Everyone's talking about how the Golden Guard may or may not be Belos's kid but no one talks about how he was conceived and grew up.

Headcanon: He's a literal test tube baby. He was born from a test tube as Belos's experiment to make the perfect witch, which is why he's a prodigy and a high-ranking member of the EC. He's basically Belos's younger clone.

I like the idea that Belos sent him to a foster family since he can't be bothered to take care of him with how busy he is. Meanwhile, handsome boi actually loves his family but is kinda desperate for Belos's attention. He just really wants Belos to call him "son".

Also, it'd be super funny if "Belos is Luz's dad" was a thing. Like, two half-siblings but only one of them was naturally born. Imagine the jealousy.

El lamento del emperador

Belos sabe que no es un buen padre, lo tiene muy claro. Sabe que no es bueno tratando con las personas, su trato es controlador y abusivo. Para un niño es traumatico y para un adulto una pesadilla.

Sabe que no es la persona perfecta para cuidar de alguien y mucho menos para crear lazos. Pero lo está intentando, aún cuando todo lo que recibe de su hija son miradas de repudio cuando trata de una manera patética llamar su atención o cuando sólo retrocede asustada cuando trata de entablar una conversación en lo que podría ser su celda después de ser arrestada.

Sabe que no debería de insistir tanto en una relación que está lejos de suceder, nisiquiera debería de mirarla, pero no podría soportar otra pérdida. Su hermano, su sobrino, su esposa y ahora su hija. Su querida hija Luz quien se niega a siquiera reconocerlo.

Sabe que ha tocado fondo, que todo lo que ha hecho se le está regresando, que su hija es la última lagrima que romperá su destrozado ser.

Tose y en su mano hay sangre. A pesar de haber evadido la muerte por mucho tiempo, sabe que no es inmortal. Después de todo la magia sólo sirve para retrasar lo inevitable. Ahora sólo es los restos de lo que fue alguna vez. Un perdedor mestizo asocial sin magia incapaz de lograr algo en la vida.

¿Pero a qué costo? Todos a los que alguna vez amó han muerto y su hija lo quiere muerto después de haber petrificado a su querido primo.

Hunter.

Oh, querido Hunter.

Enserio que trató dándole lo mejor y convirtiéndolo en una mejor versión de si mismo, pero él sólo miró a los ojos de su pequeña Luz y corrió lejos de él.

Nadie lo abandona. Nadie.

Entonces aprieta con su mano envuelta en metal un costado de su trono hasta dejar marca.

Y siente un nudo en su garganta. Lagrimas se desbordan en el interior de su máscara y se encorva hasta posar su rostro cubierto sobre sus manos enguantadas. Maldice, no sabe a quien, pero si sabe porqué.

Extraña a Hunter.

Sería un mentiroso si dijera que no lloró la noche después de su petrificación. Sintiéndose culpable, pensando que si hubiese sido un mejor tío, hubiera escuchado todo lo que tenia que decir, no lo hubiera atormentado esos seis años y hubiera sido menos duro con él, aún seguiría con vida. Pero es tarde, y ahora su cuerpo petrificado es parte del cementerio dedicado a los traidores.

Y entonces piensa en Camila.

Su dulce Camila, su antes esposa y la madre de su hija. Sabe que no merece su perdón, ella nisiquiera lo quiere ver, está felizmente ocupada con su nueva pareja Eda Clawthorne.

Sabe que no merece sufrir por ello, después de todo él la abandonó sin dejar rastro y la dejó a su suerte con una niña esperando.

Luz, su pequeña luz.

Realmente a veces se ha preguntado que hubiera pasado si hubiera decidido dejar todo y unirse a una vida hogareña. Donde Camila constantemente se preocuparía por su salud, donde Luz se sentaría a su lado de la cama en sus días más bajos, y donde Hunter nunca hubiera pasado por tanto a una edad temprana y disfrutaría de una vida junto a su padre.

Pero no es así, porque Hunter está muerto, asesinó a su hermano y su familia no quiere tener nada que ver con él. Si tan sólo pudiera al menos conocer a su nieta, pero se encuentra solo, señil y desamparado, dando su último respiro en la soledad de su trono, con el corazón del titán agonizando sobre su cabeza.

Ha unido ambos mundos, la magia perecerá y no hay nadie que pueda evitarlo.

So, I checked and there's a few Dad!Belos docs, including yours. Di you mind giving us recommendations?

Not including mine, I only know two on AO3.

Being an Emperor and a Father is Hard Work

This is the one where Luz apparently becomes a princess/Emperor's daughter. So she somehow traveled to the Boiling Isles and had a deep connection to the Titan, which meant her magic is unstable. Her tantrums and fears causes her to fling powerful spells all over the place. At the same time, portal magic doesn't seem to work so she's stuck here. It only has one chapter for now but I like the name the author gave to Luz at the end ("Luzura Andromeda Belos").

Little Light

This one is completely different. Still just one chapter for now but basically, Belos had a weird dream and felt it was important, like he was missing something. Meanwhile in the human realm, Luz also had dreams of the Boiling Isles and designed her arts and crafts stuff based on it. What I like about it is how it explained how Luz was able to create an anatomically correct griffon (spiders and all), despite never seeing one. It places a deeper psychic connection between these two characters, more than just blood.

These two are the only dad!Belos fics I know of, not including my own.

Other fics I recommend include:

The Owl Lady and the Owlet: Baby Luz gets taken care of by Eda after she accidentally left her portal open and broke it. It's adorable.

A Line Crossed: Angsty fic. Luz dies at the end of AOAW and it was not a pleasant death. Multi-chapter and there's a twist but I don't want to spoil.

The Dragon's Quest: Luz wants to see the king of mythical beasts aka the dragon but dragons are extinct. At least, that's what they say. It plays out like an actual episode and is a simple read.

Also, I don't read Lumity fics (which is surprising when 3/4 of all TOH fics are Lumity) since I rarely read ship fics to begin with. But from the hundreds of fics available, these are the ones I recommend.
