Cupid's Aro — A term for aromantic people who have a notable connection to attraction, romance, love, affection, intimacy, and/or partnership. For example, this includes:

People on the aromantic spectrum who experience some level of attraction, regardless of whether that attraction is romantic or not. This includes greyromantics, aroallos, oriented aroaces, etc.

People on the aromantic spectrum who are romance-favorable, romance-indifferent, or otherwise have feelings towards romance which can’t be described as wholly averse or repulsed.

People on the aromantic spectrum who are partnering, regardless of whether they are romantically partnering or not.

People on the aromantic spectrum who experience love.

People on the aromantic spectrum who enjoy being deeply affectionate and/or intimate with other people.

People on the aromantic spectrum who enjoy aesthetics like lovecore, and/or enjoy holidays like Valentine’s day.

The term is intentionally loosely defined.

Etymology — A pun on "Cupid's arrow" and "aro" (as in aromantic).

Flag Symbolism — The stripes were taken from the aromantic pride flag. There isn’t any symbolic meaning behind the widths being different; I just found it more visually appealing with the heart.

The pink heart in the center represents connection to attraction, love, romance, affection, intimacy, and/or partnership. The grey arrow piercing the heart represents aromanticism.

The symbol references Cupid’s arrows piercing through people’s hearts, which is what the “Cupid’s aro” pun is based on.

Story idea: there are two minor gods of love whose responsibility is to inspire love in mortals. One, the Archer, is aromantic and wants mortals to just have lust and one-night stands and meaningless hookups. The other, the Shieldbearer, is asexual and wants mortals to just have relationships and friendships and emotional connections. The two are in constant conflict with each other, and all mortal love is decided by how much each god is willing to fight the other for it.

Headcanon! again

Arthur and Leon being 7 or 8 years old and Morgana being 9 i don't know their age difference ok pls don't come at me

these three playing together and Uther being So Done™

Uther being like "pls execute those kids" but also following them all the time so they won't get hurt ("Why is it that these little parasites have unlimited energy, when I'm so damn tired all the time???" "Oh please, not the stairs again...")

Leon's parents being this cool kind of parents that really care about their child but let him do whatever he wants. So while Arthur and Morgana are getting punishments from Uther, Leon comes back home and his parents just tell him if he know how worried they were and how dangerous was the thing he and his friends done etc. Also, when the thing wasn't so dangerous they just let Leon be excited about it and tell them about all amazing adventures the three had this day. And his parents are simply happy that he is happy.

Favorite activities:

escaping from Uther ("He won't find us in the dungeons!" "Oh no, he did.")

climbing the rider statue [you know, this one near the stairs] ("Not on the spear you idiot, you will break it!" "Jump, I'll catch you.")(actually they did it only once, what caused a week grounding for Arthur and Morgana, and two knights guarding the statue from then on)

theater. Uther was really surprised when they came up with something not dangerous. Well, until they decided to perform "Romeo and Juliet" with a real dagger.

visiting stables. Uther really doesn't appreciate it ("Why does he think it's so dangerous?" said Arthur sitting with his friends on the straw and literally leaning against the horse's back leg)

throwing stuff out of the castle's windows (probably at people)(no but really what the fuck??)

making impressions of the royalty, what included playing in the empty throne room. Uther never noticed their initials engraved on the back of his throne

hide and seek in the forest! including Leon The Best Hider (one time he fell asleep in one of his hiding places. Eventually the knights were involved and they were looking for him whole night), Morgana The Bored Hider ("Morgana why are you not hiding?" "Why am I not hiding?! You started seeking for us like an hour ago and you found no one!") and Arthur The Pathetic Excuse For A Seeker (really, he sucks at this and hardly ever finds others, then he gets dispirited and just yells at them to come out)

they found a puppy in the town once and took him to Morgana's chambers. They weren't really hiding him, but Uther wasn't very observant so he discovered the dog after like two weeks or some ("I know it wasn't planned but we have to visit Nemeth immediately. Pack your things." "Oh, ok... What about the dog?" "The... THE WHAT?!")

playing in the shallow river, mainly performing fights (at first with dignity, using sticks, but it always ended with them throwing pinecones, grass, rocks and everything at each other, also splashing water)

sword fights in CONTROLLED environment, supervised by Uther

horse riding lessons SUPERVISED BY UTHER

sneaking into castle kitchens (because fOr sOme rEasOn they are banned from the castle kitchens)

I’m not sure there are enough novels that qualify for this to be a viable business, but I suspect there’s a market for this:

Cupid’s Aro Books - either a bookstore or a library, where the stories either have no romance plotlines, and/or at least one of the main characters is directly acknowledged in the text as aromantic and/or asexual.

To explain what I mean by main characters, I’m going to use the Harry Potter franchise as an example. (Note that this does not necessarily reflect any theories of my own regarding characters’ orientations in this franchise.)

If a minor supporting character or antagonist, such as Dennis Creevey or Walden MacNair, were described in the text as ace or aro, that would not automatically qualify the series for inclusion in this collection.

If a major supporting character or antagonist, such as Neville Longbottom or Lucius Malfoy, were described in the text as aro or ace, that might not qualify the whole series for inclusion in this collection, but it would qualify the book where it came up.

If a main character like Hermione Granger or Delores Umbridge were described in the text as aro or ace, especially if it came up more than once and/or directly influenced the narrative, the whole series would qualify for the collection.

If absolutely none of the characters in the series dated or had crushes at all, it would also qualify. (Which isn’t to say no one could be married before the series begins - their relationships just can’t impact the plot.)
