sorry for taking ages to write this, i've been all over the place lately and these headcanons have been my sole consolation!

warnings: mentions of pregnant reader in the beginning, otherwise mostly fluff! also, this is in a canonverse!

So if you and Erwin had a kid, you’ve literally nothing to worry about. He’s a good daddy (to the both of you😈). He’s the best paternal figure for your kid and an amazing partner.

The moment you told Erwin you’re pregnant, you felt as if your entire world had collapsed. He literally couldn’t have appeared any more disinterested. Sure, he was tired from his mission, but… Didn’t you deserve some attention? All you got was a “That’s amazing sweetheart, I’m so proud of you” and a peck on the temple, before he returned to his newspaper. You were so upset and decided to get some sleep because, if you didn’t, he wouldn’t make it out of the house alive. Truth be told, he was probably trying to conceal his panic. He was going to be a dad!

To your surprise, you woke up to Erwin emptying your laundry room, measuring the walls, windows, door etc. “Just making sure this is a proper room for an infant. Won’t you take a look at those colour and fabric catalogues? I’ve marked a few choices I liked” you couldn’t help but smile to yourself. A man of action, indeed!

The first time Erwin saw your baby he was so conscious with his actions, scared to death that he might hurt them unintentionally. “Just support their head and torso and… You’re doing great!” you said as you fully let go of your baby in his strong arms. “This is so… God, y/n… This is the best day of my entire life!” This was the only time you ever witnessed the commander sobbing.

(This is genderless of course BUT I feel that Erwin would KILL for a son, but then he gets a daughter and goes all “I’ll make you a strong, independent woman”, you feel me? Back to the genderless kid now!)

Erwin is a tough love kind of person. While this still applies to him as a dad, you’ve seen tremendous change in him. He’s so caring and giving to your child, you almost don’t recognise him at first. (Although as the kid grows up, he kinda goes back to being more of a tough love type of guy, but mostly to teach them the value of hard work or something) (the type of dad to teach them a bunch of things, whether the kid likes it or not!)

I mean, if your kid isn’t doing their homework, Erwin will of course try to get to the bottom of things. “Why don’t you want to study today? Is something wrong at school?” but he’s also the dad to “Listen, I can plant the knowledge in your head, but I can’t make it sprout for you. You have to study on your own as well and you need to pay attention to your teachers. I’ll be in the living room if you’ve more questions”.

Erwin is the dad to plan Sundays in nature. Although he adores the sound of you and your kid playing indoors, while he’s reading his paper, he does love to actively spend time with you. He believes every outdoor activity is a great chance to teach you both some new skills, so do expect him to show you (and your toddler) how to chop wood. “Erwin, they’re three years old” “They need to know about these things, y/n. When I was their age, my dad made me carry the logs all the way home too” “You’re not making our three-year old carry logs Erwin” you protested with a slight glare. “I’m not making our three-year old carry logs, sweetheart”, surrendering with a smile.

While Erwin is more of a traditional dad, I don’t think this applies to how he sees you or his participation in housework and childcare. He’s traditional because he wants to teach your kid values and nurture them into a decent human being. That’s why he makes extra sure to help you fold clothes, clear the dining table etc. Especially if your kid is watching you. He’s trying to set the best possible example. If your kid is old enough to participate in chores, Erwin makes sure they do. “Chores are something we share. It’s like when dad’s on a mission with his team. Every team member has an important role to play. Our role inside the house is to make sure that the chores are completed.” It’s a good thing he was so attentive to the kid as he spoke, because you were on the verge of tears. Where did you even get this man?

He’s also traditional in the sense that he wants to be the provider. He’s the man to make a fuss when you say you want to get back to work, but he also respects you enough to recognise that you have to make your own choices on these matters.

Erwin is so big on rules, it’s almost annoying sometimes. “Why are you still in your pyjamas?” (even on a Saturday!) type of rules. Also, “There’s no dessert, if you don’t finish your lunch. Do you think your mother is obligated to cook for you? We should support mum, show her we’re grateful for all she does for us, not make her life miserable. Eat your peas, then we can all enjoy some pudding”.

“Same goes for mum. Mum has to finish her plate AND her pudding, so she can get some rest.” He gave you a playful smirk, knowing how you were desperate for a nap after your long day.

I KNOW IT IN MY BONES that Erwin is a sucker for activities he considers “smart”. Playing chess, reading books, solving puzzles and crosswords, that kind of games. He also tries to make up his own mind games. He thinks this is the best way to keep your kid’s mind as sharp as possible.

(He also makes them ACTUALLY strategise with him smh… He says that “a fresh, unbiased mind can share a fresh, unbiased perspective”. He’s always super impressed by the comments your child shares with him and how complex those comments become as they mature).

“Dad, how did you and mum meet?” You and Erwin exchange a look at the unexpected question. “Let me demonstrate...” he walked closer to you and held your hand in his. “Erwin we can’t really… Demonstrate this...” You admitted shyly, cheeks blushing, recalling one of your very first dates. “We’ll only demonstrate the suitable for work details, such as...” you inhaled sharply as he slammed you on his torso “How I asked you to dance with me and you didn’t know how to, so you kept stepping on my toes” “It’s not true Erwin! Don’t perpetuate the lie!” You couldn’t hold back your laughter at the sweet memory. “Dad, dad! Did mum go like this on your toes?” then proceeded to give him the worst toe-stepping experience of his life, as they stepped down on him with all of their force.

“The little devil almost threw my nails out! Can you believe how strong they are already?” He said rubbing his sore toes. “That was karma, Erwin, delivered to you in the best way possible!”

“When can I go out on my own dad?” “When you’re tall enough to reach things from the top shelf for your mother. Now go back to your studying.”

When your kid is sick, Erwin kinda loses it. Not in a hectic or panicky way. Mostly, he doesn’t know how to care for a sick person. He’s used to taking the sick or injured people to the infirmary, but how do care for a tiny person?

“Calm down, Erwin! It’s just a cold! Think of yourself. What do YOU do when you’re sick?” “I- Uhm...” He considered this for a while, deep in thought, his fist supporting his chin. “I don’t do anything, y/n. I’ve only ever been to the infirmary due to injuries” “You’re insufferable Erwin” you giggled as you showed him to your medicine cabinet. “They still weigh around sixty pounds. You pop one of these bad boys” you pointed to the painkillers, making the pills jiggle inside their paper box as you continued, “and you have to make sure they’ve eaten beforehand. It helps to drink some water as they swallow the pill. Take their temperature every few hours, make them drink some water, and that’s it!” All this time, his eyes were glued on yours, taking in every single thing you said. “Am I a bad father for not having attending to my sick kid before?” he questioned, eyes still deep in thought, obviously upset by his absence from your kid’s life. “You provide for us. And you risk your life for our entire community, every single day you’re not with us.” You said and touched your arm to his shoulder. “It’s no easy task. Besides, you’re here now and you’re here as often as you’re able too. You’re here for what’s important, trust me.” You explained earnestly. “You still do most of the work though, y/n. It’s not fair. You shouldn’t be doing this on your own.” “I’m not on my own now, am I?”

He really questions himself when it comes to finding a balance between work and family. I know it in my heart that he's doing his best for his precious family!

Erwin intervenes. A whole lot. “What is this book you’re reading?” “Do you have your eyes on any special lady/gentleman?” “Why didn’t you get the highest score in your class?”. Sometimes, he really puts too much pressure on your child. You have to pull him aside and explain that “You can’t control what another person does. Let them be themselves. They’re doing so well already, they’re just… Not as obsessed with succeeding in everything as you” you said and smirked at him. “I’m not obsessed, I’m just the best, y/n! Did you think I became the commander on accident?” He protested, in an almost defensive way, his hand on his chest. “I’m only saying, they don’t have to be as successful as you. They’re good enough and they’re doing their own thing. Let them be and don’t project on them.” He gave you a look as if he saw you for the first time. “Do you think I’m acting like my father, y/n?” (THE PANIC IN HIS VOICE!!)

When your kid receives a medal or does well in whatever they’re interested in, Erwin is the most proud dad to ever exist on the planet. His face is actually glowing and he’s boasting way more than the kid themselves. “I think they took after my sense of discipline. Look how far they’ve come y/n!” “Of course they take after you, Erwin! You’ve taught them so much!” “They wouldn’t be who they are without you, sweetheart.”

BONUS (when the child is 16+)

I do agree that Erwin is the type of person to try and introduce his kid to his favourite scouts. It’s also no secret that Erwin has a liking to Armin. A first, he’s not so sure that Armin is a good candidate for his offspring, as he used to be this timid, small boy. But as time passes, Erwin sees the brilliant mind and strategist that is Armin, he’s got to secure him, you know??

He’d make sure the offspring attends any formal ceremonies as an attempt to get these two to interact. Once he’s finally introduced them to one another, he tries so desperately to put in a good word here and there. It’s funny, because neither Armin or your kid has realised Erwin is doing this on purpose. “Can you not play match maker Erwin? Aren’t you a bit old for this?” “You don’t understand sweetheart. Armin’s a real catch! He’s going to be a commander after I retire, I’m sure! We just need to keep a close eye on him!”

“Commander!” The four year old saluted at their father. “Very Good (Y/N)! rember what we say?”

“Offer up our heawrts” (Y/N) had a stern look on their face, but with their little baby eyes and baby fists, they didn't look that serious. “You look like a born soldier! You might outrank me one day” A deep belly chuckle came from Erwin. He picked them up. “Make me fly Dada!”

Giggles filled the room as Erwin held them above his head and moved her around.

“Commander!” This time, it wasn't his cute four year old that saluted him, it was his beautiful 16 year old. He tried to hide his smile, but he couldn't start showing favorites. “Listen up Cadets-” He continued with his speech about honor and the glory of humanity. “Now Cadets, follow Squad Leader Hange and she will show you your new sleeping quarters!”

“Name and Business” Erwin was nose deep in paperwork, but a smile made its ways to his lips when he heard it was his child. “Come inn”

“hey dad” They closed the door before they addressed him. “What can i do for you sweetheart?” He was leaning back in his chair, giving them his full attention. “Just wanted to check up on you! Didn't see you at lunch”

“Im fine, just a lot of paperwork” He was preparing for the next expedition outside the walls. “You know, we need some people back here to make things run when we are gone. And I took the liberty to sign you up” Erwin didn't meet their gaze, knowing they were pissed off. “What!?”

“It's for your own good (Y/N)! It's dangerous out there!” (Y/N) rubbed their temples and paced around the room. “I know that dad! But you can't keep me here forever, he had this fight when i decided to join, i won't have it again. You can't baby me around here and keep me back. I joined to save humanity, just like you, just like everyone else! And i won't let you give me special treatment” Erwin took a deep sigh, knowing he was wrong. “Fine, I’ll take you off”

“Thanks dad, i gotta go. Connie wants to introduce me to his friends” This made Erwins 'protective dad senses’ tingle. “Connie Spring? That boy is nothing but a troublemaker, i don't want you hanging around them” (Y/N) just chuckled, “Of course you don't, but luckily for me, thats not up to you!” Before he could protest. they shouted out a ‘See ya tomorrow!’ and left the room.

“Hey guys! This is (Y/N) Smith! This is Sasha, Jean, Armin and Reiner! And of course you already know about Eren”

“Yes, but its good to meet you all” They smiled at them. They began chatting with the group learning about them, and joking with them

“(Y/N) Smith? As inn Erwin Smith?” Jean asked when they started to walk back to the sleeping area, night time getting closer and closer. “Hehe, yes. thats my dad”

“Your dad is the commander!” Sasha freaked out, but most of the boys started to sweat. Especially Armin, who had taken a bit of a fancy of her. Now he had to get the commander's blessing! Wanting to make a good impression on them ,Armin asked if he could walk them back to their room. “Of course! Thank you” They both started to walk and chatted. They shared a love for books and could discuss them all night. “well this is me, it was really good getting to know you!”

Armin rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, “No problem! Want to eat breakfast together tomorrow?” (Y/N) nodded and opened the bedroom door, but before they walked inn, they leaned up and kissed him on the cheek. “See you later Armin” And with that the door closed behind them, leaving a blushing Armin.

“So, Cadet Arlert” A deep voice scared Armin and made him jump around. He met the commander's icy blue eyes. “Your fooling around with my daughter, are you?”

“N-no Sir!”

“Dont lie to me Alert! I saw you eye ogling her” Erwin leaned down so he was at eye level with the poor boy. “If i ever see you close to her, i will feed you to the nearest titan myself” And with that, Erwin walked off.

The next day Armin was avoiding (Y/N) the whole day. He didn't show up for breakfast, and when they were training their ODM gear, he wouldn't even look at them. “What is up with you!” (Y/N) finally confronted Armin after dinner. “Nothing”

“Than why are you avoiding me!” Armin didn't meet her eyes, to ashamed. “Your dad told me to back of, so that is what I’m doing” This shocked (Y/N). “I should go”

“No! Wait! Please let me talk to my father. He will back off if i tell him to, i don't want to loose you” Tears were building up in their eyes. Because of their fathers position, everybody had avoided them growing up. Too scared of their dad. Armin was the closest they had gotten to a friend, to a crush. They didn't want to lose that. Armin just nodded, but when he saw the commander approaching he ‘eeked’ and tried to run off. “Hold it right there Arlet, don't you remember what i said?”

“W-w-well-” Armin started to stutter out some excuse, but (Y/N) took the word. “No dad! You don't get to dictate who I am seeing or talking too! I like Armin, a lot and I won't let you scare him off like you scared every friend i had off!” Erwin was taken back by his child's outbreak, but that didn't stop guilt from taking its hold on him.

“I am sorry (Y/N), i haven't been thinking about your feelings. Its just hard watching my little child grow up”

“I get that dad, but please, i need you to back off”

“I will” (Y/N) hugged Erwin. “Okay, i will let you two alone” He smiled down at them, but turned to Armin with a stern look. “But if you hurt them, i will kill you”

“Y-yes sir!” And with that Erwin walked off. “Want to hang out!” (Y/N) tried to lighten the mood, poor Armin was terrified. “S-sure!” And with that they walked off to the library, (Y/N) was finally getting their first friend, and maybe, first boyfriend.

To say Levi had a bad day would be a understatement .

Today not only one but Two of his favorite cup broke plus the there was a leakage and if that was not enough the amount of annoying customers or for a better word brats he had to deal with was too much .

Levi huffed as he enter the house to find erwin and armin sitting in the balcony .

He just sighed as he moved inside .

Suddenly he sees his baby running towards him his hands and mouth covers in chocolate.

"Coconut don't run like that and wash your face u know papa hates when u are dirty right." Erwin calls out from behind .

Armin looks at him his cheeks reds and eyes brightly shinning clear as ocean . He grins at Levi his toothy grin makes his heart melt as he looks at his child . His eyes softer shoulder relaxing as a single smile took off all his life stress.

"Soorrie papa I will wash up " armin moves away but Levi just pulls him back kneel down on the floor to just hug him . Soon after erwin join in .

That evening was filled with cuddles and ice cream

“Are you ready to go, Winwin?” you call out to your husband. “I don’t wanna be late for the picnic!”

“I’m coming, darling, go ahead and head out to the car.” Erwin calls back, straightening out his hair. 

It was the day of Paradis’ engineering annual company picnic. Erwin, being the CEO, would reserve one of the Trost’s biggest parks and hire a catering company, allowing everyone to join together for a day to relax. He’d also of course pay his software engineers overtime for coming. 

When Erwin gets into his sleek black Mercedes, you’re already nestled in the passenger seat, a small smile on your face. 

Erwin starts the car, and his hand immediately drifts over to your thigh, squeezing it gently. “Shall we?”

You nod, starting up your shared playlist. “We shall.”

The drive across the city was quiet, but comfortable. Your music playing softly in the background while Erwin traces small circles on your thigh with his thumb. 

When you arrive at the park, most of the employees are already there, blankets laid out with families sitting on them, children running around the park, adults sitting and watching them while keeping an eye on the kids. 

“Erwin!” a cheery voice calls. You’re greeted by Zoe and their partner, Moblit. “Thought you’d never come, since you’re usually pretty early.”

“Zoe,” Erwin smiles, giving them a small nod. 

“He was taking time getting all pretty,” you giggle, wrapping your hand around his arm. 

“Well, sure looks like it,” they snicker. 

“Oh hush,” Erwin huffs, unable to resist the small smile tugging on the corner of his lips. 

“They’re all waiting on you to start.” Zoe says, ushering the two of you over. 

You and Erwin walk to the pavilion, the chattering of everyone mixing with the soft, 2010s pop that was definitely put on by Zoe. 

Standing beside Erwin, you watch as he grabs the microphone. “Welcome everyone!” Erwin says, his voice booming across the park. “Welcome to the fourth annual Paradis Engineering company outing! I want to thank you all for coming here. You all know how this goes, so I won’t keep talking any longer. Enjoy!” 

You and Erwin sit back, watching happily as all the employees and their families get in line for food. 

Resting your head on his shoulder, you can’t help but smile. You remember fondly when he started the company, with all the confidence in the world. Of course there were ups and downs, what new company doesn’t have them?

It’s then that you see some of Erwin’s newer employees, including a boy named Jean and his husband, Marco, holding a small bundle in his arms. 

Your eyes widen and you quickly go to wash your hands before walking over to the boys.

“Hi boys,” you coo gently.

They turn around, the two boys looking tired. 

“Hi, Y/N.” Jean says softly. 

“Oh, goodness. Are you alright?” you ask, eyebrows quirking in worry. 

“Just tired is all,” Marco says wearily. “He keeps us up at night.”

You watch as Marco bounces the baby up and down. “Do you want me to take him for a bit? So you two can relax?”

“You don’t have to-” Jean starts. 

“I know I don’t have to. I want to.” you say softly, gently holding out your arms. 

Marco looks at Jean worriedly for a minute before nodding, turning back to you and setting the sleeping infant in your arms. 

“What’s his name?” you ask softly. 

“Luca,” Jean smiles. 

“Luca,” you repeat softly. “He’s beautiful.”

“Thank you,” Marco hums, resting a hand on his stomach. “It was a hard pregnancy. He was very…rambunctious.”

You chuckle fondly, looking back down at the baby. “I’ll keep an eye on him, you two go relax. You deserve it.”

“Thank you so much, Y/N.” Jean sighs. 

“Anytime.” you smile. 

Unbeknownst to you, Erwin was watching the whole interaction fondly. The way you were holding the baby, gently rocking him in your arms…

“I brought us a guest,” you muse, interrupting his thoughts as you walk back and sit down beside him again. “This is Luca, Jean and Marco’s baby.”

Erwin looks down at the baby. He’s got such a round, chubby face, with Jean’s hair and Marco’s freckles spread across his cheeks. 

“Ah, I remember. Jean’s still on paternity leave if I remember correctly,” he hums, gently bringing a finger to the baby’s cheek. It’s soft and squishy. 

Erwin gulps, words stuck in his throat. When the two of you had gotten married, you had both mentioned wanting children, but never agreed on a specific timeline. 

But now sitting next to you, watching you so carefully hold Luca…maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if the two of you finally started talking about it. Sure, you might be on the older side as parents but…that shouldn’t be a problem, right? The idea of seeing you round with his child brought up feelings that he hadn’t really felt before. 

During the picnic, Luca rarely left your side. Jean and Marco would change and feed him, but give him back to you right after, seeing how happy you were to take care of the baby. 

The feelings of wanting children only grew as Erwin sat with you. You were able to easily make the baby laugh, soothe him when he started to cry…you were just a natural. 

At the end of the picnic, you said goodbye to Luca with a pout, along with telling Jean and Marco that you’d be more than happy to babysit if they ever needed it. 

Little did Erwin know that you were also having similar thoughts, though not as intense as his. Why not start trying? You were already a homemaker, you and Erwin were financially well off…no reason to not to. 

The drive back was full of contemplation between the both of you, your hands holding each other’s a bit tighter than usual.

As the two of you walk inside after getting home, and Erwin grabs your wrist, preventing you from going any further. 

“My love,” Erwin croaks, his eyes wide with desire. “There’s something I need to talk to you about.”

“What is it, darling?” you ask softly, tilting your head. 

“I want to try having kids.” he blurts out, his mouth moving faster than his mind. “B-But only if you want to as well…” he says, straightening up. “Seeing you with Luca earlier…”

“Are you serious?” you ask, your voice breaking softly. 

His eyes widen at your soft tone and he nods, letting go of your wrist to cup your face with both of his hands. “Yes. Yes, my love. I am. I know we never talked about children in the timeline but…I want this now. I’d love to have a mini you, or a mini me running around. I want to see you round with our child, so I can pamper, take care of you more than I already do.”

You nod, eyes darkening with the same desire he had in his. “Erwin…you’re talking my language right now…” you bite your lip, looking at your husband. 

He groans and lifts you up, your legs wrapping around his waist. “Well, Mrs. Smith,” he starts, walking you to your bedroom, “let’s see how many times I need to fill you up so you can get pregnant tonight.”

imagine the loathing reader feels for levi after erwin’s death, even if it’s only for a little bit. hange and levi are like aunt and uncle to her, and she can’t help but somewhat blame him for choosing armin, screaming at him that he took away the only father she remembers

and the heartbreak levi would feel. i think the decision would break him at night, especially knowing that she HATES him at the moment, and he thinks that she’ll never want anything to do with him again

that’s the girl that erwin trusted levi to take care of once he was gone, and now she hates him

on that same vein i think she’d also avoid armin at all costs, because she’s extremely upset; not that she wanted armin to die, but why did her dad have to die?
