Not every card related to an archetype has to share something in their name to be treated as part of the group. Simply by how their effects work, a card will officially become part of the archetype due the obvious support they will provide to their strategy. They might lose some interactions with other cards due missing the label, but depending of their several uses is a cost worth trading for their vital role in the whole Deck.
"D Cubed" is a small creature that interacts with the Destiny HERO archetype and their setups by using its abilities to assist them. If Normal Summoned "D Cubed" will be treated as a Destiny HERO, not an outstanding effect yet can have some key uses for certain plays arround these HEROs. But "D Cubed" will mostly be known for its second effect, which allows us to discard up to two cards to summon a new copy of itself for each card used, but in return we will be restricted to only be able to summon Destiny HEROs for the rest of the turn (We can still Set monsters). Finally, if "D Cubed" is defeated by any destructive source, we will be allowed to mill out a Destiny HERO from our Deck to the Graveyard. Overall "D Cubed" is far from a threat to confront other enemies, but rather use all three of its abilities to prepare the many preparatives this archetype can work with.
With the ability to summon copies of itself as long we have cards in hand to spare, all we have to focus is to summon a single "D Cubed" to obtain its assistance. If we really want its ability to become a Destiny HERO, "Gear Gigant X" might be our best candidate to add it to our hand and be Normal Summoned afterwards. If we ignore "D Cubed" Normal Summon effect however its options increase considerably, with cards like "One for One" and "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" among others allowing us to summon it straight from our Deck. Although "D Cubed" can summon copies of itself, we can slightly reduce its cost by instead summoning them by "Machine Duplication" thanks to its lack of any stats to make it a valid target. Obviously a "D Cubed" in the Graveyard will be brought back by other copies, but nothing stop us from using cards like "Kinka-Byo" and "Masked Chameleon" to revive it and work together as materials in all sorts of summons.
The effects of "D Cubed" are exclusive for the Destiny HERO archetype and their many mechanics, specially due restricting our summons arround those monsters if we summon other copies with its ability. Being treated as Destiny HERO might have some uses with some unusual cards and effects, but combined with the ability to summon other "D Cubed" copies will make them the main materials of "Destiny HERO - Dogma" by meeting all its summoning conditions and obtain its ability to halve the opponent's Life Points right from the first turns of a Duel. If "D Cubed" is brought to the field but doesn't become a Destiny HERO, instead we can summon "Destiny HERO - Plasma" with the abilities to negate effects and steal opponent monsters as equipment. Otherwise the "D Cubed" treated as Destiny HERO can become material of some Fusion Summons, like "Destiny HERO - Dangerous" using this "D Cubed" and another copy for its arrival or "Destiny HERO - Dystopia" if we can spare another Destiny HERO. Discarding cards to summon copies of "D Cubed" might become expensive, but be aware that since can summon them from the Graveyard we can discard said copies to be immediately revived in the process. But don't be afraid of discarding Destiny HEROs to use this ability, as combined with the milling effect of "D Cubed" if defeated we can quickly setup members like "Destiny HERO - Celestial" and "Destiny HERO - Malicious" and their Graveyard effects. Otherwise, cards like "Galaxy Cyclone" and "Breakthrough Skill" among others can become decent cards to use on "D Cubed" effect due their ability to use secondary effects from our Graveyard.
Overall, the entire purpose of "D Cubed" is to prepare one of the many goals Destiny HEROs will try to aim for. Its ability to summon all its copies at once will make them the main materials of either "Destiny HERO - Dogma" or "Destiny HERO - Plasma", and in some particular cases become Fusion Materials for specific archetype monsters. Discarding cards to summon its copies can be riskful, but due the Graveyard interactions among Destiny HEROs and the opportunity to discard "D Cubed" copies for their own summon mitigates the cost. If anything, due the purpose as material "D Cubed" will have in most circumstances, the ability to mill Destiny HEROs when defeated will have very rare uses unless our opponent interrupts our setups arround this monster and its copies. Unfortunately "D Cubed" might suffer from some competition depending of the focus arround our Destiny HEROS, like "Scapegoat" and "Fluffal Mouse" able to summon "Plasma" without any big costs, or searchable options like "Dark Grepher" allowing us to fuel the Graveyard. But overall is a solid choice that tries to cover several aspects of the archetype of its own, and even if has its flaws it will have a valuable role from early to late game.
Personal Rating: B
+ Becomes a Destiny HERO when Normal Summoned + Allows us to discard cards to summon its copies + If destroyed will send a Destiny HERO from our Deck to the Graveyard + Several interactions with the archetype going from preparing big summons to fueling the Graveyard + Graveyard sinergy and able to revive its own copies mitigates its discard cost
- Since is not a Destiny HERO unless by its effect will lose support from many cards arround the archetype - Discarding cards might become riskful and/or expensive - Milling effect might have rare uses - There are better alternatives depending the focus of our Deck
