Miss Frances? I'm done! *he listens for a response, and when there is nothing but a distant clatter he heads towards it* [16:31:35] * Desmond peeks inside the medical bay and spots the figure in there* Miss Frances? [16:32:53] * Frances spins around, startled. She claws for her discarded coat and pulls it over her bare shoulders [16:33:17] <Frances> Wh-what are you doing in here?! Get out! [16:34:08] <Desmond> I- pardon, I just finished sweeping up the hallways. Did I disturb something important? [16:36:35] * Frances grips the fabric tight, but fails to completely hide the deep, angry blue of inflammation creeping up her shoulders. [16:36:56] * Frances snarls [16:37:03] <Frances> I said. GET OUT! [16:38:09] * Frances slides off the glass medical table and advances on the now frightened Des [16:38:58] * Desmond holds his hands up* I'm going to be intrusive, but it looks like you're.. dealing with swelling? [16:39:40] * Frances bares her teeth [16:40:07] <Frances> I am fine and my health is none of your concern! [16:40:55] * Desmond looks warily at the sharp teeth and lets out a huff* Of course it's of my concern! [16:41:15] <Desmond> I'm not interested in letting one of my hosts fall over and faint from something treatable! [16:41:44] * Frances sucks in an enraged breath [16:41:58] <Frances> I said it's none of your-urgh. [16:42:25] * Frances exhales, suddenly taking on an expression of defeat [16:42:41] <Frances> What's the point? [16:44:12] * Desmond lets out a breath he's been holding, and digs into his bag* Now, can I take a look at it? [16:44:17] <Frances> It's nothing. Temporary. What do you care, anyhow? [16:44:23] * Frances recoils defensively [16:44:27] <Frances> Don't touch me. [16:45:24] <Desmond> I am only asking for permission to see it, and you don't have to let me touch it. [16:46:15] * Desmond moves into the medical bay slowly, a bit wary of Frances [16:47:02] * Frances slowly releases her grip on the fabric. Her claws had punched holes in the white coat [16:47:35] <Frances> As you wish. [16:48:27] <Desmond> Should we move back over to the table? It might be more comfortable to rest it on something. [16:49:37] * Frances nods silently, still clutching the coat protectively. She watches Desmond intently for a moment, before returning to the table and taking a seat on its surface [16:51:53] * Desmond follows her and positions himself nearby* Now, may I see? [16:52:28] * Frances lets the garment fall, revealing the inflamed blue tissue around her shoulder attachments [16:53:23] <Desmond> Ahhh- I'm not familiar with this place's people but, it looks like rejection of your cybernetics? [16:53:41] <Frances> That would be correct. [16:54:12] <Frances> My body has continuously rejected them ever since our second passage through the Void. [16:54:47] <Desmond> Mmm... my country uses cybernetics as well, but it's most likely different, so it might not work... [16:55:07] <Desmond> Void travel? That's a first... [16:55:10] <Frances> Do you mean to say that you have treated this before? [16:56:02] <Desmond> Oh, yes, there's many in my workplace who has mechanical parts. Some of them new to it. [16:57:19] <Frances> I....am not familiar with the treatment of rejection. I'm afraid I am not exactly medically inclined [16:57:44] <Desmond> I don't think my medication would work, but I might be able to try and help with yours. [16:57:55] <Desmond> If you would let me, I mean. [16:58:47] * Frances grips her upper arms and looks at the floor [16:59:15] <Frances> I would be content to simply treat the symptoms, but there is no supply of immunosuppressant [16:59:28] <Frances> I turned this place upside down looking for it. [16:59:57] <Frances> They had a supply in the Silo, but A_J......she denied me. [17:00:15] * Frances curls her lip, suddenly snapping back to the present [17:01:01] <Desmond> I haven't heard of this A_J, but that's a terrible thing to do. Especially if she's a doctor. [17:01:20] <Frances> "A doctor." Hardly. Listen- [17:02:10] <Frances> I dislike unproven methods, and you have only just arrived. You'll forgive me for not quite... [17:02:33] <Frances> ...feeling....reassured. [17:03:05] <Frances> However, I have no options here but to suffer in silence. S_K mustn't know. [17:03:25] <Frances> I told her it was no longer a problem and would not impede our efforts. And yet... [17:04:17] * Frances holds up her arm, with visible difficulty. [17:04:50] <Frances> I cannot function like this. It was bad enough that my tibia has still not fully healed [17:05:28] <Frances> I will take what I can get. [17:05:48] <Desmond> That's fine, I'd most likely be the same, especially since I am medically inclined. I'll see what I can manage, and no word of this to S_K unless it's immediately dire. [17:07:23] <Desmond> Do you mind me taking a closer look? I am, uh, a bit unfamiliar with that tone. [17:07:37] * Frances manages a grin [17:08:19] <Frances> What seems to be the matter? Are your patients not usually this particular shade of blue? [17:08:50] <Desmond> They're usually more red. [17:09:53] <Frances> Fear not, doctor. The other denizens of this world bleed red, as far as I am aware. [17:09:55] <Frances> I checked. [17:10:43] <Frances> You may look closer, but please.... [17:11:13] <Frances> Wash your hands before you give me an infection on top of this. [17:11:40] <Desmond> Of course, what kind of fool do you take me for? [17:12:13] * Desmond pulls out a scrap of paper with a sigil written on it and a vial of water [17:12:47] * Desmond uncorks the vial and drips some of the water onto the sigil, and holds it in his hands as the ash seems to flow towards the sigil and pool on top of it, leaving his hands clean as he folds up the paper and stashes both it and the vial away* [17:13:52] * Frances watches with guarded interest [17:14:04] * Desmond holds his hands out for inspection* Good? [17:14:10] <Frances> Impressive...and efficient. [17:14:16] <Frances> However, I feel you deserve to be warned [17:15:13] <Frances> S_K, and many others here, take....less than kindly, to magic. [17:16:25] <Frances> If I were you, I would take great care to keep it hidden until you are certain you will not meet trouble [17:17:01] <Frances> Friendly advice. [17:17:24] <Desmond> So the residents here, this place then is hostile to magic? [17:17:40] <Desmond> Even something as a simple sigil...? [17:18:00] <Frances> Some are. Some use it freely. I simply recommend caution, and discretion [17:19:03] <Desmond> Where would be a place that would be open to the practice? [17:19:32] * Frances barely hides the disgust that crosses her face at the thought [17:20:04] <Frances> Well, there is Katton. Though they rather dislike us [17:20:43] <Frances> The other assembly of....people....are both unsavory and untrustworthy. I would avoid them [17:21:17] <Frances> Katton is, if nothing else, safe. You may be able to trade for supplies as long as you don't tell them you are associated with us. [17:22:55] <Desmond> Huh... they don't like the company of two who'd put a doctor to clean? I'll keep that in mind [17:23:21] <Frances> Be careful, doctor. You have a great deal to prove. [17:23:22] <Desmond> Safe does mean... I won't get shot at, correct? [17:24:26] <Frances> I cannot guarantee your safety anywhere, but no. You will most likely not be shot. [17:26:11] <Desmond> Alright. Truth be told, I've never been in a war area before, so- well if you have any tips.. [17:26:38] * Frances grimaces [17:27:05] <Frances> If I learn how to avoid being dragged into a war, you will be the first to know. [17:27:27] <Frances> Until then, do try to keep your head down [17:28:12] <Frances> S_K will return soon. Have you completed your examination? [17:28:53] <Desmond> Mmm, yes... [17:30:41] <Desmond> There are herbs that are a weaker form of immunosupressants, I'll see if there's any about. I'll have to think on other possible methods though. [17:31:51] * Frances covers herself with the torn labcoat again [17:32:12] <Frances> Best of luck. And for goodness's sake... [17:32:22] <Frances> Next time, please knock.
