Y’all I just ran (jogged) a 5k for the first time in probably two years and my final time was 39:42!
For not having ran in so long I’m pretty impressed with myself for keeping it under 40 mins🥲
I just wanted to share because I’m pretty proud of myself!
Ready set go! 🐢💨
Ah the repetitions of life.
I was thinking about routine and consistency tonight.
A lot of times I associate losing weight with will power. But I feel like having a good routine helps me more than just relying on will power or deprivation. I don't just want to lose weight, but want to build healthy habits that will help me keep the weight off when I do get to my goal.
Routine turns into habit. But not all routines can become habit. The definition of a habit is an acquired behavior that becomes involuntary. Like brushing our teeth before bed. No one reminds us every night, anymore, but we still do it.
When I think about the routines I am trying to turn into habit: weighing every morning, tracking every meal.. I get reminders on my phone if I forget. How much time will it take to become second nature?
I think intuitive eating can become a habit too. But can exercise become a habit? Or will it just stay as a routine since it has to be planned and thought about before being executed?
Hm.
Anyways.. 😅 Returning to normal scheduled content--
Dinner:
K's go-to comfort meals.
I told K to pick up something from the store for dinner on his way home. He picked... hamburgers. Of course.
Starting his new job this week has taken a lot out of him, so I think he wanted a meal that he knows for sure that he would enjoy. He's the type to always order the same thing at restauarants for this same reason.
Routine: Before sitting down to eat I packed my second burger and half my roasted zucchini in a container for tomorrow! I made potato wedges for K.
UM A WHOLE BIG ZUCCHINI ONLY HAS 55 CALORIES. Did you know that???
Exercise: 5k, 3 miles
There was a lovely breeze out tonight! It was still hot out, but the wind was definitely a treat.
I suspected the breeze is from Hurricane Laura, so I was a little conflicted for enjoying it so much 😂
Slow and steady run! I am still having trouble with all the damm hills around here.
Sometimes I do feel like I could go faster or run for longer than a minute, but I need to keep it easy until this pace becomes super easy breezy.
It's basically 2 minutes of walking, 1 minute of running, repeated over and over. 🏃💨
Snack:
After my run I was craving something sweet, salty and carby. I know PBJ is juvenile, but I love it anyways. ❤😬 Don't be jelly!
End of Day Stats:
We made it!
One more day till the weekend! 💃💃
We can do it 💪😁
went out today planning to do an easy 2.5-3 miler (if my body would even let me lol), around halfway I realized that if I picked my pace up a bit I could possibly run a sub-30 which I haven’t done in 6 years......and I ran a 28:45!!! and I felt good! and I’m excited for my running this year!!!
