Raphus cucullatus or more famously; the Dodo, was a flightless relative to doves and pigeons that lived on the remote island of Mauritius and was killed off in the ~17th century by human settlers. Unlike What popculture will tell you, our general depiction of the Dodo is mostly based on eye-witnesses and telltales since no real scientific documentation was ever made.
