Boris At Work
He loved being the king of the CT Humane Society admin offices
Boris does not like car rides. He cries (very loudly) the entire time. The one exception was when he realized we were on our way to the office at CT Humane Society. It’s only a 7 minute drive from home, and he would wail for 6 and a half of those minutes. Until the moment when we stopped and turned right at the Cumberland Farms. Then he would quiet down, perk up and stare excitedly out the window, because he knew we were going to the office.
As you might imagine, it’s not feasible for everyone who works at an animal shelter to bring their pets into work all the time. However, Boris is charming enough that my boss encouraged me to bring him in regularly because he’s such a joy to have around. He was a staff favorite even before I was lucky enough to bring him home, so who was I to keep him from all his friends?
I’m not going to deny he could be a bit of a distraction at the office. He loved to strut around up on top of the cubicle dividers and lounge on the overhead storage compartments. He also was known to use this as the perfect position for a sneak attack - jumping down onto someones desk and chewing on their hair, drinking the coffee out of their mug, camping out on their keyboard. If their happened to be dogs in the office, he would be right in there playing like he was one of them. He actually had a pretty special dog friend, but that’s a story for another day 😍
