read the non-canon dad PE!namjoon and i love him so much already kiks 😭😭😭 you were so right when you said he’s sylus from LADS and spock from star trek in one
AHAAHAHAHAHA RIGHT???? I have so many tiiiny random scenes I have written because they popped in my head and were so funny not to write like:
"Mama!" Min calls from her perch on Namjoon's shoulders, her chubby hands reaching toward you. "Up!"
"You are up," you point out reasonably. "You're on the tallest thing in the park."
Namjoon's lips twitch slightly at your description of him as a ‘thing,’ but he's too focused on his sliding strategy session with Eun to properly protest.
"Higher!" Min insists, bouncing dangerously on her precarious perch.
"Stability compromised," Namjoon mutters, reaching up to secure her tiny legs more firmly. "Maintain position, Min."
"If she starts batting her eyelashes, I'm calling a medic because she's clearly been body-snatched," Yoongi mutters.
"She's six, not sixteen," you remind him, though you're equally amazed by this unprecedented display of social interest from your typically reserved daughter. "Though I'm starting to worry about what puberty is going to look like in this household. If Namjoon nearly has an aneurysm over playground interactions..."

Story: Amended
Characters: Namjoon & Sylvie (Namjoon x Gina, Sylvie is Gina's daughter)
Length: 2353
CW: some cursing about deadbeat dads :)
Namjoon sat on the couch and looked at Sylvie. Sylvie looked right back at him, but standing, with her arms tucked into the back of her Mirabel dress through an impressive feat of contortion. Namjoon knew who Mirabel was; he’d seen the movie twice and made a point of learning the soundtrack. Coco too. And Moana. And Frozen, back before he knew which Disney movies Sylvie and Diego actually liked. They had not yet been impressed by his knowledge of the lyrics but Gina had made him butcher the Spanish lyrics of ‘Dos Oroguitas’ again for her later and swayed with her arms around his neck and kissed him hard so… yeah, no regrets. It was nice languages came to him relatively easy. He hadn’t told her he was learning Spanish in his spare time yet, not wanting to embarrass himself before he reached a minimum threshold of competency, but obviously that was a thing he needed to do. She spoke Spanish with her kids as much as she did English. Her whole family spoke it as their first language. He wanted to be in her life, so he needed to speak it too.
Now he decided to try it out a little during this afternoon alone with Sylvie for the first time.
“Qué quieres hacer?” he asked her to show off.
Her lips bubbled out with her breath and she tilted her head and scrunched her eyebrows together. Fuck, had he said something wrong? Or did he just sound stupid?
“What are we going to do together, Sylvie?” he asked her.
“I don’t know,” she giggled. Then tilted her head the other way. “No sé.” Then “Podemos comer dulces?”
“Ok ok, you passed my Spanish,” he laughed. “I don’t speak much yet.”
“Do you have candy in your pocket? Can I have it?”
One time he’d had candy in his pocket when they saw each other while he was in uniform.
“Sorry, I don’t…”
She didn’t say anything but looked disappointed. Strike one. Namjoon pursed his lips and templed his fingers, elbows on his knees, and waited. One of them had to figure out what they were going to do. They had several hours before Gina and Diego would be home for his afternoon of appointments. Gina was stressed as shit about Diego’s school trouble lately –Diego acting out, doing poorly on his schoolwork, not wanting to do his homework or even read anymore. So off they went to the doctor for something Namjoon hadn’t asked the details about and Namjoon had volunteered to keep Sylvie before Gina could ask Isabella.
Because, hey, he and Gina were kind of a thing now –no, not kind of. A thing. They were a thing. And he needed to impress her kids quick. He didn’t have tons of nieces and nephews running around like Jungkook did to give him that leg up. He didn’t know much about kids at all and suspected they both knew Diego and Sylvie. He felt big and clumsy with kids. He’d felt that way when he was a kid.
“So uh… what do you want to play?” Namjoon asked.
Sylvie just shrugged.
“Um, you’ve got like… Princess stuff or Legos or–”
“Those are Go’s,” she corrected. “I don’t play Legos.”
“Oh. Ok, well… we could uh…” He racked his brain, trying to think of what Jungkook mentioned he did with Lily, or what he’d seen Sylvie do when he was over any other time, or any movies he’d seen. “Um… tea party?”
“No,” she said in her little soft voice, a gentle rejection.
“Uh… art?”
A pause, then, “Ok.”
“Ok. What art stuff do we have? I’m not a great artist but maybe you can teach me something…”
“Anyone can be an artist,” she corrected. “All you have to do is take a crayon and make your mark.”
“Wow.” She went over to get a box from against the wall but he just stared after her for a moment. Had she thought of that on her own? That was fucking profound. “Does your mom say that?”
“No. It’s in that crayon book.”
“What crayon book?”
“You know, the crayon book.” He still didn’t know, but she didn’t clarify further, because apparently he ought to just know what book she was talking about even though he was positive he’d never read a book about crayons in his life. Or, well, recently. When she began to drag the box to the coffee table, he picked it up and set it beside the table and lifted the lid off, peering into a chaotic nest of broken crayons, pipe-cleaners, half used sticker sheets, dry glue sticks, uncapped markers, loose sequins, and colored popsicle sticks.
Sylvie plopped right down and pulled out some paper and crayons. Damn, she was cute, little face bright and happy, loose hair wispy around her face from her long ponytail with a sparkly scrunchie.
“What are you drawing?”
“Uh….” She paused and looked at the lines she had made, then giggled and whispered shyly, “I don’t know yet.” He wasn’t sure why that had made her shy, but decided to give her some space. She was shy, much shyer than Lily, who saw everyone as a friend she just hadn’t met yet. Each time he was around Sylvie, he felt like it took time for her to warm up to him again. It was faster if Lily and Jungkook were around, like Sylvie just accepted Namjoon was her Jungkook stand-in for the moment.
But he wanted to be more than that to her. Even if the reality of what it took to be more than that for her felt beyond him right now because he couldn’t even figure out how to spend an afternoon with her. What business did he have dating a woman with children when he knew next to nothing?
But he wanted to. He wanted to figure this out. He felt like Gina and Diego and Sylvie were worth it. He got it, why Jungkook had felt like Isabella, Ezra, and Lily were too.
So he folded his long legs under the coffee table and dug around in the box and pulled a few pieces of paper out to draw on too. In holding it, though, he realized it was a lighter weight, and had pretty designs on each side.
“Ok…” Didn’t answer his question but she seemed to think it did. “Well what do you make?”
“Um…” She blew her lips out unhappily. “Swords.”
“You… make origami swords?”
“Yeah… and a diamond.”
“And a diamond.” He had no fucking clue what she was talking about.
“Here, I can show you!”
“Ok!” Yeah that seemed good. He watched as she started folding up her current paper without even bothering to make it square. “Wait. I need tape.”
“You shouldn’t need tape…”
“Well I do,” she said and sounded so much like her mother it made him laugh. He went to find some tape, but all he could find was packing tape, so he had to fight with the end of it and tear her off small pieces to use and then fight with the end again when it would inevitably cling to itself again.
“You can say bad words. I know not to say them too,” she assured him, either reading his mind or lips.
“Ah… I won’t… it’s better to stop saying bad words, you know?”
“Mami says bad words don’t count if you say them in Spanish so maybe you should learn Spanish.”
“Yo estudio español.” As soon as he said it, he worried it was wrong, even such a basic phrase. She giggled, which could mean either way.
“Ok do what I do,” she told him.
He tried. She kept checking his work and telling him he was doing it wrong, but then she’d tell him “very good” probably like her teacher did. Then she held out the thing she’d made. “Aquì. A diamond” and motioned to his.
“Ahh, yes, hm.” He looked at the two things in his hands. This was not origami. This was paper folded and taped to resemble a crunchy wad roughly in a shape alluding to a diamond. In a way, hers was better, because his looked like it was trying too hard. “It’s really cool. Thanks for teaching me.”
“Do I have to make a sword?”
“No, of course not. Want me to make something?”
“Yes,” she grinned.
“Ok, let’s see…” He looked around for something he could use to crease the paper and settled on a shitty pair of safety scissors. It had been a while since he’d actually made anything with origami and he worried at first he’d need to look up directions which would make it seem a little less cool. But once he started to crease the paper, he felt the directions come back like a video he could watch just by closing his eyes. His fingers remembered –probably because he’d made dozens of these trying to impress a girl in middle school. It had not worked. Resulted in nothing but papercuts and blisters.
Sylvie leaned close on the table, watching his hands closely. No one ever paid that much attention to anything he was doing, it was really sweet. He kept glancing at her face until he made the final fold and held it out to her.
“It’s a butterfly!” she gasped and held her hands out for it. When he set it in her palm, she cradled it like it was real.
“It’s pretty, right?”
“It’s so cute!”
“Ok, let’s see, what else do I know how to make…” Namjoon racked his brain as Sylvie leapt up and made the butterfly fly around the room. She was so pleased with it, it made Namjoon feel really good.
“Teach me how to make it!” Sylvie begged, crashing back down and gently putting the butterfly on the table. “She needs a sister and we can make a bed. No, two sisters!”
She was talking to him so much!
“That’s a lot of sisters,” Namjoon laughed. “All right. It’s kinda tricky though so I may have to help you sometimes…”
He thought that might be frustrating for her to need help. Kids were supposed to get impatient if they couldn’t do it themselves, right? But she didn’t mind at all, just leaned around his hands to see when he’d reach forward to assist with the more complicated bends and folds. Her butterfly came out a little wonky but he praised it and she glowed. She chose the paper for his and then they looked up on his phone how to make a box, which he folded while she tore up paper to be the “blankets.”
“Hmmm, should I try to make a bird? It’s pretty hard!”
“You can do it!” Sylvie insisted. “If it gets hard I can help you.”
Ah, she was adorable. She was really cute. Namjoon watched her smile to herself and arrange the trio of butterfly sisters carefully in their new little bed and couldn’t fathom how a father could just walk away from this little girl. That’s what the fucker had done! Gina had minced no words when, in response to Namjoon asking her on a date, she had said, “I already picked the wrong dad for my babies and now they’ve got a basket of abandonment issues. They already know you. I know no guy wants to hear it, but I can’t date you unless we figure out fast if we’re serious about it, because they don’t need another guy tossing a wave over his fucking shoulder at them.”
And Namjoon had straightened his shoulders and looked her in the eye and said, “I debated it a long time before I asked because of that. You deserve better than that, they deserve better than that. You tell me what the best thing is to do for them, and for you, but… yeah. I’m serious about this. I mean it.”
And so they were a thing, even though they’d only been on a few dates, and Namjoon was doing his best to earn the warmth he felt in his chest every time her kids played with him or asked for help with something or hung off his arms to see if he could still walk or just shouted and waved, “Hi, Joon! Bye, Joon!” Always Joon.
The crane hadn’t turned out great but Sylvie loved it. She loved the frog too, even though he had to find instructions on his phone. He made it with daisy paper and Sylvie squealed with more glee than he’d ever heard from her. She loved his shitty frog, his lopsided crane, the butterflies. And it was soothing to make, too. Something about the focus on such a small task, the dexterity required, the smoothing and folding and pressing, the doubting it until it finally came together, it was all very calming.
Maybe that was spending time with Sylvie too though. She was so quiet when her brother wasn’t around; Jungkook said Lily barely stopped to breathe, but it was obvious Sylvie on her own was a gentle soul. She seemed perfectly happy doing this too; he was amazed how long it entertained her.
“Ok what else can we make…”
“Make a… hm…” Sylvie trailed off staring at the screen as Namjoon scrolled to see what else there were tutorials for. “MAKE A ELEPHANT!” she shouted, pointing at his phone so hard it fell from his hands. Her eyes got wide. “Sorry…” she grimaced.
“Ahh, it looks really hard, but let’s see if we can do it together,” he said. “What paper are we going to use?”
“Pink.”
“Pink it is.”
Sylvie giggled and snuggled close to his side so their hands could work together and it didn’t matter that the girls in middle school hadn’t been impressed with his origami. It was worth every second to spend this afternoon making Sylvie happy instead. Worth every papercut.

My eyes were glued to the screen, watching his movements closely as he hit every beat with precision.
I really admired Jimin's way of dance. It was so elegant and graceful yet at the same time so sharp and precise. It was a shame that he leaned more into his modeling than he did his music, he would have made a great artist. I would have loved to see him on tour.
I paused the video on my laptop screen, and looked down at the notes I had taken, reading over them before I stood up to my feet and walked over to the middle of the floor of the dance studio.
I took my phone from my back pocket and unlocked the screen, starting the song over and pressing the play button. I quickly put my phone back in my pocket and got into my position. Jimin's voice blasted through the speakers as my body followed along with the lyrics of his song Lie, keeping in my head all of the corrections that I wrote down in my notebook that I needed to do better on as I danced along to the choreography.
As I stood dancing in the dance practice studio, I still found myself being amazed that I was actually here. I couldn't believe three months had already flown by since the day I checked my emails and learned that every entertainment company had rejected me. It was something that I could laugh at now, but three months ago, it really did hurt me. It would probably be a moment that I don't think I would really ever forget. Just the thoughts that ran through my head then, thoughts that I wasn't good enough for any of the companies made me feel like a failure. It was really sort of embarrassing for me. I felt so naïve, like everything was just gonna be the way I dreamed of it to be, but as more time had passed, I realized that I had preexisting setbacks that played a part in my rejections as well. Preexisting setbacks that were far behind my control, because I couldn't change the way I was born.
Despite everything that I've experienced thus far, I didn't have time to dwell or focus on the negativities that would definitely plague me throughout my journey of being an idol, not anymore. The only thing that I was interested in and had my complete focus on nowadays, was being the best trainee that I could be.
Because I know from following artist that literally came from nothing, that the only way to get anything in this world, especially nowadays, is through hard work and determination. I wouldn't let anything disrupt me from that. I wouldn't let anything stop me from achieving my dreams. The only thing that would ever stop me would be myself.
Looking back, I remember the day that I had finally sent in my audition tape to DRMusic Entertainment. I was nervous and scared. At the time, I just felt that if all the other entertainment companies had rejected me, then this one would ultimately end up doing the same thing. Youngheun and Dahye had practically begged me and talked me out of my negative thoughts, telling me that it wouldn't hurt to try, so I did. I sent in my audition tape and to my surprise, only a day later after sending it in, I had gotten an email back from them. Accepting me into the company.
That was honestly one of the best days of my life, I couldn't contain my happiness even if I wanted to. It was just an amazing feeling, I felt like for the first time since I was that twelve year old girl that tried her hardest to pass an audition, that I had moved one peg up in this game of life in the idol industry. I moved one step closer to achieving my dreams.
That week after I had been accepted, I went to the company with my mom, where we had both sat down with the CEO of DRMusic, we had gone over all of the paperwork and legal work that I would have to sign to officially be apart of the company. It was a part of the process that wasn't fun or exciting, it was a bit humbling if I was being honest. Taking all of those naïve thoughts that I had before, and bringing me back to reality. We talked about things that was a bit of a harsh reality to think about, but I was happy to experience it.
CEO Yoon had went through the contract thoroughly with me and my mother, being up front about everything that we went over regarding the contract. He was open and honest with us about the company, how it wasn't the best out there, that they didn't have financial standing like many other companies did. He let us know that if I did decide to join the company, that it wasn't gonna be an easy ride, being from such a small company was gonna make it harder for them to succeed and that it was a possibility the goals that I set for myself may not be met.
It was hard to hear, but I was very appreciative of his honesty. He didn't have to say any of that, he could have let my naïve ambitious self just sign the contract not knowing what I was getting myself into, and that's what made me ultimately sign.
I already knew of DRMusic, because of youngheun and Dahye. I knew they were an almost unknown company that wasn't gonna have the same experiences as a company that was more known, but I also knew what I was getting myself into. It was never ideal to lower your standards on things that you cared about, but beggars can't be choosers. Everyone has to start somewhere. If I just do my best, and give this my all. I know me, along with my members and our company can succeed. I'm determined to make that happen.
" Caught in a lieeeeeeeeeeeeee~~ " I sung along with the song, swinging my hips, hitting the beat as I raised my hands dramatically before bringing them back down, sweat falling down my face as I moved on to the next move.
I had been working on getting this cover done for a few weeks now. The members and I were very diligent about our training. We made sure to get everything our teachers assigned to us done, especially me. Sometimes the members would be annoyed with me when I kept asking the teachers to keep going over dances we had already gone over, but I'm just trying to make sure everything is perfect. I didn't want to be lacking in anything. Not dancing, not rapping, not vocals, nothing.
After I would finish with our daily workouts and vocal lessons, I would come to the studio to work on my dance. It had been a while since I've last uploaded a dance cover to my twitter account, and I promised my followers that I would post the cover by the end of the week.
Learning the dance was a bit of a task and I commend Jimin and his choreographer for creating such masterpieces. It was a bit of a challenge to learn both dances and mashing them together, but I knew my followers would love it.
For the most part, I was done with the dances, I just wanted to clean up some parts, so I took notes on the things I noticed that I was doing not so well in, so that I could do it better, so after running through the dance about three more times, applying the corrections I made for myself, I finally allowed myself to take a break.
My breathing was heavy as I sunk down to the floor, my arms and legs sprawled out as my chest rose and fell frantically. My body felt like jelly, tingling as I laid there, trying to catching my breath. I didn't want to move a muscle, I just wanted to let my body cool down before I did anything else.
Laying their after a few minutes gave my body the rest it needed before it had begin to relax, my breathing pattern going back to normal. I sat myself up, looking at myself in the mirror and cringing when I saw just how sweaty I was. My eyes moving over to the door when I heard it beginning to open.
" And here is our last swan, practicing as she always does because she's such a hard worker. Say hi to our cute lead vocal and main rapper, Jaelah!" Youngheun shouted as she came into the room holding a hand held camera, Dahye and Larissa coming in after her.
" Omg hi~" I said, putting my face into the camera and giving it kisses. " It's your cute eonnie here to give you all the love in the world." I said bringing my hands up to my face and gave the camera a flower pose.
Dahye walked in front of the camera, making a cringe face at me. I let out a laugh, pushing her out of the cameras frame before putting my face close to the lends again.
" Guys I think it's time to admit that Dahye actually hates me. I tried to keep it in but my cute dongsaeng makes it so hard for me." I said to the camera, pinching the bridge of my nose as I shook my head dramatically.
" Eonnie don't worry. I'm here for you." Larissa said to me, coming up behind me as she started to back hug me.
" Ahhh." I said, laying me head back onto her. " This is what real love reals like." I said.
" So. Anyone wanna the audience what we are working on these days. Seems like they really want to know." Youngheun said as she turned the camera n herself as she asked the question, making a thinking face before she turned the camera back on to us.
" Welllllll if you all really wanna know what we're doing nowadays, I guess I can tell you." I said to the camera.
The girls all turned their gazes at me and waited, holding their breaths, thinking I was gonna say something that I wasn't supposed to.
" Well first off, we're working on... showing you guys the best versions of ourselves! That's why we're working so hard, so when you finally get to see us in action, we'll make you all proud. So please keep watching us and please keep rooting for us." I said sincerely to the camera, giving a finger heart.
" Ahhhh Jaelah- eonnie always has a way with words, right?" Dahye asked the camera as she clapped her hands.
" Alright yeoreobun, we all hope you watch this video and be comforted by the thought that you will be able to meet with us soon! Like Jaelah said earlier, please keep watching us and please keep cheering and supporting us. We hope to make you proud soon!"
All of them members got into the camera and started blowing kisses and give the screen a finger heart before Youngheun pressed the stop recording video.
After the recording was done, we all looked at each other smiling.
" I'm still surprised we have people watching us and waiting for our debut." Youngheun spoke up, a smile on her lips.
" We really do have Jaelah-eonnie to thank for that." Dahye said as she playfully bumped my shoulder.
" Actually we have Jungkook to thank. If it weren't for him coming into the store that day and taking that picture, sending all of his fans there, things would probably be very different right now." I said replying to them.
" I still can't believe that happened. Imagine THE Jeon Jungkook delivering from your store, then coming to your store the next day. Things like that seems like they only happen in movies." Youngheun said.
" Or fanfictions." Larissa said speaking up.
I nodded my head and pointed at her, agreeing with what she said. " I literally read a Taehyung fanfic that happened just like this. It was so good. A bit of a slow burner, but it was worth it." I said to them.
" And on that note, I'm gonna take my leave. We have about ten more minutes before we have to go back to practicing. Debut is just around the corner and we need to be ready. And please make sure to stick to dieting. Manager-nim is adamant about that." Youngheun said to us.
" Yes leader-nim." I said saluting her with a teasing smile.
She playfully rolled her eyes as she left out of the room, the door closing behind her with a soft click.
" Eonnie, are you done with that video you were working on?" Larissa asked me as she went and sat against the mirror, he legs stretched out in front of her.
" Almost. I'm done with learning the dances, and obviously I already know the lyrics, it's just little things that I have to tweak to make better." I said to her.
" From what I've seen so far. They're gonna love it. The transition you made between the two songs are so good." Dahye said to me as she sat down in the middle of the floor, laying down. " I really am thankful to you eonnie, you really do bring in a lot of fans for us. I'm happy that Jungkook-shii did what he did that day, but the content you make for the fans is what keeps them coming back, so thank you, and thank you for joining our team." She said to me, turning her head over to face me with a smile.
" I really don't need you to make me cry right now. Aish, I swear my dongsaeng is the cutest ever." I said, pouting my lips up at her. " No but seriously, don't count yourselves out of this equation either. You guys post content as well that the fans love. I just think the they really enjoy it that we show our real authentic selves, so as long as we keep doing that and building with them from here, they'll stay by our side." I responded to her.
" Yeah that's true." DaHye responded. She had laid back on the floor, her eyes looking up at the ceiling. " You know eonnie, that's honestly the best way to go. The more we grow as a group and as a team, I want our fans to grow along with us. I want to try to be as up front and honest with them as I can. I want to be the type of artist that I could see myself stanning, you know?" She asked me, her eyes still focused up on the ceiling.
I smiled to myself at her words. " I understand completely. I swear that's the same exact way I feel. I don't I just want to be able to have a close relationship with our fans. Like you said, be the type of artist that you would stan, the same goes for me. I don't like celebrities who are stuck up and think the world owes them something. I want to be the complete opposite of that. I would always want our fans to know that they will be the reason that we do what we do and the reason that we're gonna reach our dreams. Even now, I'm so grateful to the fans who watch us now even though we don't have much to give right now. It's a very humbling feeling and I hope to always feel this way." I said to her, finishing my little rant.
" Eonnie you really do have a way with words, don't you?" Larissa spoke up.
I shrugged my shoulders absentmindedly. " I guess I just like to speak what's on my mind." I said to her.
DaHye, Larissa and I continued to sit on the floor, each one of us dazed off in our own minds. It wasn't long before we heard the door of the dance practice room open again, Youngheun coming into the room, with manager SungJae behind her.
" CEO Yoon called for a sudden meeting with you all. I don't know what the meeting is gonna be about this time, but Jaelah, do try and keep your input to yourself this time." Manager SungJae said, his eyes moving over to me with a subtle sternness. " I understand the want to speak up and voice your opinion regarding your career, but it is not needed at the moment. The staff and team are working diligently so the only thing you have to worry about is to sing rap and dance." He finished.
I felt the frown come to my face as soon as I realized where his words were going. I knew he was eventually going to say something to me about me always speaking up and giving my input whenever we had meetings with CEO Yoon.
I just didn't understand what exactly the problem was. All I said was that the song we had laid our vocals down for was a bit out of touch with what people were listening to nowadays. It sounded something like the second generation of Kpop idols would sing. I didn't understand the need to scold me for that, but I digress.
" Yes manager SungJae."'I responded to him, bowing my head slightly in apology.
He nodded his head at me then turned to face back around to the door. " We should get going." He said, walking out of the room.
I let out the sigh I was holding in, the deep frown making its way back on my face as Larissa walked out of the room, followed by Dahye. Youngheun came over to me, her eyes trying to find mine as I avoided her gaze.
" I'm sorry Heunnie. I'm not trying to cause trouble for us. I'll make sure to do better in the future, for the betterment of our group." I said to her.
" Hey." She called out to me softly, making me look into her eyes. " You did nothing wrong. I know everything you do regarding our group is in our best interest. I don't know what problem manager SungJae has with you lately, but don't let him get to you. Let's just do what we have to do to get our group off of the ground. Everything is gonna be alright. We got this, yeah?" She said to me.
" Yeah." I muttered back to her.
Youngheun wrapped her arm around mine, guiding me out of the dance practice room so that we could catch up with the others at CEOs Yoon's office.
" So nice of you girls to join us." Was the first thing CEO Yoon said to us when we walked into his office.
" Sorry for being late." Youngheun and I said at the same time, bowing low to the CEO.
" I'm just joking around, nevermind that. I just wanted to talk to you girls about something's regarding you debut since it approaching fast." He said to us, gesturing for us to sit down in one of the chairs.
As we did so, CEO Yoon pulled out a file, placing it on top of his desk and opening it up. " First things first. I will be sharing some names that the team has come up with that could be potential group names. I'm going to read down the list and you all tell me what you think would be suit your group." He said to us.
I was surprised at this. After Manager SungJae basically just told me that I should keep my input to myself, this happens. Isn't that just ironic.
" Alright, so we got National Treasures, Passion Hearts, Girls Next Door, DiVerse, Synergy, Blackswan, Hard Love, and that's all we have for now. Any of those names stick out for any of you?" CEO Yoon asked us.
The members and I all looked at each other, Youngheun taking the paper with the list of name from the CEO when he handed her the paper. We all got out of our seats and huddled around Youngheun, looking over the names on the list again.
" Isn't DiVerse a cute name? It kinda explains our group since we are a diverse group." Larissa spoke up, reaching over Youngheun's shoulder and pointing to the name on the list.
" It's cute but isn't it a little too on the nose?" DaHye responded to her. " Passion Hearts isn't too bad. Since we are passionate at heart for our dreams." She said, looking around at us.
" It kind of sound like the name of a video game." I said to her.
" I don't know, but Blackswan is really standing out to me." Youngheun spoke up, pointing to the name.
" Yeah, me too." I said to her. " We're like the black swans of the industry. Being over looked for the white swans, until we read our wings and show the world just how beautiful the black swans can be." I said to them.
" Oh wow. I like that." DaHye said as she nodded her head and gave a thumbs up.
" I like that eonnie." Larissa piped up as well.
" So I guess we've figured out which one we like the best." Youngheun said handing the ceo the paper back.
" So Blackswan?" CEO Yoon questioned.
" Yes." We all answered back to him.
He nodded his head and picked up a pen from off of his desk and uncapped it. He circled Blackswan on the list before moving the paper to the side and putting the cap back on the pen.
" Alright, next thing I want to discuss with you all is your stage names. It is fine you you all want to keep your name as it is, but if you do want to change it, go ahead and let me know now.
I remained quiet. I didn't want to change my name.
" Now that you mention it, I did want to change my name. I wanted to make my name shorter and a bit more easy to pronounce in the Korean language."
Lariss said speaking up.
"And what would you like to change your name to?" CEO Yoon asked her.
"Leia." She responded to him.
" I would like to change my name as well. I wanted to change it to Judy." DaHye said speaking up as well.
CEO Yoon nodded his head, writing their suggestions down on another piece of paper.
"Ok then." He said as he finished writing down what he needed to, looking back up at us with a smile. " That was all I needed for now. You girls are free to go back to your duties. Please keep working hard with practicing and vocal lessons. Your debut is right around the corner and you girls have to be ready for that." He said to us.
" Yes sir." We all replied to him, standing to our feet to bow at him as we all filed out of his room, going back to the practice room.
Our choreographer, HyoYeon-eonnie was waiting for us as soon as we walked into the practice room.
warnings: brief mentions of struggling to conceive, hella fluff
summary: you return from a day of shopping with a surprise for your husband.
a/n: so, this fic is unbeta’d and was written on my phone, but I was too excited to write it after getting some very wonderful news today - I found out I’m going to become an auntie for the very first time next summer! I’m beyond excited, and it ended up giving me inspiration for how to finally use the ‘Fuzzy Boots’ prompt on my @btsholidaybingo card!
“Joonie?” you call out for your husband as you close the front door of your home, already feeling the heat of the house warming you from the growing winter chill outside. Gently putting the shopping bags containing your few new purchases down to the side, you take off your shoes and your coat and put them in the closet by the front door. You don’t hear an answering call from Namjoon, but you do find his house keys still in the little cubby in the closet when you hang yours back up, so you know he’s home.
Heart fluttering and excitement rolling in your tummy, you grab the handles of your shopping bags and head upstairs, your bare feet sinking into the carpet of the stairs with quiet relief. Even though you decided against heels today, the several hours you spent searching for the perfect items has still left them aching and you once again pat yourself on the back for choosing a thick pile when you decorated the house.
You bite your bottom lip to try and hold back your grin as you head to your bedroom to deposit all but one of your shopping bags, although you can’t help the slight skip in your walk as you once again go over what’s about to happen. Leaving your discarded purchases at the foot of the bed to sort out later, you clutch the most important one tightly as you seek out your spouse.
Surprisingly, he’s not in his home studio, the small soundproof room normally your first port of call on the rare days Namjoon doesn’t head into the BigHit buildings to work. No, instead you find him in the little snug-come-library at the end of the hall, a slight dip in his brow from how concentrated he is on the words in front of him.
The library was a room you both insisted on having when you found this house, as you both needed somewhere to store your vast collections of books you had amassed over your lives. The custom floor-to-ceiling shelving had been fitted perfectly for the room, with a few open spaces left for artwork to break up the visual of hundreds of book spines.
While your respective hoards of literature had combined, there were still traces of your individual hobbies nestled among them. Several small houseplants contributed pockets of green and, as Namjoon pointed out, a sort of poetic contradiction to the many books you owned; the living among the dead, as it were. He tended to them daily, whereas your offerings required much less attention.
In your many years of travelling before and after meeting Namjoon, you’d developed the habit of collecting one small trinket from each country or city you visited. Whether they represented particular landmarks, native animals or cultural figures, you always brought home something to remember each place by, and now many of those trinkets filled the spaces left behind by oddly-shaped books or accompanied a bonsai as it grew between the shelves.
In the centre of the room, on top of the plush mauve rug you’d fallen in love with at first sight, sat two armchairs. They didn’t match each other, but matched you and your husband instead. You’d gotten the idea from UP!, knowing when you’d first seen Carl and Ellie’s individual chairs that you wanted to do that with your future partner. And the library became the perfect place for these perfectly mismatched chairs, another way to show how the two of you had come together in this room that housed so many of your joint passions.
Your chair, currently empty, was the plushest wingback chair you’d ever seen; a beautiful, royal blue velvet chair that made you feel like you were in a house that could be found in a Jane Austen novel. Your husband’s chair, in which he was now sat, was burnt orange in colour, square and simple in shape, with arms curled over to remove any harsh lines. You’d hated it, initially, but the more you’d seen it on the shop floor and then saw your husband lean back into its cushions, the more you decided that it suited him, and that was what mattered. Despite its simplicity, it was a bit too big for you to sit in comfortably, although you would often climb into it and burrow under several blankets when he was away.
You’d now grown accustomed to the barrage of colours and styles in your little library, a fondness for the apparent chaos that still shocked newcomers, making you giggle every time.
As you so often find yourself doing, you take a second to admire Namjoon in his studious reading pose: one leg resting across the knee of the other, his right elbow propped up on the armchair and his hand cradling his chin, index finger extended across his lips in contemplation. His left hand cradles his book seemingly effortlessly, his simple gold wedding band glinting in the warm orange of the afternoon winter sun that pours in through the window across the room. It’s still the only golden piece of jewellery he wears, and it still makes your heart bloom every time you catch sight of it.
In the split second you’ve taken in his appearance, he’s become aware of your presence. Only his eyes move at first, flicking up from the page to the door to see who’s walked in. When he sees you standing in the doorway, however, he immediately slips his bookmark into place and puts the volume down on the little table between the chairs. The ease and immediacy with which he gives you his whole attention never fails to make you feel a little giddy.
“Hey,” Namjoon’s expression melts into his warmest smile, all traces of his previous concentration vanished at the sight of his wife. His eyes briefly drop to the bag in your hand before returning to you. “Have fun shopping?”
You nod as he extends his hand towards you, slipping your palm into his and letting him gently pull you close. He sits you in his lap, one arm curled around the back of your waist and the other gently resting across your thighs, his hand melding to match the curve of your flesh. The warmth of his palm is noticeable even through your jeans, rippling throughout your body like a breeze kissing the surface of a lake.
“Is that for me?” he nods towards the bag by his feet, pressing a gentle, lingering kiss to your temple.
“Nope,” you smile, then pause. “Well, I guess it kinda is. Wanna see?”
If Namjoon is confused, he doesn’t show it. He loves the way you think, loves how you can see something completely different from him when you both look at the same art pieces on your gallery trips, loves how you can find even the loosest connections between two ideas in a way he’d never thought of. He doesn’t always understand you at first, but he loves that about you, so he waits patiently for you to explain.
You lift the bag into your lap, the hand across your thighs moving to secure it in place while you open it. You turn it away from him as you pull out the contents, but he’s not even trying to peep inside; his eyes are focused on you, on the little ways your expression changes when you get thoughtful, or excited, or anxious, and right now you’re a bit of all three.
“Ta-dah!” you singsong proudly, presenting him with a pair of fuzzy, light brown slipper boots. You try not to giggle as his expression falters slightly, although he quickly covers up his obvious confusion with bemused intrigue, gaze jumping between you and the boots as he tries to figure out what the hell is going on.
“These… are for me?” he can tell just by looking at them that the boots are way too small for him, they’re definitely your size, and he’s struggling to figure out how they could be ‘kinda’ for him.
“No, these ones are mine, silly!” you laugh, gently bopping the tip of his nose with your finger. The relieved sigh that falls past his lips only keeps your laughter rolling and he loves the sound, cheeks dumpling as he grins up at you.
“Of course,” he agrees easily, smirking down at the boots as you gently run your fingers through the fluffy material, then cocks his eyebrow. “So how am I involved in this?” he pauses, then tilts his head to one side. “You’re not going to wear them to bed, are you? I know I said your feet are cold but I actually don’t mind it so much anymore-”
“These ones are mine,” you say, cutting him off, holding up your boots for emphasis before twisting in his lap to put them on the floor. His hand on your waist reflexively holds you tighter to keep you from toppling.
When you then look at him with a smile he can only describe as mischievous, he knows he’s fucked: he’s a sucker for your playfulness, willingly walking into even your silliest pranks just to see your face light up and hear the melody of your laughter when you celebrate your victory.
His mind whirs through every option he can think of that could somehow relate those fluffy little boots to himself. Maybe you’ve bought him new slippers too, but like your mismatched chairs they’ll be different styles, perfectly suiting each of you in a way that makes them work together. Maybe you’ve actually bought him matching ones and he can’t decide what will be worse: having to wear them to please you or refuse to wear them to please himself. He feels the smallest flicker of heat in his cheeks when he considers fluffy handcuffs, but he dismisses that though when he remembers how your gaze darkens whenever you get out the pairs you already own rather than brightens, like it has done right now.
He’s at a loss, but you don’t make him wait much longer before you grant him an explanation.
“They didn’t have matching daddy boots, unfortunately, but-” he doesn’t have time to register the term when you pull out the remaining items in the bag with a flourish. “They did have these matching baby boots, and I just couldn’t resist!”
He stares down at the little pair of fuzzy boots, the same light brown colour as yours. They’re barely bigger than your palm as they sit side by side and he doesn’t know how something so small can knock all of the air from his body.
He can’t speak, can’t swallow, almost can’t breathe. He can only stare.
You watch as Namjoon’s features drop and give him a few moments to process the sight in front of him. You’re sure your lip is about to bleed with how hard you’re biting into it, desperate to cry and cheer and celebrate with him but wanting to give him his processing time.
When he doesn’t say anything after a longer time than you were expecting, you begin to worry he’s upset rather than shocked. When he finally speaks, though, his tone is so level you genuinely think he’s angry.
“Y/n,” he says, gaze lifting to meet your eyes and locking onto them. You feel his body grow tense beneath you, the grip on your waist tightening and releasing as he battles with the emotions building in his chest. “Who are these for?” His throat bobs with a dry swallow and you feel your stomach drop a little bit, suddenly realising how this may have come across to him.
You and Namjoon got married nearly two years ago now, and you’ve been trying for a baby for just over a year. During that time, Namjoon has found more than one or two bags of baby clothes tucked away in your side of the closet, onesies and booties in varying designs and colours despite the fact that none of your attempts had been successful. His heart had broken for you every time, knowing how desperate you were to become a mother, but, despite his own deep-seated desire to be a father, he’d insisted you return the items each time and forbade you from bringing home anymore baby items that weren’t gifts for expecting friends or relatives. It was painful for him, too, to keep seeing the negative pregnancy tests in the bathroom trash, but he knew that it would only hurt more if you kept the clothes with no baby to fill them.
It had been months since you’d last even looked at the baby aisles in any stores, but today was the day things changed.
“They’re for us,” you told him gently, the words barely above a whisper yet filling the space between you. You see the tears begin to well in his eyes at the same time his grip on you tightens one last time. He stares up at you, eyes wide and watery and full of hope, and you let the widest grin loose on your lips.
Leaning forward to touch your forehead to his, both yours and Namjoon’s eyes fall closed. Shuddering breaths push at the air between you, your hand pressing to his chest to feel the way his heartbeat gallops under your palm. Your own tears start to glide over the apples of your cheeks as you finally let the weight of your news overwhelm you, knowing that you’re both finally going to see your dreams come to life.
“They’re for our baby.”

Chapter 6: School Days and Kisses
The next day, you’re woken up by something, or more someones, jumping on the bed while screaming - your pup happily yapping. You let out a small groan, trying to burrow further into the warm covers. Inhaling deeply, while sleep still has its hold on you, you breathe in the earthy, musky scent that was definitively not yours. Immediately, your eyes snap open, brain whizzing into action as you sit up promptly, the covers gathering around your belly.
“Noona! Wake up!” Taehyung giggles while he continues jumping on the bed. Jungkook jumps closer to you, flopping over your lap before smiling up at you with his bunny-esque smile. Meanwhile, Jimin stands a little to the side of the bed, smiling shyly at you. Soon, you realise that you aren’t currently in your own bed, but Namjoon’s, your heart slowing once the fear of being in an unknown environment passes. However, your cheeks heat when you realise you spent the night in Namjoon’s bed, your heart now speeding up for a different reason.
“Daddy is making breakfast, he said there’s a toothbrush for you in the bathroom. It’s the green one,” Jimin says, a small smile on his face, his feet shifting as he looks at you through his thick lashes. Your heart lurches, wanting nothing more than to grab the adorable boy and pepper him with kisses. Jimin looks at you expectantly, little brows furrowed and you nod.
“Tell daddy I’ll be down in five minutes,” you say. Taehyung and Jungkook cheer before running out of the room, already screaming for their father, Monie running after them. You quickly get out of bed and walk into the bathroom, spotting the brand new toothbrush: still in its packet. Your heart warms at Namjoon’s thoughtfulness. Swiftly, you check the time on your phone before groaning as you realise you are undoubtedly going to be late for work. You quickly send a message to your manager, explaining the situation before hastily brushing your teeth and washing your face.
When you exit the bathroom, you’re startled by Jimin’s presence. He’s sitting on the bed, legs dangling over the side as he patiently waits. When he notices your arrival, he hops off the bed before slowly approaching you. You take in a sharp breath, not wanting to make any sudden movements. Jimin is usually the last person who was happy to be in your presence alone, always needing either of his brothers or his father with you. So his sudden willingness to be alone with you throws you off. Deciding to ignore the marginally strange behaviour, you move to walk towards the bedroom door. However, you’re considerably startled by the sudden smaller hand moving into your large palm. You look to Jimin in surprise. His eyes are pressed firmly to the floor, a prominent blush on his puffy cheeks as he rests his small hand in yours. You try and resist the urge to grin, positively over the moon over this one action. Jimin had finally let you into his little world.
The two of you walk downstairs, following the sound of barking, cluttering of pots and pans and Taehyung and Jungkook’s voices. Once you get to the threshold of the kitchen, Jimin lets go of your hand, joining in the chaos that is currently the kitchen. Namjoon is standing over the kitchen island, looking down at his iPad, a mix of pure confusion and frustration etched on his face. Next to him, Taehyung and Jungkook have crawled onto one of the seats, both of them sneakily reaching for the bowl, dipping their fingers into what looks like pancake batter before licking it off while giggling to themselves as Namjoon is moderately preoccupied. Jimin walks over to them, looking between his younger brothers and father before deciding to join Jungkook and Taehyung while Rap Mon happily wags his tail, following Namjoon.
“Ahem,” you clear your throat, startling Namjoon. He whips around, eyes wide. The two of you stare at each other, knowing you’re both in unfamiliar territory. His eyes leave your face, travelling down your body as his pupils dilate. Your own gaze follows his, trailing down to look at your figure. Your blush deepens when you remember you’re wearing one of his much larger t-shirts, and your panties and nothing else.
“Oh… OH! I’m so sorry! Jimin threw up on my clothes yesterday while you were away and I had nothing else to change into. I hope you don’t mind,” you quickly blurt out. Namjoon clears his throat in response, cheeks heating red while he shakes his head.
“No! It’s alright. My shirt is the least I could offer after you took care of the boys yesterday,” Namjoon hastily replies. If he’s being completely honest, he doesn’t mind at all. In fact, his mind is currently warring between wanting to wake up like this every day and moving to grab you and kiss you senselessly. The latter of which he definitely cannot do right now, considering his sons are watching both of you.
“Do you need some help?” you ask and Namjoon looks sheepish, rubbing the back of his head.
“I was trying to make pancakes for breakfast as a thank you. But it’s not really going well…” Namjoon trails off, causing you to giggle at him. Slowly, you pad over to him, taking the whisk from his hand.
“I can make pancakes. Why don’t you put the pan to heat? And try not to burn yourself,” you say pointedly, busying yourself with whisking the batter.
“Hey! This was supposed to be my way of thanking you,” Namjoon pouts and you bite your lip, suppressing a smile.
“Well, it can be my thank you to you for letting me sleep in your bed. And if you really want to, I’ll let you cook the pancakes. Deal?” you ask and Namjoon grins, dimples deepening.
“That I can do!” he replies cheerily, saluting you with a spatula in his hand. The two of you share the kitchen, laughing and giggling to yourselves as Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook run around with Rap Mon.
Once breakfast is ready, the five of you gather on the dining room table once again. You aid Namjoon in dishing out the pancakes, syrup and orange juice. Breakfast is, as usual where the boys are concerned, a chaotic affair. Somehow, Taehyung manages to miss his mouth while eating, getting pancake crumbs and syrup all over his face; Jungkook’s sticky fingers only succeed in making everything stickier and Jimin somehow manages to spill all his juice over himself. Through it all, Namjoon looks only somewhatexasperated while you’re left laughing the entire time.
“Oh fu-” Namjoon almost swears as he looks at the time.
“What’s wrong?”
“We’re running late. I still need to get Jungkook and Taehyung dressed for school, find Jimin a sitter this late and then get to the studio myself. I have meetings with producers and management all day. Also, I need to drop you off at work,” Namjoon begins listing things off, tutting to himself before grumbling over how this wouldn’t be happening if he knew how to make pancakes.
“Actually, I messaged and told them I couldn’t come in today so I’m only on call. I don’t need to be anywhere unless there are any major issues with the animals or something. I figured I’d be late anyway considering I had no clothes. If you need me to, I can take the boys to school and come back to look after Jimin. I assume he can’t go back for a few days,” you say casually with a shrug. Jimin and Taehyung let out a little whine at the thought of being separated.
“I… would you mind? I hate to ask,” Namjoon says sheepishly and you tut, already standing up and gathering the plates.
“Once again I’m offering. It’s really no big deal. Hanging with Jimin would be better anyway. We can have fun, right puppy?” you ask, Jimin shyly nodding at you.
“Well that settles it! I’ll stop off at my apartment on the way to dropping them and pick up some clothes too. Also Monie’s food and stuff,” you iterate, mentally creating a list of things you’ll need to bring.
“That works. I’m going to get dressed then. Oh! I’ll throw in your clothes from yesterday in the wash,” Namjoon says with a small smile. After that, he runs upstairs to get ready for the day, leaving you with the task of cleaning up.
You walk into the kitchen, the boys following you as if you were a mother duck and they were little ducklings. Promptly, you begin to load the dishwasher, the boys helping by passing plates, causing you to smile at their politeness. The domesticity of the entire situation isn’t lost on you. The entire weekend feels as if you’d somehow been accepted into Namjoon’s little family and that the five of you were playing house, and no matter how much you try, you simply can’t shake off the feeling. The slight churning in your stomach deepens and you aren’t sure if it’s in anxiousness or eagerness.
“Noona? We have to get ready for school or we’ll be late,” Taehyung says as he tugs on the hem of Namjoon’s shirt by your knees. You break out of you little reverie, smiling down at him.
“Alright, come on then,” you say, grabbing Jungkook and Taehyung’s hand as Jimin takes Taehyung’s other hand. The four of you quickly climb the stairs and before long, you’re ushering them into their respective rooms. Luckily for you, Namjoon had already picked out their clothing, laying it on the bed. Jimin sits on his bed, pouting as he watches you dress Taehyung, Jungkook pulling on his trousers because ‘I can do it myself’. Honestly, you have no idea how to explain his sudden, random, bursts of independence.
Ten minutes later, both Jungkook and Taehyung are ready and dressed for school, their little rucksacks on their backs as they smile up at you. Jimin’s eyes are slightly shiny with tears, his lip quivering as he grips tightly onto Taehyung’s hand. Your heart goes out for them; is today one of the first times they’ve ever be separated? It doesn’t seem right. They’re a package deal: Taehyung and Jimin, Jimin and Taehyung. You just cannot have one without the other.
“Alright boys, ready?” Namjoon calls out as he pops his head in the doorway of Jimin and Taehyung’s bedroom. You turn around, smiling at him while the boys run up to him.
“Perfect. Driver Lee is here to pick me up. Do you need a ride?” Namjoon asks as he glances at his watch. You bite your lip as the domesticity of everything washes over you once again before you shake your head.
“No, I need to stop off at home and grab some clothes because I can’t exactly drop them off looking like this,” you say, gesturing towards your outfit, “besides, that would make you even later. It’s alright, I’ll drive them,” you continue and Namjoon nods before thrusting something in your arms.
“They’re a pair of shorts. I figured you couldn’t leave the house without… trousers on,” Namjoon says looking away as his cheeks colour. You feel your own face heat up, graciously accepting the article of clothing from him. Namjoon turns away, allowing you to swiftly step into the shorts. They’re much bigger on you than you expected, but they only needed to cover you till you get back home to change so you don’t mind as much.
“Alright, come on then! Before we’re all later than we are,” Namjoon says as he begins ushering you out once again. You quickly grab your keys and Rap Mon’s harness, placing the boys in the back of your car and your pup in the boot.
“Be good at school today okay boys? Daddy will come pick you up at the end,” Namjoon says, dropping kisses onto Taehyung and Jungkook’s foreheads as they nod and smile enthusiastically. “And you! Be good for ____, okay? Daddy will see you after work,” Namjoon continues, dropping a kiss on Jimin’s forehead. Jimin nods, eyes once again tearing up.
Turning to you, Namjoon smiles, “thanks for doing this. I owe you,” he says, smiling gratefully, dimples deepening, as he bends down and drops a kiss on your cheek. You startle somewhat at the unexpected action, watching as Namjoon waves to the lot of you while he gets into the car. The four of you wave him off, before you touch the spot on your cheek where he’d kissed. Biting your lip, you let out a large grin, getting in your car. Once you make sure all their seatbelts are on, you drive off towards your apartment.
Half an hour later, you find yourself outside the boys’ elementary school. Luckily, you’ve made it in time - with a few minutes still to spare. As you guide the boys out of the car, you notice the sudden stillness of the previously bustling people around you. The parents are all staring at you in wide-eyed wonder, children looking at you curiously. Your brows furrow a little before deciding to ignore them as Jungkook and Taehyung ecstatically pull you towards the school’s entrance. Stopping short, you squat down to their level, smoothing out their hair and fixing their clothing. Jimin and Taehyung are still gripping hands tightly, Jimin’s eyes tearing up as his bottom lip juts out with a quiver.
“I wanna go with Taehyungie,” Jimin whines, making your face soften.
“Jiminie, you can’t go to school today. You’re still sick and you could make the other children sick,” you gently reply. Jimin sniffles at your words, but nods - even as his pout deepens. Taehyung lets go of Jimin’s hand, only to hug his brother.
“It’s okay Jiminie! Kookie and I will go to school and then we’ll come home and play pirates,” Taehyung says cheerily. Jimin sniffles again, pulling away and rubbing his eyes before sticking out his small pinky.
“Promise?” he asks and Taehyung nods, wrapping his little finger around Jimin’s chubbier one.
“Promise!” Taehyung says, a boxy smile etched on his face and little teeth on display. Jimin nods, rubbing his tears away with his small fists before letting out a watery smile. Your heart warms at their actions. After fussing over the boys, you check your watch, only to realise it’s almost time for you to leave.
“____!” Someone calls out and you quickly turn to watch Sooyun approaching with Sungwoo, Jaewoo and Suri in tow. You wave at her as she approaches you, Sungwoo and Jaewoo already running up to Taehyung and Jimin.
“Sooyun-ssi! Hi! It’s been a while,” you greet politely with a bow.
“Please, just call me Sooyun. I see you’re dropping the boys off,” she says, her eyes twinkling.
“Yeah Jimin is sick so I’m dropping Tae and Kook off and then Jiminie and I are gonna go home,” you say with a smile. Sooyun smiles, her eyes glinting with mischief.
“Home?” she asks, eyebrow raising. You blanch, your cheeks heating.
“I mean Namjoon’s home! Not mine! Or that his home is my home!” you quickly blurt out, making her laugh at you.
“Aha, it’s okay! I hope you get better Jiminie,” Sooyun says, bending down and ruffling Jimin hair. He smiles, thanking her before shifting closer to you shyly, holding onto the material of your leggings.
“We’ll miss you at school Jimin,” Suri says, a bright toothy smile on her face. Jimin blushes, burying his head into your leg before nodding. You hear the bell ring and quickly glance towards your watch, realising you have to leave now. You watch Sooyun wave at the boys as they run off, blowing them kisses.
“Alright then, today was my day to take the children to school cause Jaebum’s got an important meeting. But I need to run or I’m gonna be late for work myself! Hopefully, I will see you around soon ____,” Sooyun says, bidding you goodbye with a bow before rushing off. You wave goodbye before turning back to the boys.
“Okay boys, be good! Daddy will pick you up,” you say as you move to leave. However, before you can fully turn, Jungkook is tugging at your leggings. You crouch down to his level again, looking at him curiously. Jungkook’s twists his left leg shyly, looking away with a pout.
“Daddy always kisses us goodbye,” Jungkook softly mumbles and you giggle at his actions. Swiftly, you gather him into your arms, tickling his sides and making him burst into laughter before pressing a kiss on his cheek.
Taehyung fists the material of your leggings by your knees, jumping up and down. “Me too! Me too!” he calls out, grinning up at you and sticking out his chubby cheeks towards you. You grin, pressing a sloppy kiss against his skin.
“There we go! Happy?” you ask them both and they nod eagerly before turning and running into the school. You watch them go, feeling a little more attached and maudlin than you should. Once they’ve completely disappeared from your view, you turn back to Jimin, who’s staring longingly at the doors Taehyung and Jungkook had just disappeared from.
“You okay puppy?” you ask, Jimin turns to you, staring up at you with sad eyes.
“Will it be long before they’re back noona?” Jimin asks with a pout and your face softens before you shake your head. You comfortingly pet his head, brushing his hair out of his eyes.
“They’ll be back before you know it! But now, you get to spend time with noona and Monie,” you say, grabbing his hand and walking towards the car. Jimin climbs into the back, Monie happily wagging his tail before licking Jimin’s cheeks, causing the boy to let out a bright smile as you buckle him in.
“Jimin? You up puppy?” you ask, entering his room with a steaming bowl of dakjuk and Jimin’s antibiotics. You walk in to find Jimin sitting up in bed, Monie laying beside him as Jimin stares at Taehyung’s empty bed. Your face crumples at his clear sorrow. Placing the tray on his bedside table, you crawl into his bed beside him, practically falling off the bed from how small it is.
“Noona, are they almost home?” Jimin sniffles causing you to gather him into your arms. Jimin’s small body curls around you, burying his head in your stomach, little fists clenching your shirt.
“They’ll be home in a few hours Jiminie,” you say, patting his head soothingly. Jimin lets out a little sniffle, burying further into your stomach.
“I thought if I slept then they’d be home,” Jimin says, voice muffled by your stomach. You slump defeatedly, knowing it must be completely new for both of them to be separated from each other. Briefly, your mind wanders to Taehyung, wondering if he’s okay or if he’s missing his twin as much as Jimin’s missing him.
“It’s only a little while till they come home, puppy. Until then, let’s have some lunch yeah? Noona made dakjuk and then you can take your medicine and you’ll get better,” you say, patting his back. Jimin nods, shifting so that he’s sitting up again. You smile down at him, brushing the tears nestled within his eyelashes before reaching for the rice gruel.
You feed Jimin the porridge, spooning little mouthfuls of the gruel into his mouth, making little sound effects to try and get him to eat the entire bowl. Jimin’s eyes are trained on you the entire time, watching you feed him with idle curiosity. You can almost see the little gears in his brain moving, and from the slight downward quirk of his lips, you know he wants to ask you something. Patiently, you wait for him to gather his courage, wondering what had gotten him so interested.
“Noona?” Jimin finally calls out and you hum in response, feeding him another spoonful of his lunch.
“Do you like anyone?” Jimin asks causing you to choke on your spit. You look at him in slight terror, wondering why he’d asked you that all of a sudden. Your mind automatically flashes to Namjoon, causing you to blush.
“Maybe… do you like someone?” you ask, turning the question on him, Jimin’s face scrunching up in distaste.
“No! Girls have cooties,” Jimin quickly replies, causing you to laugh at his childlike response.
“Noona is a girl… does noona have cooties?” you ask cheekily. Jimin’s eyes widen before quickly shaking his head.
“No!”
“Well what about Yunnie-noona? Does Yunnie-noona have cooties?” you ask and once again Jimin shakes his head.
“No! Yunnie-noona and you don’t count,” Jimin recounts, making you giggle.
“What about Suri?” you question curiously. Jimin immediately blushes, looking away. Your eyes sparkle lightly, making a mental note to tell Namjoon that his son has a not so little crush on Suri.
“Suri has cooties,” Jimin whispers lowly.
“Does that mean you want to stop hanging out with her?” you ask and Jimin shakes his head for a third time.
“No, we can’t! She plays with Taehyungie, Jaewoo-ah and Sungwoo-ah and me!” Jimin says and you laugh at him, nodding sagely.
“Does that mean you like Suri and want her to be your girlfriend?” you ask, causing Jimin to blush deeper as he looks down at his covers.
“Maybe,” he pouts before suddenly looking up at you.
“Hey! I asked you first,” Jimin calls out and you exhale a breath of air in exasperation, knowing you’d been caught trying to change the topic.
“Who do you like?” Jimin asks curiously, cocking his head to the side. You bite your lip, unsure of what to say. Because really, how do you tell the six-year-old boy, who’d just asked you who you liked, that you like his father? Should you even tell him?
“Is it daddy?” Jimin follows up and once again you choke on your own spit, coughing a little before turning to him with wide-eyed horror. How did he figure that out?
“I-I-I-” you stutter before gulping as you try to calm yourself down.
“I think daddy likes you. Like how Bummie-hyung likes Yunnie-noona,” Jimin continues, the words rolling off his tongue casually, causing you to cock your head at him in interest. However, before you can ask him more about why exactly he thinks that, he’s already moving the conversation along.
“Are Taehyung and Gukkie almost home now?” Jimin asks. You turn to the clock on his bedside table, shaking your head.
“Still a little bit longer Chim,” you say, Jimin’s shoulders slumping as he pouts. You reach over for his medicine, mind still occupied with why he thinks his father likes you but not knowing how to bring it up again. More than that, however, you want to take his mind off of Taehyung and Jungkook.
“Alright come on, it’s medicine time. And then we can go watch Pokemon, okay?” you say, trying to distract him from missing his brothers. Jimin nods enthusiastically causing you to internally applaud your success of cheering him up.
Namjoon waits in the school playground, checking his watch. Taehyung and Jungkook would be out any minute now. He only has to wait a few more minutes before the bell rings, signalling the end of school. Standing up straighter, Namjoon watches as droves of children run out of the entrance, keeping an eye out for his own two sons. A couple more minutes later and he spots them both, waving and calling out their names. Taehyung and Jungkook’s eyes light up as they run towards their father.
“Daddy!” they both call out, wrapping their arms around each of his legs and grinning up at him. Taehyung lets go of him, looking around before his face falls.
“Daddy, where’s Jiminie?” Taehyung asks with a pout, as he continues looking. Namjoon’s chest tightens and he crouches down to his son’s level, taking Taehyung’s smaller hands in his.
“Jiminie is at home, tiger. You’ll see him soon, I promise,” Namjoon says and Taehyung nods, eyes tearing up in the slightest. Namjoon’s heart lurches again; he can’t even imagine how lonely Taehyung must feel after spending an entire day without his other half. He quickly ushers the boys to the car, crawling in the back with them before buckling them in.
“How was your day? What did you learn today?” Namjoon asks as the driver pulls out of the school.
“I learned about mermaids!” Taehyung grins up at him. Namjoon’s brows furrow, looking at his son curiously.
“Your class learned about mermaids today?”
“No daddy. I learned about mermaids. I don’t know what the class learned,” Taehyung replies, rolling his eyes. Namjoon laughs at his son, shaking his head before turning to Jungkook who’s staring at all the parents outside walking with their children. His eyes are trained on a mother, walking with her sons.
“Nochu? You okay buddy?” Namjoon asks, Jungkook finally breaking away. He looks at his father with large doe eyes, his head imperceptibly cocked to the side.
“Is noona our mommy?” Jungkook asks casually. Namjoon lurches, brows quirked as he looks at his son in interest.
“Why do you ask that?” Namjoon questions, more than confused at Jungkook’s sudden question.
“People from my class saw noona dropping us off,” Jungkook replies.
“Yeah! And we’ve never had a mommy take us to school so Sungwoo and Jaewoo asked us if noona was our mommy,” Taehyung butts in. Namjoon bites his lips; he hadn’t thought of that before. Usually, it’s him or one of his friends dropping the boys off. This would have the first time ever that someone other than them had dropped his children off at school. Let alone another woman.
“She’s not your mommy buddy,” Namjoon says gently, Jungkook nodding before looking away as Taehyung’s body slumps.
“Why? Would you like noona to be your mommy?” Namjoon finally gathers the courage to ask.
Without missing a beat, “Yes!” Taehyung quickly calls out, figure perking up, Namjoon’s brows rising at his enthusiasm.
“Why’s that?”
“Because she does things a mommy does. Like take care of us and hug us and kiss us goodbye. Like Yunnie-noona does for Jaewoo and Sungwoo,” Taehyung says with a bright smile. Namjoon’s chest falls significantly in his chest. He had no idea his sons were missing a mother. Why would he have? They’ve never had a mother in the first place. He’s always tried to be the best parent he could have been for them, but he should have known that they’d see other children and their mothers and that they would have gotten curious. However, this only serves to solidify his want to date and pursue a relationship with you.
“What about you Kook? Do you want noona to be your mommy?” Namjoon asks. Jungkook’s lips turn downwards in the slightest before he shakes his head.
“Why’s that?” Namjoon sputters out, unable to hide the complete surprise in his tone.
“Noona is my girlfriend,” Jungkook replies simply but assuredly. Namjoon blinks owlishly at his son, trying to process his words. Once his mind finally catches up, he cannot help the small laugh that escaped his lips.
“What if I want noona to be my girlfriend?” Namjoon asks, Jungkook frowning.
“She’s mine daddy. I saw her first,” Jungkook replies petulantly, crossing his arms. He goes quiet for a little while before looking at his father from the corner of his eye, “but if you want her that’s okay… we can share,” Jungkook continues, making Namjoon laugh again.
“No Kookie! If noona becomes daddy’s girlfriend then she can be our mommy and stay with us forever,” Taehyung interjects. Jungkook looks at his older brother with wide eyes before turning to his father so quickly Namjoon almost gets whiplash.
“Okay, daddy! You can have noona! You have to make noona your girlfriend,” Jungkook says, voice completely serious. Namjoon reels from the sudden change in Jungkook’s tone.
“So… if daddy was to ask noona to be his girlfriend, you wouldn’t mind?” Namjoon asks. As much as he wants to be with you, there’s no way he could even think about asking you out if his sons aren’t okay with it. Especially considering that they’d be affected by his decision too.
“Do you think Jimin would be okay with daddy making noona his girlfriend?” Namjoon asks and Taehyung nods enthusiastically.
“Jiminie said he likes when noona reads us bedtime stories and that she gives nice hugs, like a mommy would,” Taehyung says with a beaming smile. Namjoon smiles at his sons before nodding. Now that he had his sons’ blessings, the only thing stopping him from making you his, is himself. Butterflies bloom in his stomach as the car nears towards his home, now nervous about seeing you. Would you say yes? He sincerely hoped so.
Minutes later, the car pulls into his drive. Namjoon grabs the boys’ bag, opening the car door, he watches the two of them run up to the front door of the house. Shutting the car door, he bids the driver goodbye before turning back to his sons. Sucking in a sharp breath, he watches you answer the door, Jimin in your arms and a bright smile on your face. You place Jimin down on the ground, laughing as both he and Taehyung run to each other, hugging one another as if they hadn’t seen each other in years. Namjoon watches Jungkook runs up to you, raising his arms up in a motion to pick him up. You lift him up without question, Jungkook giggling before snuggling into your shoulder, small arms wrapped around your neck.
Namjoon’s throat closes in emotion and he has to swallow thickly as he watches Taehyung and Jimin run past you. You place Jungkook back down, laughing at them as he runs back in too before turning to face Namjoon. You’re slightly taken aback by the intense gaze he’s levelled at you. You shift from foot to foot nervously, eyes trained on Namjoon as he slowly approaches you. Soon, he’s only a few inches away from you, towering over you as you look up at him.
“Hi. Welcome home,” you say hesitantly, unsure of what else to say. Namjoon’s chest constricts. It definitely feels like coming home. More than it ever has. His arms wrap around you, pulling your body into his chest. Your eyes widen at the sudden movement, arms automatically resting on his chest as you stare up at him curiously through your lashes. His eyes search over your face, looking for any sign to say you want this as much as he does. He finds it: when your eyes briefly flick to his lips before looking back into his eyes, face heated at his close proximity.
Then, before he can control himself, he’s bending down and kissing you.
