<sad trombone noises>
03/16 - sitting still in traffic on Her Darkness v2.0, when BAM front wheel flys up like I'm doin' a wheelie, I slam backwards as the bike rears up and falls over, and lands on my right leg. I am surprised and confused; WTF just happened?!?
A guy in a car behind me saw the left-hand turn lane, thought it was our lane, and blammed into me...
Him: OMG I'm so sorry so sorry can I help, can I help??
Me: Could you lift the bike up off of me?
(He does, also helps me get it upright, helps me move it out of the traffic lane)
I look my beastie over to see this:
POW! say goodbye to my hardbag...slightly pushed in my high-dollar exhaust, scuffed heat shields, scuffed right mirror edge and brake handle...and apparently dislodged something in my electrical system. NBD, right? His insurance has TOTALED my 1994 FXR Glide II. I spent 19k 5 years ago to build this critter in my good friend's shop, me assembling all the stuff on the frame. I am told it can only be assessed at the current market value of a stock bike, so here's $3755, if you wanna buy it back, get the title changed to salvage and give us $853, it's yours...ugh.
Okay. Still runs, but with a glitch which I will have fixed. Everything else is cosmetic. I will buy new bags a couple of months down the road. I just want Her Darkness v2.0 running proper and returned to me.
Bikes are allowed to filter lanes on surface streets here; you can bet your ass this Kowboy gonna be doing THAT from now on...be safe out there!
