Oh my god I've been awake like twenty minutes and already today is freaking great

My religion class teacher finally uploaded our final exam essay question and pretty much I just have to pick two authors from the beginning of class, which will be Kierkegaard and Feuerbach, and then Nietzsche and Freud and talk about the evolution of critics of traditional religion and what alternatives to religion they offer. And we have to use a lot of quotes so that won't be hard. AND I have until next Saturday night to finish it c:

I started this semester kind of hating the entire idea of religion but now I'm honestly considering doing a religious studies minor because I like learning about all the different theories there are

My teacher has talked a few times about a class on animals and their significance with different religions and I think I'd really like to take that

And two girls in my class were talking about another course about like modern movements in religion or something like that and I think I'd like to take that and I think I might really do it. A minor is 15 credit hours so five classes and that's not bad I think I'm gonna do it

And D301 should count towards it and I'd only need at least two more 300+ level courses to take

I am still very much an agnostic atheist, but this class has actually made me really interested in religion. Not necessarily modern or traditional or stereotypical religion but like. So many people just read the bible and take it like it is a fucking scientific textbook that states exactly how everything was and is and like that's fucking beyond stupid because there are so many theories out there. Really interesting ones. And I like learning about these other theories, not just the atheistic ones. Like Hegel, who thought that every single thing that happens in history was merely an "unfolding of god" in order to discover himself and he went through and listed like every. single. historical thing and explained how it was a planned process of god learning to know himself. And then there's Kierkegaard who is totally against the church and thinks that being a true christian is a constant struggle and that you can't just go to church and pray before dinner but rather you must live like god and give your entire life to him and continuously try to build and maintain a relationship with him. And then there's Feuerbach with his atheistic view that god is merely a projection of humanity and that everything that god is and represents is just humanity's deepest desires and a way of coping with life essentially and like all this stuff is so interesting like. It's actually really scary how so many people just go to church and read the bible and accept that god created earth and humans and all the animals and then Jesus came down and died on the cross but they're the same person and like

Educate your fucking self there are so many other theories you might actually agree with instead
