VNC Teacher Theory (1/?)
okay just hear me out guys,,, what if Teacher is creating curse bearers or has a way to sense them?
Now I’m not completely sure how plausible this all is because of how little we still know about Naenia and cursebearers but after reading ch.46 I couldn’t stop focusing on past events surrounding Teacher and how odd his character is. I have a lot of unsorted ideas in my head so I’ve only posted the first part, however I plan to add more points later on. I don’t even have much hope for certain pieces in this theory but I find it extremely interesting and wanted to hear others thoughts on it! Maybe if we bounced ideas off each other, it will help bring us closer to what Jun is planing. Anyways,, uhhh yeah.

Here is my first point, and the one I am most confident in lmao
WHAT WE CAN ASSUME ABOUT TEACHERS CHARACTER IS THAT HE IS:
Highly self-serving.
Narcissistic, or maybe just very neutral (?).
Aspires to have more knowledge.
BREIF EXPLANATION:
Although, we don’t know much about Teacher yet; as far as we’ve seen he is mostly neutral. He doesn’t seem to involve himself in matters that he doesn’t think affect him or what he wants(?). I also would definitely say that he is a highly self-serving character. This means that if he is curious about something or thinks it will benefit him, he’s probably going to make the effort to see it through until it’s completed/no longer useful or beneficial to him. We see not only this self-serving behavior but also a blatant disregard for others with how he handled Louis (literally Louis’s whole entire life is an example). And while we aren’t sure WHY Teacher bought Noé yet; I think it still would be okay to say that going to the black market and practically bidding/shopping(?) for people would be rather self-serving too. In conclusion, we definitely shouldn’t put it past Teacher to do some morality questioning actions if he is earning something in the end (sorry if this is kind of obvious but I wanted to make sure I’m stating all this before jumping to how I think this is all somewhat plausible gejdhdkdhjdjdjdjrj).
EXAMPLES OF THIS BEHAVIOR:
Louis and Teacher’s conversation
What do we know and what can we infer?
a. Early on, way back in ch.9, we see from a conversation between Louis and Teacher that Teacher is aware of the fact that Louis has the potential to become a cursebearer or is being bothered (??) by Naenia.
b. In this conversation, we also realize that Teacher very much does not care about whether Louis turns or not. He only takes from the situation what he wants and-to a certain degree- does not care if others are harmed (although, I question if this includes Noé or not).
c. I’m assuming Teacher purposely left those materials out to make sure Louis was aware of what this was and to let Louis know that Teacher was also aware of it.
d. What exactly, does Teacher want or earn from this, though? Knowledge. We see a perfect example of this in ch.9 from his and Louis’ discussion. He wants to “observe the process and results”. And I’ve found that the one constant thing he has earned from all his actions (that we’ve seen so far) is that he gains knowledge; knowledge that makes him more powerful (i.e, working with the queen, until adopting Noé, the ‘last’ archiviste, and studying Louis, a curse bearer, before and possibly after he turned).

e. In ch.46, it’s revealed that Teacher took Louis as a baby instead of letting his family kill him. We see Teacher saying that killing Louis would be a waste. I think it’s safe to assume that he meant a waste of information that could be gained by using him. And then, a panel later Veronica specifically states that Teacher said that “there’s something he wanted to try”. This is where I think it can be brought up that Teacher might have wanted to alter Louis’s true name and might have wanted to experiment in making his own curse bearers but this will be talked about more points 2,3, and 4 because it will be based a lot on speculation.
