Hello! I hate to have to do this, but I'm going to have to put Will on an extended hiatus for Nanowrimo! I'll probably be back before the hiatus is over but I'm choosing the long one, just in case I end up needing more time. Thank you! <3
It’s the most wonderful time of the year; Nanowrimo, that is! It always sounded like a whole heap of fun to participate in, but also a lot of work! We hope everything goes smoothly for Nanowrimo and that you have a blast! For now, Will will be on hiatus until December 5th. Good luck and see you then!
Looks like you’ve gotten your signals all mixed up! The party isn’t until next week. Besides, you wouldn’t want to party without our good buddy Lance, right? Or Koga? Nah, you’re right; they’re both squares. They’d kill the vibe. Please show the world just how the people in Johto do it by following everyone on the Masterlist!
Shani: She is alright at singing. She has a huskier edge to it and it’s not “classically” beautiful but it’s distinctly her. She pretty much only sings when she’s playing her kalimba, which is an instrument that can make many people sound good.
Janine: Singing is not one of Janine’s talent. She’s done quite a bit of voice training for herself over the years but she’s never done it for singing so she can actually get very self conscious. She will not willingly sing.
Lee: Despite what most people would assume, Lee actually is very naturally talented at singing. He’s had no professional training, but most people are rather surprised that that voice comes out of that mouth. While it is something he could use to his advantage, he’s actually a little embarrassed about it and doesn’t sing very often outside of the shower or alone.
👊 — fighting
Shani: Shani thinks she’s a great fighter and while she is, her strength lies in wrestling and fist fights. She has no technical skill and has never trained professionally, so her style is messy but strong. So while she could crush many people in the ground, she could probably be easily overtaken by a trained, professional fighter.
Janine: On the opposite end, Janine is not all that physically strong but she’s been trained to fight her whole life. More accurately, she’s been trained for self defense but she’s been known to worm her way into a fight or two. She’s fast, agile, and has precise aim in her blows, making her a formidable opponent. She prefers long range combat, as her lack of strength becomes prominent once you get closer.
Lee: Lee doesn’t have strength or skill but the kid has tenacity. He can hold his own in a drunken bar fight out in a dingy alley buuut he’s also lost quite a bit of those in his life. But considering he knows he’ll lose with Pokemon, he tends to go to fist fights as his go to battling.
The Ruins of Alph were littered with mysteries, explorers, researchers - frequently visited, and yet endlessly elusive. The area was familiar to those native to Johto, though they drew in plenty of foreigns, eager to catch a glimpse of the Unown or to try their hand at uncovering something new.
Frankly, it was Falkner’s belief that there was nothing new to be found. The ruins were built over 1500 years ago; all records of their purpose destroyed. Perhaps a forgotten relic lay in the depths. Perhaps it once served as a temple for one of the gods.
Legendaries, many would insist. They are just pokemon, like any other.
A common belief now - but he’d been raised with the ideology that they were more. Ho-Oh, Lugia…they helped create this earth alongside Arceus.
But his religious views were not what brought him back to the Ruins.
Falkner sat atop one of the numerous pillars. It was riddled with cracks and missing chunks - no doubt Morty would yell at him for perching in such a precarious place.
The top was wide enough for two people to sit snugly, and Taji nested next to him. Her eyes were half closed, beak tucked underneath her wing in content. It was here Falkner had caught her as a Natu - the second pokemon he caught on his own. Alongside a peculiar child. William Westcott -
- now a member of Johto’s Elite Four.
Funny, how life tends to tie the fates of individuals together. When Falkner first met Will, he’d been a scruffy foster child, drawn to the Ruins by the flocks of Natu and Xatu. It’s what drew Falkner to the place originally as well. He’d never been allowed to make a habit of venturing off on his own - his mother fretted over his health, and his father rarely traveled ( taking the meaning out of “I’ll take you with me when I visit the other cities” ). It was a miracle he’d managed to make it out of the house without either of his parents noticing. With nothing but Piiko, still a small Pidgey at the time, he’d made a beeline for the Ruins. And ran into another vagabond child.
Though both in the League, Falkner couldn’t recall the last time he’d spoken to Will. Both endlessly busy with their duties, he supposed. It didn’t bother him much - he’d never been good with people anyway. Maybe Will didn’t even remember their brief encounter all those years ago.
“What about you, Taji?” he inquired absentmindedly to the Xatu. “Remember dear William? He had a Natu as well. Thea, if I recall? Don’t think he caught her here. No…” He frowned, struggling to recall events that far back in his life. Had the boy visited his father’s aviary? Picked up the pokemon from there?
With a soft exhale he pulled himself out of the reverie and focused on the tangerine sunset before him. This is what he’d come for. A warm breeze tousled his hair and Falkner closed his eyes, leaning back on the support of his arms and smiling. Moments like these caressed his mind with rare tranquility. He wished he could see himself, silhouetted against the darkening sky atop a crumbling ruin. An unusual sight, no doubt.
Attuned to the strange sounds of the area, Falkner easily picked out the unnatural. Footsteps approached - quiet and cautious, but there nonetheless. Odd - most abandoned the Ruins at dusk out of superstition, and not many people came around this time of year anyway. Curious, he leaned his head over the pillar to watch the approaching figure.
Some people say I'm psychic~. Well, they will. Or...I Will. Ha. Ha. Ha.
What’s that supposed to mean? You’re not—uh… You’re going going to—Uhm. Well, ahah, as long as you don’t reveal what I did last summer, you’re free to follow everyone on the Masterlist. (please don’t tell)
