were playing in the ocean, splashing each other with water. Apatite was inside the house, helping Ellie make dinner.
Logan and Charoite sat on the beach. Charoite was watching Moonstone and Red Agate play in the water while Logan was playing his ukulele, humming a lot to the song he was playing. Charoite found himself swaying to the music Logan played, oddly calmed by it.
Red Agate and Moonstone joined the other two about 20 minutes later, laughing and joking just like any other group of friends would. Apatite came out and gathered the four of them for dinner 15 minutes later.
After Logan had explained to the gems how eating worked, the six of them sat on the front porch and enjoyed their dinner together, the gem monster already becoming a memory.
