Hey all, so you know how I made that custom Sammy doll back in 2019? Well I've decided to start redoing him and Tom. I've grown a lot since I made Sammy, and I've learned a few things, so we're gonna engage our new skill set and try again! Besides that, when I originally sealed his paint job, I didn't follow instructions very well, and it's since gotten a little gummy and gross, so we're fixing that. I've sanded bits of his body so it can receive a cleaner paint job, and I've cut out a pattern to start on his clothes. I'm even considering maybe modding the face to be pointier, still debating on that. Here's where I need your help.
I'm not sure what to do for hair this time. Yes, I'm aware Sammy canonically doesn't have hair, but this is my doll, so I say he gets to have fabulous hair while cursed. The three samples I'm stuck between are as follows (from top to bottom): nylon doll hair, yarn that's unwind to be curly, and brushed out yarn (it's actually my Allison doll's ponytail). Each has pros and cons. The yarn hair takes a while to brush out, and the unravelling takes even longer, but both only require a simple glue weft job to attach to the head. The nylon is more silky and shiny (which I think reflects the inky look better), but I'd have to reroot it or make a wig cap, and I've never rerooted before. I have the needles to do it, just never given it a try. That, and once it's rerooted, I can style it with boiling water to be straight or curly. (Admittedly I've been really loving @inkdemonapologist 's take on Sammy, and that's why this is a consideration. I don't want to be a copycat, but I also want to give it a try. Need more curly haired characters in my life danggit!)
