I struggle to identify myself religiously.

Post-rabbinical Judaism sounds nice, but it's too vague to actually mean anything in practice. Also, I feel like my beliefs recently have had more in common with neopaganism than with actual Judaism.

I do feel like I'm Jewish, that much is clear. But I am also polytheistic, and I worship a few deities from the ancient Canaanite pantheon. Those deities were almost certainly worshipped in ancient Israel and Judah, even though they were rejected along the development of Judaism.

But I also try to go to the synagogue on Shabat, to do tefilah, to study Torah and to build community with other Jews. I hold Hebrew as my sacred language, and Palestine as my holy land. My partner is Masorti Jewish, and despite our different beliefs I do feel like we have very similar religions.

I honestly don't know if my beliefs can be considered compatible with Judaism. Maybe I could call it Israelite Polytheism? I fear it would upset people... Just avodah zarah is enough for a tumblr bio for now, I guess.

hii, im not Jewish so this may be a dumb question but, is post rabbinical judaism actually a thing ? if so, can you explain a little how it works? I've never heard of it, ty! :)

If you mean a distinct mainstream movement called post-rabbinical Judaism then no, it is not a thing, but I have been sincerely using this expression to describe my religious beliefs and practices for a while now

I understand it simply as the idea of decentralisation of (and extrapolation from) Rabbinical law, practice and thought

In this way, there are many things that I could comfortably call post-rabbinical in contemporary Judaism. More progressive movements, like Humanistic and Reconstructionist, are filled with such examples. There's also the Kohanot Movement, which is no longer active, but was an attempt of building what I understand as post-rabbinical feminist Judaism.

What exactly do "post-rabbinical Judaism" refer to, if you don't mind me asking?

A Lesson of Seeing Your Own Tethers To Whom You Truly Are

The ties that bind us to where we are and what we shall always be are what most people consider the obligations of their lives. Our connections to others, things and the places are only strings that are placeholders for our physical limitations. Most of which, we place upon ourselves without even knowing. But what about a deeper connection to someone, some place or something that tears into us? Forces us to rethink and reexamine who and what we are? In some beliefs it's called the soul, others the spirit, while once it was called the Ba by the ancient Egyptian. Each part connects us to the spiritual world and each connection brings us back to where we all reside. Our physical ties are only a blink in the eye of The Creator, the spiritual tether to The Creator, The Guardians, The Gods and Goddesses bind us to the path of this universe. Never lay chains upon your own feet and hand if you want to walk and be as free as the Spirits you walk with. The only tether you truly require is the one to The Creator and The Guides who walk with you in every moment of your days. Seek freedom not self imposed servitude to your own temporary existence. -rtf
