@cue-tee From here. Cue’s response had warranted a sneer from Mercury, an inky hand holding onto his abdomen to prevent his essence from leaking out, “I’d say I find your boldness against me admirable, if it weren’t so stupid. You know damn well you won’t be safe forever,” in obvious reference to his heart, of course; something that he had so foolishly handed over and an action he now deeply regretted. “Not so fast!” his reply came out in a snarl; he wasn’t one to just let people leave, especially when they were so close. Especially when they had something he wanted. Without moment’s consideration, he begun to quickly approach Cue, the tendril-like arms on his back reaching to grab them. So many times he had failed to re-obtain his heart, but he was anything but a quitter.

Eerie atmospheric starter #1 ☕At a quiet cafe, but unfamiliar folk are whispering and staring. 🌑Inside of a re-occurring nightmare had time and time again. @cue-tee This day was perfectly normal. Except... it wasn’t, at all. Mercury believed it to be at first, but then there were all these differences that he began to take note of. Like how the sun was showing brightly and vividly in the usual foggy, grey, and dull Manhattan, and how everything seemed so bouncy and lively and dreamy, and had warm undertones, and how nearly every person on the street was smiling. Of course, he didn’t dismiss this for everything. Perhaps it was just a good day! A good day for him, especially, with Cue at his side. He had always been so appreciative of their presence- their smile, laugh, their voice, their slight mannerisms that could be picked up on after knowing them for awhile. Mercury was very fond of the last thing in particular. The magician returned from his thoughts upon finding that the two of them were heading toward a Cafe; unusual, for dates with Cue, as he usually tried to visit places not centered around eating, because... Well, that was self-explanatory. Maybe he could take them to the park or something afterwards while the day remained as nice as it was. The door emitted a cheery ding! as he pushed open the door, holding Cue’s hand as he stepped inside. Giving the barista a polite smile, he approached the counter and opened his mouth to ask for something, but... ... Something was terribly wrong. It felt as though all of the air had briefly been choked out of the cafe and replaced with something sour, stale, and frigid. The hair on the back of his neck stood up, and Mercury suddenly found it incredibly hard to speak as the world went from warm to cold. Eyes. Dozens of them. Piercing into his back like knives. Taking a slow step back, he glanced at his robotic partner, swallowing quietly. “Cue...?”
