CYCLE REVOLUTION baby!
Raleigh Chopper @designmuseum #cyclerevolution (at Design Museum)
Field trip to London, from the Design Museum to the Barbican Centre for The Eames Exhibition.
The day’s field trip to London was a first for me, being my first time in London I was taken away by the busy and diverse life in the city. Being limited to the location and time, there was a lot to take in. From the Design Museum where there were two main exhibits one showing the cycle revolution; showing the history and life of the bicycle and cycling culture, looking at the way the design and culture of the bicycle has evolved relates to the concept of evolution, where through trial and error there is always continuous improvement in designing; and the second exhibit which showed innovative designs that explored various issues in various fields of study opened up my mind to wonder deep in thought about the world of designing ethically.
Off to The Eames Exhibition I was taken into a time machine, firstly knowing that the Eames lived through a period where the global community was just getting to know about each other, the world was getting to know itself and at the same time technology and science were progressing at a pace which was constant. Charles and Ray Eames explored and shared a different dimension of designing, from their famous ply bending/moulding furniture, to the way they presented complex information in a friendly and interactive manner, being able to understand aesthetics and functionality they were fortunate to explore all the terrains of designing as their contribution to design was part of the progressive growth of the world.
