The first thing I've properly arted in a long while.  Who knew I'd hit a mega depressive episode after getting married and moving to Finland, huh?

Anyway, I often have this paranoid thought in my head due to a lot of negative feedback from people I shouldn't be listening to that I'm just a piece of shit who can't make unique characters... so when I hit a giant S.T.A.L.K.E.R. mood and had to draw Višnja, I considered how she and Nika are quite similar - same basic concepts like the long, dark, messy hair, light coloured eyes, usually wearing their hair in a braid down the back, among other things.  I figured this could be a nice exercise for me, especially since I haven't been drawing much at all.

And I just plain needed to really sit down and put work into Višnja's details, because even though it's very clear in my head, it isn't anywhere in physical form.

BABIES. Or rather a child.  Later in their careers (although not that much later considering Nika and Travis' relationship doesn't officially become serious until both are around 35/36) little Artyom surprises them. Nika recognizes that this may be the only time she could potentially have a child naturally (I'm sure with their nanotechnology of the super future it can be arranged other ways), she decides that even if Travis decides he doesn't want to be acting father she will still have and raise the child.  He eventually warms up to the idea (being the heated, thrill-seeking, risk-taking Aries that he is) and somehow they work out their careers with starting their lives as a family. It's currently undecided when they will marry.  Nika would decline taking Travis' surname if they did (though Artyom does take it) and I don't think they would rush to have marriage figured out in light of a pregnancy.  But Nika was raised with some traditional values from her mother, so marriage is a thing she wants eventually. Complications, complications~ (excuse the straightening I had to do.  I took the photo without realising how strange this looks when she's not leveled. Angles work okay for photos of portraits, but not for this stuff...lol)

If you liked pacific rim and you like role playing games (or not, this is a cool way to get into them), you should check out Cthulhu Tech. For starters, it's a blend of Lovercraft's Cosmic Horror, Evangelion, Cyberpunk settings, mistery, horror and action. Check out their web, it gives a way better explanation than this. Seriously, it's a great game.
