No I have not. Honestly, except for some vague mentions of Mythmoot that I see on my dashboard, I've never even heard of any... They're like conventions, right? Just specific to the Tolkien fandom?

Would it be a wise idea to avoid Tumblr entirely after around December 10 to avoid Battle spoilers? Since the movie'll be released at different times for different countries...

If you can manage to keep yourself away from this madhouse for that long, lol. I, personally, use Tumblr Savior (I know it works on Chrome and Firefox, I'm not sure about other browsers), and have blocked every version of the Hobbit movie spoilers tag that I could think of.
