the homestuck epilogues and the game of thrones finale were stupid in the same ways for the same reasons, 

except the homestuck epilogue was internally consistent thematically and knew exactly what it was doing, and it was all presented in prose and pacing as smooth and sexy as any other writing in the comic.

whereas game of thrones had to be carried by just about everything other than its writing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
