I noticed last week that the first shoots of day lilies were coming up through the leaves! Each year in July I continue working on my ‘Perineal Hemerocallis’ project and 2020 will be the 4th year. . Some of the images shown were created during the Southend Festival Art Residency in 2018. The series explored the time just after giving birth, that often goes unmentioned. . We saw this buffalo the night before.... sickly & stumbling. We all knew his fate would find him that night...and we were right. In the morning we came upon this site after some amazing tracking ears. Steam was still coming from the buffalo's belly. A little gruesome, I know...but it is an up-close & personal perspective of how the cycle of death & life are inexorably tied... and merciful. A half dozen hyena cubs in the pack seemed to eat first...An amazing, rare & intimate sight. We are grateful & reverent.
