Rewatched the Downton Finale

- I was a lot calmer this time around (although the pacing was still crazy)

- BABY BATES GURGLING IS THE CUTEST THING (next to his little chin bob to his mama and dada *happy tears*)

- I totally missed Daisy saying she was going to go to the farm, WHOOPS (but good for her. And Mrs P and Mr Mason are adorable)

- Baxter running to let Downstairs know about Edith and Bertie going still made me think she was letting them know Baby Bates was in the world (one track mind)

- Henry was a million times better than he was all series, I blame the racing for making him insufferable (and it was so cute that he nicknamed Edith ‘Edie’. He really wants her and Mary to be close)

- I wish Tom would have got a little better of an outcome, he was pretty much the narrator

- Denker putting on the ‘nude’ nail polish was the first and last time I laughed about her and Spratt

- I may just rewatch the Bates Family’s scene a million time, whoops

So I said I’d post my Downton S6 wishlist after the finale...

...and see what came true. Here it is (the things that happened are crossed off, like all good lists):

Baby Bates

A good, trauma-free storyline for Anna and Bates (well, it wasn’t completely trauma-free, and it could have been better, in honesty. But still much better than S4 & S5)

A bedroom scene at the cottage (sob)

Anna calling John ‘John’! (REJOICE, I really was losing hope)

Edith being happy in whatever way is best for her (with Marigold/her career/a new man who actually sticks around) (hey, she got all three! No more Poor Edith)

A cameo from Evelyn Napier (but jeez, was it even worth it; he was there for all of 30 seconds)

A cameo from Gwen

At least 3 proper Anna and Bates kisses (I knew I was being too optimistic)

Anna telling John she is pregnant (maybe this is where she calls him John...)

Anna with a bump

Anna, John and Baby Bates as a family (in at least one scene, but more would be great)

Tom to come back with Sybbie (maybe he finds a new beau, but it’s cool if not, as long as he is happy) (I think the new beau was hinted at enough)

Mary to end up with Henry Talbot (or Evelyn if not) (I know it’s a long shot...) (in the end I didn’t even ship it that much, whoops)

Daisy to continue with her education and then go to run the farm with Mr Mason (I guess the next bit was hinted at?)

A Hughes and Carson wedding

Mrs Hughes and Carson to retire, or otherwise carry on at Downton (first option is preferable but I wouldn’t mind either way)

John and Anna leaving on the train to head for their hotel/new life (to parallel 1.1) (I knew it was a pipe dream, but alas. I don’t think the hotel is too far away though...they won’t be able to keep out of the nursery for long enough to stay working :D )

Baxter and Molesley to go official (I just imagine them not making a big fuss, just being cute...maybe hanging out with Mr Molesley Snr) (awww. They’ll get there)

Mrs P being super proud of Daisy and fussing over Elsie

Thomas not being (too much of) a douche and being content/stable – having a good friendship with Andy, perhaps? (he would be content eventually...at least he turned over a new leaf in the end)

Andy to have an interesting storyline so that we get to know more about him (well, maybe ‘interesting’ is debatable, but I guess in the scheme of things...)

Robert and Cora to be as they are – heads of Downton, keeping things together (for as long as the way of life lasts...)

A cameo from Rose and Atticus, as they are so cute

Violet continuing to be the sassiest Dowager known to man (and not dying)

Spratt to get his comeuppance

Isobel to be happy whatever way (working or getting back with Merton)

Isobel and George having at least one scene with some quality grandmother/grandson time (I really would have loved to have seen that)

Robert and Cora to have the same kind of grandparents scene with both of the kids, but particularly to have some bonding with Marigold

Not too bad, really!
