Harry, realizing Ron seems to covet the things he has, feigns interest in a girl to draw Ron's eye to her. Once Ron goes after the other girl, Harry makes his move on Hermione.

Fourth year really pissed Harry off, and he's had enough of Ron's BS. So, knowing that the red-headed wanker likes Hermione, Harry decides that he's going to ask her out just to make the redhead suffer. Turns out, asking Hermione to be his girlfriend was the best idea he ever had.
