naruto fanfic rambling feels below, you’ve been warned

as many times as i have suffered through cynchick’s silver lining through the years, i never learn my lesson.

i revisit her fanfiction and go “hey, you know what’d be cool, that other deisaku that she wrote to follow up perception” and then i start it and it rips out my heart and stomps all over my emotions.

when the deaths of 95% of all the main naruto characters are all described in the first chapter, especially if you’ve freshly read perception, good grief, it hurts.

(i may or may not have cried sue me)

(i always cry over silver lining, tbh. especially the ending. i should go read curtain call the final act or whatever that one’s called. it’s so good and funny and ends amazingly and nobody dies and it’s beautiful because kisame is a blue nanny and itachi is very much not dead and sakura is happy.)

i also may or may not read a lot of naruto fanfiction. with a lot of different ships involving sakura. because she kicks butt and i like to see her truly happy and moved on from sasuke because that boy might be beautiful enough to steal prizes but holy crap does he have issues the size of mount everest.

and itachi is way prettier let’s be honest here.

and kakashi might be old but i like that he’s always devoted to sakura. it gives me warm fuzzies. like at the end of perception. BEFORE HE’S KILLED IN SILVER LINING.

that fic murders me in so many ways and i only like it because i like the way cynchick writes deisaku.

will of fire is similar, but better. because only 15% of the favs die in that one and sakura kicks butt. like always. but yeah.

i used to ship sasusaku a lot when i was younger.

a lot has changed since then. i live in the fanon and blow off the canon.

because itachi lives in thousands of story threads in the fanon and is killed off repeatedly in the canon and i don’t care that he’s obviously got issues the size of sasuke’s i cried both times he died.

ALSO NEJITEN FOREVER IN THE FANON. still not over neji.

tho if we’re honest about that, i don’t think anyone’s over neji.

at least shikatema were canon in the end. that’s my greatest victory for being a naruto fan for five-ish years of my life. that and naruhina. gosh they’re so adorable.

still kind eh over sasusaku. she deserved better than him.

so let me think. it’s gotta be itasaku and kakasaku tied for first in fav fanon couple including sakura, then probably deisaku and i’ve read a heck of a ton of different pairings and nejisaku was pretty good but then so are some of the gaasaku, and kibasaku works, but i never really could get behind narusaku. way too much rooting for the sister/brother vibe to ship it. but i can pretty safely say i’ve never read a kisasaku, peinsaku, minasaku, jirasaku, and i was about to say i’ve never read a hidan and sakura one but now i can’t remember if that was them or maybe it was a background hidan x temari in a gaasaku i read a while ago.

huh.

long story short, the naruto fanfiction world is a big, black, endless hole that you should never allow yourself to fall down otherwise you’ll find yourself shipping kakashi and sakura after sakura had a thing with itachi while sasuke chats up hanabi and naruto and hinata get married and you realize that your life is really weird.
