Day six. People say shit like “My partner makes me a better person” or “gotta strive for greatness because my partner inspires me.” I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with saying those things (which is why I’ve said both of those things many, many times before). But I do think that if you’re going to say things like that, there should be some base level of understanding before you do. Like, understanding that what you’re really saying is “I am a good person, I am who I want to be, and having someone like this in my life intensifies all that positivity” which I think sometimes people lose sight of. Jenevieve is amazing. She inspires me, she supports me, and she strives with me. But that doesn’t mean I can’t inspire myself. I am who I am, and though I struggle with whether or not I’m a good person, I know I do good things and always try and be the best me possible. I do it for myself. And she acts as a reminder to be better and strive to influence others positively. I love her. To no end. Absolutely, with everything I have. But I also love myself (most of the time). I think that’s important. It’s important to motivate and inspire yourself. It’s not anyone’s job to live your life, or make sure you’re taking care of yourself. It’s your job. It’s your life. Make it great so that your partner can bask in your glory with you, not have to stress and put in work to make two lives great. #daysix #onedayatatime #mentalhealth #lifepartner #truelove #inspiration #loveyourself #cutebabydragon #luckyme
