“Guess it makes sense that you’d fall back into all this stuff, it always did seem like you thrived while we were  with Hyperion.” Vaughn was unsurprised with where his friend had ended up landing in life. While he had taken it upon himself to forge a path with the crazy folk with the desert land, Rhys now had the deed to Atlas.

It was seriously amazing to think about, and the smaller man couldn’t wipe the grin off his face as he was witnessing things taking shape for Rhys. Though, really? It felt like his smile was almost never-ending since the pair had finally been reunited.

“Ah! There you are!” Throwing out his hands, Jack’s face broke out in a grin at the sight of the man, pleased to have found him by all accounts. Flanked by two members of Hyperion staff, he takes the other’s flesh hand without invitation, shaking it firmly as he and the other employees surround Rhys.    “So good to see you here! Rice, was it? Reice? Dammit, I hope I’m not getting that wrong.”

Temporarily distracted, a vigorous shake of head clears his thoughts, allowing him to focus on the true purpose behind this meeting. “Shall we take this elsewhere? I’m sure we have much to discuss.”

"You look like you need a refill. Got a favorite beer?” The crooked smile captures his features so effortlessly---it’s not as easy to be as tantalizing for everyone else as it is for Dima, whose embrace can be so cold and yet so sweet. Maybe if he’s lucky, there will be minimal injuries tonight---paper cuts caused by paper towels or something. He’s lucky quite a lot, given the circumstances.

Golden eyes flit to the man’s replacement arm, but they do not linger for too long. The bartender is approaching anyway (a wiry-looking guy with a lion’s mane of hair and major five-o’-clock shadow), drawn like a fish to a lure by the credit card tucked between his fingers. Dima’s smile warms into something more agreeable and less appraising.

Fuck, alright, maybe it’s his OLD AGE, but more likely it’s Rhys, makin’ him all goddamn SOFT. The moment he sees him slouch into the penthouse, there’s a smile on his face and he can feel the stress of the day seep out of his shoulders.
