The air around the hallways was cold, singling to subject 94, that he was most likely alone for the moment. No warmth from the bodies of panicked staff. He wasn’t let out of his cage too often, so he was quite enjoying the calm stroll, if only the flashing red lights and sirens would quiet down. Being a man light on his feet, he made almost no sound of footsteps as he wandered.
Surly his doctor was with Suho. The man had managed to sweep the glasses wearing woman off her feet. Not that it mattered much to him. Patients using their charms to manipulate their doctors was more common than much of the staff noticed.
While 94 might be quiet himself, there seemed to be someone following him who was not quite as quiet. Turning a corner, Sehun waited until his stalker rounded, holding his breath.
As soon as the man came around the corner 94 let out his breath sharply, a gust of wind created that would surely knock any man off his feet.
Unless… that man was subject 12. Unmoved and unamused, 12 glared up at 94.
“Your breath stinks.”
94 stared down at the smaller man. It had been years since he'd seen him, and he'd heard from some of the other subjects that him and subject 99 had gone missing.
“It’s been how long since you’ve had that gag on, and now that it's finally gone, that’s what you have to say?” 94 sent 12 a small glare, turning back towards the way he was walking.
12 simply shrugged, following once more.

The two continued wandering the maze of the compound, still with no sign of any other people.
“Do you think… everyone else just left?” Sehun wondered.
“...perhaps.” 12 replied.
Sehun felt a lump in the back of his throat at the idea of being abandoned. Then he paused.
“Wait, i thought you had escaped with 99?” He asked. At first 12 didnt answer.
“...88 came for 99, and took him and a couple of the doctors to safety. He was supposed to come back for me but, I haven’t seen him. He hasn’t returned.”
“Shit.”
“Yeah, pretty much.”
After more wondering the compound, Sehun was beginning to get anxious.
The two stumbled upon the doctors areas, all still completely abandoned. The office rooms and the labs, lights only half turned off and papers scattered haphazardly. Samples still in microscopes and needles simply forgotten on the counters.
“Guess they really got out of here in a rush.” Sehun scoffed.
12 wandered to one desk in particular. He quickly recognized the neat handwriting on the notes. Doctor B. He glanced over the notes. Mostly, ideas on ways to persuade subject 04 and bragging about how well behaved he was.
Oh, you fool.
12 smirked, turning over one of the pages to find a profile on himself.
Oh you great fool. You only ever saw what you wanted to see.
12 was broken from his thoughts by a hand on his shoulder. Looking up, he made to shrug 94 off, when his gaze fell to a shaking young man in a lab coat just across from them, a gun in his hands.
“Well doc, you're the first other living person we’ve seen in a while.” 94 scowled at Doctor B.
“How the hell have you bastards done it?” Doctor B was clearly frazzled, the man’s eyes wild and his body shook with fear.
After all, 12 was standing before him, free.
“Done what? Got here? We walked.” 94 rolled his eyes.
“No you stupid animal-“ B was cut short as 12 stepped forward, complete terror flashing in his eyes. “DON'T YOU DARE STEP ANY CLOSER OR I'LL SHOOT YOU DEAD RIGHT HERE.”
“...okay.” 12 placed his hands in his pockets, staying in place. He picked up his foot, scratching at his ankle casually, before slamming it back down in a stomp.
94 braced himself on the table, doctor B however, had no such luck.
The man let out a blood curdling scream, as a great chasm split the floor, swallowing the young doctor whole. The earth sealed together once again, leaving half the room just slightly higher than the other which was now sloped down, tucked under the higher side.
“What an asshole.” 94 huffed, dusting himself off. The pair jumped as a horrible snapping sound was heard, and then a gushing sound of gas.
“We need to go. The structure isn’t stable anymore. I doubt it’ll collapse but any pipelines may be done for.” 12 began briskly walking out of the room.
“Well damn, i wonder why?” Sehun quickly followed.
Taking a turn from the doctors quarters, the pair came to a quick stop.
“Is that… is that the main entrance?” Sehun marveled.
12 didn’t hesitate in sprinting forward, the taller man hot on his heels.
When they arrived, they found the door blocked, unable to be opened.
“We’re underground, they must have gotten everyone out and then buried the exit.” 12 explained.
“Okay well, you bust them open, then.” Sehun replied. He let out a whistle, creating a small twister below his feet which held him aloft.
12 nodded, walking up to the door and breathing deeply. He planted his feet firmly, and placed his hands on the blocked door.
The entire compound shook. A chill ran down Sehun’s spine as he watched the walls begin to crumble. In slight fear of getting crushed, he floated closer to 12, waiting just behind him as the floor began to crack.
Gritting his teeth, 12 let out a hiss. He was relatively certain they had caused a cave in, something big enough and deep enough to bury anyone left behind. Including any bodies crushed in the tunnels. The doors cracked and bent, finally creating a pathway another maybe hundred feet. 12 fell to his knees for a moment, panting.
“You alright?” Sehun commented, still a little too worried to come down from his little twister.
“I just moved several dozen tons of rock without lifting a finger. Forgive me if i need a moment to catch my breath.” 12 snapped.
Sehun just shrugged, finally stepped down and letting the twister dissipate.
The pair walked down the tunnel, finally coming to a dead end. Before letting out a whine that they were trapped, Sehun felt something rustle his hair. Looking up, he saw a speck of light. A shaft up to the outside world.
“Finally, where i come in.” Sehun was about to propel himself upward, but 12 grabbed a hold on his shirt.
“Wait.” The man turned back and faced the way they came. The two could see the entrance to the compound. The one they had both been trapped in for years.
“This place, needs to stay buried.” 12 growled, letting his hand fall in a swift motion, causing a cave in in the hallway the pair had just been in.
“Ready now, dramatic?” Sehun flinched when 12 punched him in the arm.

Note: It took forever but here’s a sneak peak of the scenario based on this drabble I did months ago~
“Okay, um, hello. I’m (Y/N). A lot of you, or all of you quite possibly, should know me from my story about my alleged imaginary friend Kyungsoo. Well, I’m making this video as sort of an add-on to my experience with Kyungsoo. A little over two weeks ago, he came to me again. I’m not sure how or why, I just know that he came back. The strange thing is, though, that since then he hasn’t tried to speak to me. I will just see him standing, watching me. I was taking a shower last night and when I stepped out and put a towel around me, I saw him in the reflection of my mirror. He didn’t do anything to me, though, he just stood there and smiled at me. It’s the strangest thing, and I’m petrified beyond belief…”
For the next month, Kyungsoo watched me. He watched at any and every time he could. I didn't even need to see him to know that he was watching. What made me the most paranoid is the unknown reason that he came to me after so long. It had been years, why did he only show up now?
I didn't want to wait to find out what he wanted, so I put out a cry for help on the same Reddit thread. I went further into detail on Kyungsoo; what he acted like, looked like, the abilities he had, so on and so forth. I thought I would never receive an answer, not until one Thursday evening around dinner time.
“Hello, are you Ms. (Y/N)?”
“Ah, I am. Who are you?”
“My name is Professor Greenberg, I’m a mythology expert from the University of Berlin in Germany. If I may, can we speak privately for a moment?” My roommate left the man and me to talk more inside the house. He had a briefcase with him, with unknown contents. However, once he spoke I became horrifically aware of what he had inside.
“I understand that this is a very strange thing, a random professor finding you and asking to speak with you. I would like to talk to you about your friend Kyungsoo. I’ve started following your story when one of my students emailed it to me, and I think I can help you.” He reached into his briefcase and pulled out newspaper articles, drawings, all sorts of pieces of paper I had no idea how it related to Kyungsoo.
“Have you heard of a Wallow, Ms. (Y/N)?” I shook my head no. “Stories of Wallows dates all the way back to ancient Egyptian times. It’s a form of creature, a form of demon if you will, it preys on the innocence of children. The gist of the legend goes a Wallow will take the form of a friendly, human face and befriend the child, gain their trust, and once they have that they will slowly start to drain the child's lifeforce, that is how they continue living. These cases are all nearly identical, your case, however, puzzles me.”
Some of the photos he had were what looked as if they were ancient paintings, black scribbles marked on some unknown surface. Others looked as if Michelangelo himself had painted them. On the surface, they seemed like works of art, but upon closer inspection, the true nature of these paintings were revealed.
A visual of what seemed to be a Purgatory-like place was the setting for each of them, it was dark and the sky glowed with a black-ish red that you would only see in such a place... And then there were the children, countless children that appeared to be dead, or in a death-like state. Their cheeks hollow, their eyes dark, their bodies... Fragile and lifeless. The things responsible, however, were simply a splash of black paint with snow white eyes. They didn’t seem to be hurting the children, though, they were simply hovering over their bodies. Draining their life from them, if I had to guess.
He then pulled out countless news articles, most of which were cases where the child simply vanished, never to be found again. A few of the articles were also about some parents being to blame for the disappearance of their children. I grabbed one of the articles and began to read.
Mother of Missing Child Say Creature is to Blame
… “I don't know what it was, all I know is that the second I made eye contact with it I knew its intentions were pure evil. In those pure white eyes, I knew that I had to be standing before the devil himself. I thought he was just an imaginary friend, but he was so much more than that. He took my baby from me, he took him and he’s never coming back to me… I have to live with that the rest of my life. Knowing there was nothing I could do to save him.”
“Your case confuses me because in almost every case I’ve read of a Wallow, the child is abducted. You were never abducted.”
“Well my parents saw him that night, maybe they scared him off!”
“No, impossible. Even when a parent or guardian has seen them, they always take the child. That's one thing that doesn't change about the stories. Also seeing as how he is appearing to you now that you're a woman, it puzzles me even further. I've done endless amounts of digging, yet I cannot find one similar to your case in the least.”
It spurned me to hear that he couldn't explain what was going on with me. He couldn't explain why Kyungsoo was still around me, nor why he didn't take me with him.
“You said almost.”
“Pardon?”
“You said almost every case you’ve read involves the child being abducted. What about those other cases?”
He appeared frazzled, but then reached back into that briefcase and pulled out a file. He handed it over to me, a bit of apprehension in his grip.
“Those other cases, I know of only one. His name is Yixing, Zhang Yixing. In that file, you will find much about his life after the fact, but I wouldn’t suggest going to him. As you can imagine, he is still very scarred from his experience. He was in and out of psychiatric facilities for years, but nothing could help him forget the trauma he experienced. Thankfully, though, his tormentor has never returned, and that is where your case gets confusing.”
“What do you suggest I do? I-I don't know what to do…”
I looked at the file in my hands, the only known person to be in at least a similar situation as I. He looked normal—until I started turning pages and seeing his body. His body was covered in scars, from his shoulders down to his knees were countless scars. There was also something written on his chest, but what it said I couldn’t decipher. I wanted to reach out to him, to talk to him and hear about his experience, but I knew I shouldn’t.
“I'm going to keep digging, don't lose hope so soon (Y/N). I have a colleague who is helping me research, I promise you we will find something. Until then, be safe. We will be in contact.”
Summary; whilst running from your ability of seeing the dead, you stumble upon a handsome man with wide eyes and a heart shaped smile, who just so happens to be what you’re running from.
A/N: This is long overdue, I sincerely apologise. I lost motivation and I’m not happy with this chapter at all! Also, I want to just say, that this is a Kyungsoo au, however Chanyeol will feature in it a lot. He will not play a love interest but he will have a very important role in the story, and more exo members may make an appearance too! Is there any other members you would like to see?
Anyway, enjoy this shitty chapter. The ending is important though.
prologue part one
You woke up the next morning to the sound of people speaking. You sat up groggily, and rather confused as you rubbed the sleep from your eyes before getting out of bed. You grabbed your phone and walked slowly out of your room, to see Kyungsoo sitting on the sofa watching the television. He was currently watching Let’s Fight Ghost, and you could see Kim Sohyun an Ok Taecyeon currently fighting off a ghost. You had seen the kdrama before, and you knew what happened in the end and that made you frown.
How would Kyungsoo react?
“Are you a fan of this drama?” you spoke quietly, but Kyungsoo still jumped slightly before turning around and giving you a sheepish look.
“You scared me,” he turned back to the television before answering, “I began watching it before… you know. I never got to see the ending.”
“It’s nothing special.”
“Oh well, it’ll give me something to do whilst waiting for you to come back from work. When do you go in anyway?”
You looked at the clock to see it was 8am, and you weren’t due to start until noon, as Chanyeol had informed you earlier.
“Not for another four hours.” As you said this, Kyungsoo whipped his head towards your figure and stared at you with wide eyes.
“Why don’t you go back to sleep for a little while? I’ll come and wake you up in a little while.”
“Kyungsoo, I fell asleep at like eight o’clock last night. I don’t think I need more sleep,” you chuckled as he furrowed his eyebrows and stuck his lower lip out. “Plus, I’m already awake and if I go back to sleep, I’ll wake up feeling even more tired.”
You walked into the kitchen to make yourself some coffee, before settling down on the sofa beside Kyungsoo, with a small distance between you both. You had to shower and get ready, but you knew you would have plenty of time later. You found yourself glancing over at Kyungsoo, and you couldn’t help but marvel over his beauty. His plump lips suited his rounded face, with his long eyelashes that covered his large eyes. You couldn’t help but notice the bruises around his neck, and you wondered why you hadn’t noticed them before. They were slightly faded, but still noticeable. They were a purple colour, and they looked painful. He turned his attention to you, and he quirked an eyebrow, obviously curious as to why you were staring at him.
“We haven’t had the chance to talk that much, Kyungsoo.”
“Were you staring at me, just so you could tell me that?”
At this, you blushed slightly, as he cracked a small smile. You decided to ignore him and continued, “I mean, if you’re going to be staying here then I think we should get to know each other.”
As you spoke, his smile got wider and wider and you couldn’t help but smile.
“Staying here?”
“Well, yeah. I guess. I told you this already, didn’t I?”
“Well, yeah, but I thought you just said it yesterday to keep me happy. I didn’t think you were actually being serious. So, hearing you say it… Thank you.”
“It’s no problem,” you were about to speak again when your phone started ringing. You looked at your phone to see the caller ID was Chanyeol. You had exchanged numbers the day before so you could contact each other in case of an emergency at work. “Hello?”
“Y/N! It’s Chanyeol.”
“I know, I have caller ID.”
“Oh, yeah. Listen, I was wondering if you wanted to come in a little earlier? I can teach you some stuff we didn’t get around to yesterday. I just remembered mid-day gets a little busy in here and we won’t get time to go over other things. I mean, only if you want!”
“Um, yeah. That sounds great! I have to shower and get ready, so I’ll be there in an hour or something?”
“Perfect, see you then!”
With that he hung up and you glanced up at Kyungsoo who was looking at you with a knowing look.
“Did you get called in early?”
“Yeah, I did. I’m sorry Kyungsoo, can we reschedule? Maybe tonight when I get home from work?”
“Of course.”
You flashed him a quick smile before leaving for your bedroom, where you gathered your work clothes and underwear and headed to the shower. After a quick shower, you dried your hair and applied a little bit of concealer and mascara. Within forty minutes, you were grabbing your bag and apron and heading out through the door. You bid farewell to Kyungsoo, who was still seated on the sofa watching his drama.
You made your way down the streets of Seoul. You didn’t have a car, so you relied on walking everywhere. Your apartment wasn’t far from everything, so you couldn’t complain. Plus, you enjoyed getting to breathe in the fresh air and witness the little things on the street. As you walked, you couldn’t help but feel happy. So far, the city of Seoul had been good to you. Despite only being there for a few days, you felt at home. Everything was exactly how you wanted it to be – normal, despite the fact that one of your two friends was dead, but he was kind. Everything was going as planned.
Then you saw her.
She was covered in blood. Her face, her hands and her clothes were all stained red. There was a large gash on her forehead, and she was calling out to people asking them to help her.
But of course, they couldn’t see her.
That’s when you made your first mistake of the day. You didn’t avert your eyes, you continued to stare at her. And she noticed you.
“You! You can see me!”
At this point, you tried to ignore her and walk on, but it was too late. Your heart was beating fast, and you became sweaty. She reminded you of it. This ghost reminded you of the thing that scarred you for life. It was the blood and the aggressiveness.
You then made your second mistake of the day. You let your eyes wonder to her face, and then she definitely knew you could see her. She could see the fear in your eyes as you looked at her.
“Don’t ignore me. Help me!” it sort of reminded of you of Kyungsoo, and when you first met him. When he pleaded for you not to ignore him, but this woman was much more aggressive whereas Kyungsoo’s was gentle and soft. The woman continued to scream in your face, and your heart was beating so fast, you thought it was going to explode. The more she screamed, the more you felt like you couldn’t breathe. Eventually she stopped right in front of you.
She raised her voice and screamed so loud, you were surprised no one else actually heard it. Your hand flew to your head in pain, and you could feel tears forming in your eyes. You were struggling to breathe and all you could think of was it. She placed her hands on your shoulders and shoved you, before screaming “HELP ME!” as loud as she could, and then she disappeared.
You had lowered to the ground slightly, trying to catch your breath as you held you head in your hands. The thing about ghosts was, they didn’t understand how capable they were. They didn’t know the power they possessed, and just by getting angry, it made your breath catch and your head pound.
You had no idea how long you were crouched down, but you eventually heard a man asking if you were okay.
“Miss? Miss, are you alright?” you raised your head to see a friendly looking man with furrowed eyebrows staring at you. You had actually noticed a few people staring at you, judging you.
“Yeah, um, I get really bad migraines and I f-forgot to take my medicine this morning,” is what you stumbled out as you stood, with a red face and shaky legs. You hurried off, contemplating heading home and forgetting about work. But, you didn’t want to leave Chanyeol alone, he was already waiting for you. So, you forced yourself to move on towards your work.
You made your way into the café, taking out your apron and tying it around your waist. It was pretty quiet, and Chanyeol was behind the counter wiping down the counter. You made your way over to him and he gave you a large smile. You tried to offer him a smile in return, however you were still rather shaken up from the encounter, so the smile probably looked like a grimace.
“Are you okay? You look so pale, like you seen a ghost!”
You looked at him in horror, your mouth opening and closing. He gave you a weird look before insisting he was joking, and once again asking if you were okay.
“Yeah, I just… have a sore head from the busy streets.” You honestly had no idea what you had just said, it even sounded stupid as you said it and by Chanyeol’s expression, he was probably thinking the same.
“Okay, so I was thinking maybe I could show you how to work the new coffee machine? The boss delivered it this morning and showed me how to use it, and instructed I show you too.”
“Yeah. Sure.”
Chanyeol was great at explaining things, he was patient too, it’s just your head was all over the place. You were adding too many coffee beans, you would forget to turn the machine off and you even spilled boiling water over your hands. You were just thankful that the place was quiet, with maybe one or two people who were too busy to notice you.
By the time you had gotten it right, you had a little bandage on your hand and Chanyeol was looking at you with a concerned expression.
“Are you sure you’re okay? You seem a little off, or something. Do you want to head home? I can tell the boss you weren’t feeling well.”
“No, I’m fine! I-I just, this is hard.”
He didn’t look like he believed you, but you both continued anyway. It hit noon, and rush hour came. For around two hours, you were both extremely busy. You managed to forget about the woman as you focused on serving the customers. You both had a little break, where you both got to talk a little.
“My girlfriend moved to Seoul a few years ago. She’s from the west, and moved here to study and ended up loving it, plus she met me,” he flashed you a cheeky smile and you laughed. You had found out Chanyeol had one other sibling, and was born in Seoul. When he mentioned his girlfriend you immediately asked how they met because you loved hearing stories of couples meeting. “She went to a university and we were doing the same course. I was working in this little café, at the time and she used to come in. I could never work up the courage to actually talk to her in school, never mind outside of school. But one day when she was in here, she forgot her wallet so I gave her a free coffee.
We started talking more after that and we became friends before I finally gathered the courage to ask her out. She was originally only supposed to study here before moving back to the west, but she found a job here that she loved.”
You awed at the cute yet simple story. You had never actually dated anyone as everyone always thought you were weird because you ‘talked to yourself.’
Soon after, the café became busy again and when five rolled around, you were both cleaning and saying goodbye to the last few customers before closing. You both joked around a little, and you had completely forgotten about what happened earlier. Until you looked out the window, and you were sure you seen the woman again, however when you looked back a second later she was gone. It was enough to make your heart pump, though.
At 6:30, you were both finished cleaning and were getting ready to head home. Your palms were sweating and you felt nervous about walking home. The nights were starting to get darker, so there was currently only a little bit of sun left.
“Chanyeol! Do you drive, by any chance?”
“I do. Proud owner of a Mercedes Benz g-class. Do you want a ride home?”
You breathed a sigh of relief, “if it isn’t too much hassle.”
“My girlfriend doesn’t get home until for another few hours, so it’ll kill the time for a bit. Let’s go!”
So, you found yourself in Chanyeol’s big car as you zoomed down the streets of Seoul. The journey only lasted about ten minutes, due to the apartment being so close to the café.
“Do you like Seoul so far? You just moved here, right?”
“Yeah, I did. And I love it, it’s so big and beautiful.”
“It is a nice place. Have you made any other friends yet?”
“Um. Just… one other friend,” you hesitated. “He lives in my apartment building.”
“Ah! A close neighbour. Well, if you ever want to meet my girlfriend and her friends and my friends, then seriously, just ask. We don’t mind adding an extra member.”
“Thank you,” you felt your heart overwhelm with joy. Chanyeol had been so kind to you, and the thought of having more friends made you so happy. When you arrived at your apartments, you asked Chanyeol if he wanted to come inside for a coffee or something. You felt awkward not inviting him in after he had just drove you home.
“I don’t think I could manage another coffee, but could I actually use your bathroom?”
Chanyeol looked awkward from the moment he stepped inside your apartment. When you opened the door, you were greeted by Kyungsoo’s smiling face, however when he spotted the lanky man behind you, his mouth formed a little ‘O’ shape. Chanyeol looked unsettled, as he asked where your bathroom was. You smiled to Kyungsoo as you removed your jacket and took off your shoes.
Chanyeol made his way back into the living room area and smiled, however his eyes kept darting across the room. He looked uneasy and you asked him if he was okay. He assured you he was but you didn’t believe him. His hands were fidgeting and his eyes wouldn’t meet yours.
In fact, his eyes were looking beside you. At the same spot where Kyungsoo was standing.
“Y/N,” it was Kyungsoo who spoke. You kept your eyes on Chanyeol to pretend like you hadn’t heard him, however Chanyeol’s ears seemed to perk up and his eyes finally landed on you, they were wide and full of shock. “Y/N, I think he can see me.”
You whipped your head in the direction of Kyungsoo before looking back to Chanyeol, who’s mouth was opened slightly. Your own eyes widened and your head began to spin slightly, and you couldn’t help but gasp at the next sentence that came from Chanyeol’s voice.
Prompt: “What’s the matter sweetie?” + “Hey, hey. Calm down. They can’t hurt you anymore.”

You’re running. Feet flying, heart pounding. Gasping as you look over your shoulder. You’ve never understoodthat scene in movies. The scene where the girl is running and looks back tofigure out where the villain is. He’s right behind her. Of course he isand she’s wasting precious time turning around trying to figure that out.
Despite this fact you look anyways, stumbling slightly as youscan the city streets. Nothing. No one’s there. Still, you continue to run.Still, you move until you literally can’t catch your breath and find yourselfpushing open the door to the first storefront you can find.
The place is empty. You skid to a halt, collapsing with both hands on your knees and struggling to breathe. Your eyes close as you attempt to remain calm. When you open your eyes, you realize you’re in a bar. You’re in a bar that’s mostly empty.
Except for thebartender, that is.
The guy stares back at you, eyes wide. He’s in the middle of wiping a glass - white cloth hoveringat the end of one hand. He has dark hair, nearly black, and a questioning gaze.
Hesets the glass on the counter. “What’sthe matter, sweetie?” His gaze moves to the door behind you, curiouslylooking past into the street. “Is everything okay?”
Rememberingwhy you were running in the first place, you come closer. Place trembling handsupon the counter to stare back at him. “It’s over. It’s all over.” Younotice his name tag. Do Kyungsoo. “They’re coming for us all.”
“Hey, hey.” Kyungsoomoves from behind the counter. Grips your arm to look down at you. “Calm down. They can’t hurt you anymore.”His gaze is steady, strong.
Slowly, you take a breath. “The city has fallen.”
Kyungsoo’sgaze hardens, turning him into someone else. Someone confident, who understands all of what you’ve just said. You wonder if it was just coincidencethat brought you to this bar.
The man’s gaze doesn’t waver as he grabs your hand. “Come with me.”
Kyungsoo had haunted the house you bought, he made it impossible to live there aiming to scare you till you gave up, falling in love wasn’t in his plans.

Those voices... they kept ringing in your head, you had to open your eyes, there was definitely someone in the house with you and he wasn’t invited.
“Please go away, go away” you cried in desperation.
“This is my house, no one will live here but me, you are an intruder, leave before I turn to something you won’t like”
You shut your eyes open, your limbs were weak from the lack of sleep, you took a backpack and took just the necessary, your tears fell down in desperation to get going as soon as you could.
The owl watched you, he strangely felt sorry for the first time, he’s been haunting the house for over 60 years and he never felt sorry for anyone.
“I will leave, I spent all the money I had, I finally thought I’d be happy and now this, even ghosts hate me, what did I do to deserve this?”
You stepped a step backwards stumping on something... or someone.
“Please please leave me alone I am leaving, don’t hurt me” you cried again closing your eyes “I will try getting my money back and leave”
“No! Don’t! I don’t want to see Seo Minsu again”
You buried your face in your hands when you heard the stranger’s voice too close to you, it was overwhelming just the thought of a ghost directing you talk was just not sinking in.
You titled your head to one side to meet the same guy as the day before.
“C-can you see me?” asked the ghost you nodded terrified to lie “like you can see my shape as a man?” you nodded again but when a little smile drew in his face your fear diminished “really!?” he asked enthusiastically “and the owl?”
“What owl?” you stuttered.
“I am not a white owl?”
“N-no?”
“I can’t believe my ears, she can see me!”
“Is that a good thing? Does that mean you will kill me?”
“You think I’m here to kill you?”
“No you don’t look scary, just a normal guy”
Oh but he didn’t like that last statement and his gaze turned dark again as he frowned knitting his eyebrows together.
“I’m sorry no no I didn’t mean that”
Too much to deal with, too dizzy, too incoherent… your head was spinning from the thinking, but it was nice feeling to be back on your pillow.

Do Kyungsoo built the house in hill all by himself, every inch of the house for his beloved Seo Minhae, the oldest off the Seo sisters, they looked fantastic together, they were the cutest young couple in town.
But were they? Kyungsoo loved Minhae ever since she was 12 when he saw her buying milk, her sister Minsu was only 4, her father died in war and her mother was very sick, Minhae run the errands apart from taking care of her sister, Kyungsoo followed them and learned their address, he used to wait for her bringing everyday 2 candies for the girls, they fell in love and finally after 6 years they got engaged.
Kyungsoo’s family was wealthy, but not as much as Kim Jungmo's who had an eye for Kyungsoo’s fiancee Minhae, her mother pressurised her to dump Kyungsoo and marry Jungmo instead, she was weak so ended up accepting, Kyungsoo couldn’t take it and killed himself inside the house he gave Minhae who in reality never stopped loving haunting it ever since, he saw her every time she visited the house but she couldn’t see him, and that made him bitter towards her, he couldn’t understand why she couldn’t se him, soon he learned that no one could, he couldn’t be seen and he couldn’t die when he was already dead.
Seo Minhae died… and Kyungsoo remained in the house waiting for the next visitor to terrify…

You woke up in your bed, was it a dream? Were you just stressed from the moving? The money you spent? What was it?
You looked around and found your backpack in the chair adjacent to your bed, you went to open it and it was still full with the stuff you put the night before when you were running away, you pressed your head with both hands trying to think a coherent explanation to all this.
“You weren’t dreaming if that’s what you were wondering”
You jumped on your tracks when you heard the same familiar voice, you turned around this time he was smiling.
“Peek-a-boo? Hi!” he said his heart-shaped lips coming to life.
But that was the moment when it culminated, all the stress all the fainting lately, the scary feeling of having someone watching you in your house, you bursted in tears and crouched on the floor holding onto your knees, your sobs were loud and desperate, Kyungsoo didn’t know what to do, he was very rusty treating with humans, especially trying to be nice to them.
“Wait, I-sorry, did I scare you?”
“WHAT!? DID YOU DO ANYTHING BUT SCARE ME ALL THIS TIME? WHAT DO YOU WANT? I TOLD YOU I’LL LEAVE THE HOUSE! JUST GIVE ME A CHANCE TO TAKE MY STUFF!”
“I-I don’t want you to leave, I’m sorry I scared you”
“What makes you think I’ll stay? You are a ghost that apparently I’m not supposed to see living in my house excuse me ‘your house’”
You kept crying until you felt his hand over your shoulder, strangely you really weren’t scared of him, it was the idea of him being a ghost that wasn’t of your liking.
“Who are you?”
“I’ll tell you everything, just… please don’t go”
You really sat opposite to this ghost as he told you his story, you held your pillow onto your chest and buried your face only your eyes peeking up to watch him as he talked, it was a very sad story, nonetheless having a conversation with a ghost didn’t seem coherent in any way.
“So what do you want Do Kyungsoo-ssi?”
“Please just Kyungsoo, it’s fine... and answering your question, could you maybe stay? And…”
“So you are giving me the house, are you going to be liberated and go to the place all ghost should go or however this thing works?”
“I’m not leaving my house!”
“So you are asking me to share my house with a ghost? Is that fair to you in any way? I paid good money for it, and I am obliged to pay for the next 25 years”
“And you bought it from someone who doesn’t even own it, I’m the owner!”
“You are dead Kyungsoo!”
He vanished, enraged and frustrated he disappeared in thin air, you thought that perhaps upsetting a ghost wasn’t the best of ideas, where was he? Was he watching you? Did he go? If so... will he be back? How much did he really see of you? Was it safe to shower and so on?
You kept packing to leave, the electricity went off again, Kyungsoo wasn’t being convincing at all, you saw the white owl sitting on the tree branch with big eyes watching everything you did, you knew he wasn’t happy… and you weren’t brave enough to close the curtains either...
You kept packing as if nothing.
“I can see you…”
Just ignore it and keep going, you knew it was him, he wasn’t menacing he was perhaps lonely, you were the first person he interacted with in 60 years, yes that’s it, he wanted a friend.
You took your bag and tried opening the door which seems to be locked, but it wasn’t… he was behind it, he was not letting you leave.
“Kyungsoo please, just let me go this is too overwhelming for me, I think I need a break, just please let me go!”
He let go of the handle causing you to fall on the floor.
“Peek-a-boo!”
You stared at his shadow, it was dark but his eyes glowed, they were very big and he was opening them that extra bit to look scary, and scary he looked.
“Do you enjoy this Kyungsoo? So after you freak people out you feel good about yourself?”
“Yes” he said firmly.
“Even the only person who can see you? Do I deserve this treatment? Is this the way you are convincing me to stay?”
“So can I try again?” he said now all the lights of the house working again.
You gasped at his proximity, how was he dead feeling so real? It seemed as if he breathed just like you did, his fringe on top of his head moved just like any regular person’s hair, he blinked and his eyelashes were so real, his lips, those that were never given attention as they deserved...
“You like me?” he said as you shook your head coming back to reality.
“What? W-How? What do you mean?”
“You were watching my face, my eyes... my lips...” he said with a wide open smile.
“I-no! I-just it seems you are so real, it’s strange, I never saw a ghost before”
“I’m flattered I’m your first, but you were totally checking me out, don’t worry I don’t blame you, I remember I always had the attention of all girls” he said his grin growing.
You cleared your throat and looked around to room trying to look casual.
“So will you stay?”
“Will you scare me?”
“Absolutely not, besides, I will save you the money for the alarm system, you know... let any burglar enter the house, he will regret it for the rest of his existence”
That was funny, you actually smiled and laughed covering your mouth, when Kyungsoo saw your smile a weird feeling sat on his shoulders, he felt as if his heart beat, that unfamiliar feeling of being a regular boy, he felt warmer and he felt happy, for those 2 seconds he felt alive.
“Alright Kyungsoo, I will stay, really I have no other place to go, my best friend is getting married I know she will not host me for long”
“Thank you ____”
“But you cannot come into my room, or the bathroom”
“I am a gentleman, don’t worry about it, I promise”
“Alright...”
“OK”
“So OK then” you looked at him you just made a deal but he was still standing inside your room.
“Oh yes! I’m sorry haha, I guess I will leave then”
“That sounds good to me” you replied.
“OK so I will see you later”
“Alright Kyungsoo” you closed the door behind him.
You closed the curtains and went to bed again you needed to sleep, that was al you needed you tried to think that this ghost was friendly, nothing will happen you just need to sleep...
It smelled delicious, there was actual food scent that came all the way to your room, it felt too close, dreams don’t smell this good.
“Can I come in?”
It was him...
You jumped out of bed way to quickly, your head was just not copying with this too well.
“Are you awake? the soup will get cold”
“Kyungsoo?”
“Yes who else?”
Damn right, who else would be in your house and pathetic life but a lonely ghost?
You turned the door handle and you were welcomed again with that full smile, he was holding a tray and a bowl of a really appetising looking soup and 2 slices of bread with butter.
“Did you-can you cook?”
“I can, not that there was much at home but I went and got some mushrooms from the hill behind us and you had meat in the freezer...
“Kyungsoo you will never fail to surprise me, you picked mushrooms for me?Please come in, I’m starving I don't remember the last time I had a hot home cooked meal” you said gracing the tray sitting down on bed and almost moaning at the taste.
“I’ll cook for you, everyday”
It sounded too real, too intense, too freaky, but he was desperate, desperate for attention, and you strangely were willing to live with this cook ghost with heart-shaped lips.
“I would very much like that Kyungsoo”
He took your left hand and covered it with both his hands, he looked at your scared face that wanting to get it back but afraid he might do something.
He slowly opened his hands looking at yours between his, he lowered his face until you felt his incredibly soft lips on the back of you hand, he slowly pressed a soft kiss, you watched his eyes blink and his eyelashes flutter, he lifted his gaze at you again gifting you a lazy smile that held sadness but hope at the same time.
“Thank you, I will make it unforgettable”
