do u think sky likes to put feathers in his + other people's hair.... i think he does.... i think he puts them into legends hair after he braids it, or puts one into suns hair when she ties it into a ponytail.
i think he uses his loftwings feathers for it. he just collects them.
🦊ok ive calmed down a bit from update anxiety, and have a question! what was your favorite panel of the update?? :0 mine was probably every Wars and Ledge panel, again im incredibly indecisive on favorites akdkskkfkgj
Honestly, the two pages of Warriors and Sky parenting the boys are my favorite <3
That said, if I HAD to choose a favorite panel, it would be this one
Just.... as much as I love the Dad Warriors content we got today, i have to say Soft Dad Sky has my heart and him and Legend interacting is gold to me <3
Hi! So I went through a whole bunch of prompts on tumblr a while back, and put a lot of my favourites in a document. I’m gonna try my hand at writing some of them out, this is the first one. And this was the prompt:
At some point the Chain end up in a dungeon that requires a descendant of the goddess Hylia to open a door/stop a trap/whatever. Everyone is scrambling, either trying to find another way out or find something of their Zelda’s in their inventory to try and see if that’ll work(it doesn’t). Meanwhile, Legend gives the most exhausted sigh before begrudgingly doing The Thing to everyone’s shock, revealing that he’s a descendant of the goddess (Sun&Sky) and his Zelda’s brother.
I got it from the tumblr blog Linkeduniverse-prompts, ‘Prompts for the Bois’. We’ll see how I go with writing more. This was fun to do, I can’t deny. :)
The latest switch had dumped them at the start of a large and sprawling dungeon. The puzzles were difficult, though not impossible, and were solved quickly enough. Due to the sheer size of the dungeon, they’d split up into groups of three, Time assigning Twilight with Wild and Four, then Warriors with Sky and Wind, and Time himself with Hyrule and Legend. At least one ‘responsible’ Link per group, to handle one each of the three main ‘irresponsible’ ones in the group.
Aka, Wild, Wind, and Hyrule…
Legend knew that he was with Hyrule since the two of them got along really well, and that Warriors and Sky could both handle Wind with ease. Twilight and Wild had that mentor-ship thing going on, and he supposed Four was with them because he also knew about Twilight’s ‘fluffy’ secret. Seriously though, half the group already knew, the mutt really should just suck it up and tell the others already!
He had no idea how the other groups were doing, but he, Hyrule, and Time were killing their section of the dungeon. The item for the dungeon must be a mirror shield or something, and since Legend always had his mirror shield with him, they were able to breeze through all of their section. All in all, they found fifty rupees, some arrows, two keys, and the compass. After that, they headed back to the rendezvous point to wait for the others.
…It was taking a lot of time…
“Where are they?” Hyrule wondered. “Should we go looking for them?”
“Give them another half hour,” Time said.
“You said that half an hour ago, old man,” Legend grumbled.
Time sighed. “Half an hour,” he repeated. “Then we’ll go looking.”
Twenty minutes later, Twilight, Wild, and Four appeared.
“We found the mini-boss,” Four told them. “It was a pain.”
“We got the compass, as well as the main item for the dungeon,” Twilight said. “Though I don’t really have any need for a mirror shield…”
Legend smirked. Called it!
“I told you, Twi,” Wild almost whined. “If you and Four don’t want it, I’ll have it!”
“There’s no way I’m giving you this shield,” Twilight growled. “Especially not after everything you were saying you could do with it!”
…Legend decided he really didn’t want to know what that was.
“It’s not that bad, Twi…” Wild grumbled.
“It really is,” Four disagreed. “But we can decide- fairly- who can have it later. I know the Captain has been wanting one, hasn’t he?”
“You wanna give that narcissist a mirror shield?” Legend scoffed at the idea. “Pretty boy would be staring at himself all day, we’d never get anywhere!”
Wild was looking mutinous, but didn’t say anything further once he got a ‘Look’ from Time, though it didn’t stop him sulking.
That half an hour that Time mentioned came and went, and fifteen minutes after it had passed, Wind came running. “Hey guys, we’ve got an issue!” he greeted them, motioning for them to follow. “C’mon!”
“What is it?” Time asked as they all traipsed after the sailor.
“Is it an enemy?” Hyrule asked. “A tricky puzzle? Did someone hurt themselves?”
Wind shook his head. “There’s some text that needs translating, none of us can read it,” he told them. “The Captain thinks it might be the boss key since the chest is so fancy, so… important, ya know?”
They passed through a room with signs of a major fight, making Legend think that this dungeon might’ve had two mini-bosses, to a room beyond, with an ornate chest sitting behind metal grating. There was a stone slab with writing carved into it next to the grating, obviously telling them how to get to the chest.
They all stepped forward, one by one shaking their heads and stepping back, except Four who claimed the alphabet as his own. “I can read it,” he told them, then read it out loud, “‘To the one who reaches this way-point, May your way ahead be blessed by the Divine Goddesses. Let the Blood of the Goddess of the Sky lead you to the treasure that lies within.’ Uh, guys, what does it mean by the blood of the goddess of the sky? Who’s that?”
“That would be Hylia,” Sky said. “She’s the one who led the people up to the sky for their protection.”
“The blood of the goddess… Hmm,” Warriors’ hand came up to rest on his chin thoughtfully. “My guess would be, since Hylia shed her immortality, it would mean anyone descended from her first incarnation, your Zelda, Sky, would be the one we need this blood from.”
“Where the bloody hell are we going to get Zelda’s blood?” Wind demanded. “We’re stuck in the middle of a dungeon! I don’t think we can just pop out, go grab the local Zelda, and ask her for a pint of her blood now, can we!?”
“Well, what are we going to do then?” Hyrule asked. “Are we… are we stuck?”
“No, we’ll think of something,” Time reassured them all. “Maybe… We could try to see if there’s any other way to get to the chest. Perhaps if someone has something of their Zelda’s…?”
“I have my sailcloth,” Sky said, pulling of that cloak of his. “Sun is the one who made it for me, maybe that could work?”
“Put it on the tablet,” Four said, pointing to the stone. “That’s where the ‘blood’ has to go.”
Sky did so and they waited, but nothing happened. “Anyone got anything else?” he asked after reclaiming his cloak.
Everyone started searching their belongings, coming up empty. Then a discussion started about how they could get in there through other means (“I don’t think even a fairy could fit through those bars…” Hyrule laughed nervously.) There was talk of bombing it, trying to melt the steel, and other destructive solutions that rather naturally started with Wild.
Legend sat on the ground with his pack, having searched through it in the hopes of… putting off the inevitable, he guessed. He hadn’t really… There was no way he’d intended… He hadn’t wanted to tell everyone that he was Fable’s sibling, there weren’t a whole lot of people who even knew it in his own time. Just him, Fable, Impa, and Ravio (he wasn’t sure if Ravio had told Hilda…). It wasn’t a secret for any great reason, other than the fact that Legend really really just wanted to live as normal a life as he could, considering that he was the ‘hero’.
They’d only found out about their relation after his fourth adventure, anyway…
Letting out a huff, he stood and made his way over to the stone slab, gently shoving Warriors, who was examining it for hidden clues once more, out of the way. “Move it, Cap,” he said, his resignation and reluctance unfortunately seeping through in his voice.
“What’re you… Vet! What are you doing?”
Legend had pulled a small dagger out of his pack, and he now stood before the stone tablet, drawing the blade lightly across his palm. He held back a wince at the light sting, then flicked his hand toward the stone, his blood splattering onto it. Hyrule came forward, dragging him away from it.
“What were you thinking?” he demanded as he inspected the shallow slice.
“You didn’t actually think that will work, do you?” Warriors demanded, disbelief evident in his voice, “Because I seriously doubt that you are…”
“Hey! It’s working!”
Wind’s voice cut through Warriors’ words, and they all turned to stare at the tablet, where Legend’s blood was now glowing gold on it. The whole thing flashed a brilliant white, disappeared, then the grating on the wall lowered with a metallic screech that caused them all to wince and in some cases, cover their ears. They all stared in shock at the now accessible chest.
Legend rolled his eyes when he realised that no one was stepping forward to open it, so he pulled out of Hyrule’s now limp grasp then went and opened the chest. Sure enough, the boss key sat in there, and he quickly pocketed it. Turning to the others, he saw that they were all staring at him in shock, with Warriors, Wind, and Hyrule practically gaping at him.
“You’re… y-you’re…”
Legend smirked. “What was that you were saying, Cap?” he asked. “You seriously doubted I… what? That I knew what I was doing?”
“…You’re… you’re…”
Farore’s ass, the Captain was definitely speechless, wasn’t he? Legend simply stared at the man, before Wars shook his head in his confusion and plonked himself down on the ground, muttering to himself. The others started to recover their wits as well, and soon enough, Legend was being overwhelmed with questions. (mostly from Wind)
“Are you really related to your Zelda? Are you a cousin, or are you her brother? Have you always been royalty? Does Fable even know? Do you get any perks being royalty? Were you even going to tell us? Hey! Are you even going to answer my questions? Oi! Legend!”
Legend was ignoring Wind, mostly because Hyrule had finally gathered his wits and was dragging him off to the side to deal with his hand, chastising him the whole way. He sighed and let the kid fuss over him, even as Four took Wind aside to calm him since he was being ignored.
“Were you ever going to tell us?” Hyrule asked as he’d healed Legend’s hand, then letting it go.
Legend shook his head as a few of the others came over to where he was. “It’s not really a big deal, anyway,” he said. “Fable and I only found out a little under three years ago. We haven’t really told anyone, only Impa and Ravio know.”
“You’re royalty though,” Wild said, wide eyed as he came over to them. “Prince Legend. Well, Prince Link, really.”
“I don’t actually have a title,” Legend argued, but no one was paying that fact any mind.
“Prince Link!” Twilight said with a shit eating grin. “Zelda’s brother! Wait, are you the elder or younger one?”
Legend sighed. “Fable and I are twins, I’m younger by about five minutes or whatever.”
“Baby prince then,” Twilight grinned, and Legend rolled his eyes.
“Wait a minute…”
It was the Captain who spoke up then, seemingly having recovered from his shock, possibly due to Time, who’d gone to make sure he was okay. He was standing now, and the grin on his face (worse than Twilight’s had been) made it clear that he was more than okay now, and ready to poke fun at Legend.
“You’re Fable’s brother,” he said, and Legend did not like that glint of mischief in his eyes. “That means… You’re descended from Sun.”
“…Yes…?” What was his point?
Warriors glanced at Sky, who also seemed to be having an epiphany as he stared at Legend. “So that would mean, you’re our Chosen Hero’s great-great-great… whatever, grandson! You know, since he’s gonna be marrying Zelda, and definitely having lots of kids! They’ll start the royal line, and that means…”
Oh.
Oh.
Oooohhhh…
Legend looked over and caught Sky’s eye. The First of them looked… Was that…? Well, whatever it was, it vanished, mostly because Sky had come over to hug him so he couldn’t actually see his face anymore. Legend froze for an instant, before forcing himself to relax. Hugs… really weren’t his thing, but he supposed, in the circumstances, he could let Sky have this. He patted the man’s back awkwardly.
“You’re supposed to hug him back,” Twilight said, that stupid grin of his still firmly in place.
Legend glared at him, then sighed as he realised that Sky might not let go until he did. So he brought his arms up and hugged him back. After a few moments, Sky let him go, stepping back to just look at him with that bright, happy smile of his, before Time spoke up.
“As heartwarming as this all is,” he said, “we still have to find our way out of this dungeon. There’s also the boss to defeat.”
He was right of course, and they all gathered their things together, before heading towards where Wild said they’d found the boss room. Legend wasn’t- and also was- looking forward to when they got out of here. He knew that he’d probably have to answer some of their questions at least. As they walked, he noticed that Sky had fallen back to walk with him and Hyrule, and Legend sighed as it dawned on him that his ancestor was probably going to want to spend a lot more time with him now.
…Not that he really had any problem with that, not really.
JUST SO YOU KNOW this might be uncomfortable to read since it does have talk about unsafe binding, method isn't talked about but timewise it's mega yikes. Now, I'm only writing this to kinda vent that I can't bind rn and don't have the money to get a new binder- so I'm living in hoodies in ridiculous hot weather and it sucks but I'll cope in torturing my favourite
...Aka I wanna write Trans dad sky
Afab- Twi (he/they), Leggy (he) n Sky (he)
Amab- pretty much everyone else. Time goes by they/them becuase I want enby time. That's literally it. The others aren't really mentioned but feel free to lemme know your headcanons <3
Sky walked a little more hunched than usual.
His breathing was a bit more worse than usual.
He slept more than usual.
He snapped at the chain a few times too.
Everything was just off about their resident sleepyhead.
They had stopped by a river and the chain insisted they relax, bathe and splash around- Sky instantly shot the idea down with multiple excuses. It was too cold. They were far too exposed and someone needed to watch.
He sat further away from them all, still wearing a few too many layers as his eyes squeezed shut. It hurt so much. He sat with his eyes squeezed shut for minutes, listening to the others splash around in the water.
He wanted to do that. He just couldn't.
He snuck a glance towards them and he instantly wished he hadn't. He was envious of what he saw.
He hesitated before moving back closer to the chain slowly- trying to be mindful of his body, though not like it mattered as the pain shot through his chest once more.
He took his place next to Legend away from the water.
"Hey Apple." He mumbled, watching Legend glance up from cleaning the swords.
"Hey. You return."
Sky hummed in response as he stared towards the water.
"Just go in. I can tell you want too."
Sky wanted to cry right there and then as he shook his head. He swallowed before he could speak "I wish." He mumbled. "I said I'd keep watch."
A sigh left Legend. "Whatever. Your loss."
The Skyloftian wanted to call Hylia out for this cruel joke. She couldn't have waited a few months to take him, could she?
That night, the Skyloftian didn't bother taking any watches. He just put his bedroll on the outskirts of the camp, close enough that he could still hear them talking at the fire they were setting, but far enough to be alone.
He curled up on the bedroll, his body chest and lungs screaming at him. What a cruel joke.
"So, what were the scars on your chest from Twi?" He heard the sailor ask.
"Oh right! I've never told ya guys?"
"Nope! Kinda why I asked."
"Puttin' it simply, I was born in tha wrong body. This is just 'ow I made it tha right body."
Oh what a cruel joke.
Sky felt the hot tears flow down his cheeks. Oh how he wanted to shout at his beloved goddess for this cruel joke.
"Oh cool! Is there anyone else?"
He could hear a few overlapping voices but Sky couldn't listen. He just tried to force himself to sleep but his body told him otherwise.
He didn't even notice the fact he had started sobbing. His face burned. The sobs got stuck in his chest. He bit down on his hand to try silence the sobs, but it only made it worse.
He hated this.
He didn't hear anyone shuffle to him- he just knew someone had when he felt a hand on his arm and a gentle voice that was usually so sarcastic. "Sky?" It almost sounded wrong. He shouldn't be the one being comforted, he did the comforting. This was so wrong.
He spared a glance to the Vet. Oh, how he hated the look he had in his eyes. Something close to pity.
"What's wrong?"
Sky shot up hearing those words. He knew he'd regret what he'd say but he just couldn't stop himself. "What's wrong?" Sky couldn't stop the venom dripping into his voice. "What's wrong is Hylia is playing a cruel joke."
He could feel everyone's eyes on him.
"I didn't know Hylia could get so cruel. She was cruel to us all but now I know how much of playthings we really are."
"Sky. What's gotten into you?"
"Hylia has no mercy!" He couldn't help but laugh, ripping himself away from Legends hand as he began to pace around the camp.
The chain just stared at Sky. They had never heard his voice have such venom- they had never expected that venom to be directed at Hylia of all things.
"Sky, snap out of it!"
Sky just laughed. "And what? Not tell you how cruel she is? She could've waited a few months to take me. But she didn't." He tore the sailcloth from his shoulders and threw it to his bedroll. He didn't care if it got muddied right now.
The younger members of the chain glanced between each other. Twilight was the first to make a move towards Sky. "Oi, Sky, Chill. Sit down an' breathe."
Those words just set Sky off. Maybe it was who they came from or how cruel it was for him to hear 'just breathe' while he was in so much pain.
"I'll breathe when Hylia stops playing favourites."
The look of hurt almost wanted to make Sky stop. The keyword being almost.
Sky threw his layers off in the mud, on top of his sailcloth until he was left with one. He kept pacing. "Hylia couldn't wait a few damned days to take me! I would've been useless but this is all her fault! Hylia waited for you! Why couldn't she have waited for me?"
"Dad." Legend mumbled.
It worked to stop him, Sky's harsh gaze softening as they met Legends. His son... Oh Goddesses, he'd had his little tantrum in front of his son.
"You're bein' mean. What's wrong?"
Sky's anger towards the goddess bubbled away as he began to cry again, collapsing in the mud. His hands went to his honey blond hair and tugged at it. "This isn't fair- ! She just- I want-" He couldn't form any sentences.
He felt Legend wrap his arms around him and he couldn't take it anymore. He sobbed. He pulled at his own hair. He pulled at the fabric covering his chest.
He couldn't breathe. He couldn't breathe. He couldn't breathe. He coul-
"Honey. Follow my breathing." Legend began to breathe and Sky found himself subconsciously matching the exaggerated breaths.
It went on for a few minutes. Sky had finally calmed down, tears still streaming down his face as guilt made its way into him.
He should've kept it all to himself. He should've at least tried. He should have said nothing was wrong. Why did he snap like that?
"Honey? Can you elaborate?"
"Apple... I'm sorry- I don't know why I just-"
Legend cut him off. "It's fine. It musta been there for a while an' whatever we said musta made you snap."
Sky glanced to the chain, the guilt burrowing itself deeper into him. "I really didn't mean too..." He whispered.
He saw the mismatched tunic of Twilight and the guilt worsened. "We can't 'elp ya if ya don't talk." The kindness in Twilight's voice... Sky didn't deserve it.
"Not even Hylia can help me unless she sends me home." He stated, his eyes looking down at the ground. "We know she won't."
"Why would sending ya back ta Skyloft help?"
Sky looked away, looking to Legend with a nervous gaze.
"If I could explain on your behalf, I woulda done it." Legend mumbled.
"I- just don't know how to explain it." Sky fiddled with the sleeve of his remaining layer as he tried to take a deep breath. He felt pain shoot into his chest and held back a wince. He didn't want to be seen as weaker. He won't let them find out. He can just lie. Who's gonna question him anyway?
"Try ta explain it."
Sky didn't want too, fidgeting under everyone's gaze. "Can we do it alone?" He whispered. "You can tell them once I fall asleep but I don't think I can-"
"Course." Twilight offered Sky his hand. "Want Legend ta come with?"
Sky nodded hesitantly, his chest felt tight again. Tighter than usual. He quickly pulled at the layers around his chest, trying to let his chest expand a little more but it wasn't working.
Twilight guided him and Legend a small distance away from the chain. They were still close and Sky hoped no one would over hear them. He didn't know if he would snap again.
"Now, what were ya on about? Why would Hylia sending ya back ta Skyloft 'elp?"
Jumping right in there. Sky couldn't stop the sad laugh escaping him. "What were you talking about before I snapped?" He didn't want to say the words himself. He felt ashamed for snapping at someone who shared what he's going through.
"Everyone's pronouns?"
"Before that."
"My scars?"
Sky shut his eyes and nodded.
"Why would- wait- you're trans too?"
Sky hated haring those words coming from the Rancher. He should've said it himself. "Mhmm-"
"And Hylia took ya before ya could 'ave the surgery?"
Another nod. "A couple days before." His voice was barely above a whisper. Sky could feel the realisation settle in for both of them.
He wanted to leave. He wanted to run deeper into the forest and disappear.
"Shit. Now I understand why you snapped Dad- you were right but it was uncalled for."
Sky wanted to stop and gush over the fact Legend was calling him dad- not honey but Dad. He needed to get through this first. "I know. I'm sorry."
"Ta be 'onest, I think everyone is gonna be so shocked ya 'ave 'eard ya call tha Goddess out like that."
Sky tried to shrink under the Ranchers gaze, though he couldn't exactly do it well without his sailcloth. Oh by the goddess, he threw it in the mud. It's gonna be a pain to clean...
"Anyway, ya shoulda said something to me or the Vet sooner. Ya binding right now, yea?"
Sky nodded slowly. "I didn't know you both were-" He just couldn't being himself to say trans. He hated it. He should be able too say it.
Twilight gave a laugh and ruffled Sky's hair. "Ya shoulda talked ta someone. If not us, Time at least. They're probably one of tha most clueless but they'd do their best ta help. When they found out bout me, they took me somewhere we coulda talked an' made sure nothin' bothered me. Same with Apple 'ere."
Sky could feel Legends frustration at being called Apple by Twilight. "Only dad gets to call me Apple, rancher."
Sky's heart sunk. He just snapped at people who were like him. He should've just held it better. He could've waited. He should've waited. He could've played the harp or anything but snap at his team.
"Oi, don't you go an' start feeling guilty on us."
He nodded. Not like it stopped him.
"Now, when's tha last time ya took your binder off?"
Oh how caring their voices were. Sky needed to prepare himself for that to change quickly.
"Sky?"
He couldn't help but give an awkward laugh.
"Dad."
"Well..." He could feel the atmosphere change.
"How long?" The caring tone was gone- it was so stern now. He could definitely tell Twilight and Time were related.
Sky prepared himself for a lecture, swallowing. "Last watch."
They could hear a pin drop with how silent it was.
"Are ya out of ya mind? That's dangerous! By the goddess- ya still fight an' all? Sky. Ya can't do that. There's a reason ya can't."
Sky wanted to leave. He knew. He just didn't care. "I know." He trained his gaze on the grass and sticks on the ground. He couldn't meet Twilight's gaze.
"It would screw it up so ya can't 'ave surgery!"
His eyes shot up to meet Twilight's.
"Exactly. I can give ya my pelt ta hide in or somethin' but ya need ta take it off. I know it sucks but ya need to let ya body rest. Legend doesn't take watch often for a reason Sky."
Sky knew this. Sky knew this and he refused to acknowledge it until now.
"Dad, you're an idiot sometimes. Lemme go get the pelt so ya can take it off." Legend pried himself free from the grip Sky didn't know he had on his son and left.
Sky lowered himself to the ground.
"Now, if I find out ya keep doing this, I'm confiscatin' it and makin' ya rest. I'll explain it ta Time an' we'll set camp up for a few days."
He just gave a nod.
"If we're travelin' an' ya need ta take it off, jus' tap my arm three times. I'll make an excuse."
Another nod.
"I'll only tell Time for now. If it becomes an issue, I'm tellin' tha others."
"You can tell them." He whispered, hunching his shoulders as much as he could.
"Ya need ta be tha one ta tell 'em."
"I can't."
A sigh left the Rancher before he nodded slowly, though Sky wasn't looking. He was too ashamed.
"Oi! I'm back with tha pelt."
"Thanks Vet."
"Uh- Twi, Legend? Thank you..."
"No need."
This was a cruel joke but at least he had an understanding family. That much Sky could thank the Goddess for.
sorry we're mentally ill about these two. they're cuddling
“Hey, um, are those two...okay?”Sky asks, voice gentle but full of concern as he gestures for the group to look wherever he is.
They find Legend and Four asleep. It wouldn’t be that weird, if they weren’t laying the way they are.
Legend is starfished out on the grass, one hand resting behind his head while the other is looped around Four’s torso, and speaking of—the smithy is laying on top of Legend, cheek smushed up against Legend’s shoulder. Their hair is covering their eyes, but it doesn’t take a genius to know that the hero is out cold. Both seem to be, actually.
“Well. They look comfy.”Twilight mumbles, barely suppressing a chuckle as Wild takes a picture on his slate.
“How is Four comfortable like that?”
“Don’t question it, Wind,”Warriors starts, then lets out a sigh. “I can feel the question already, and it’s because it’s Four and you’ll never get an answer.”
“They’re so precious.”Sky coos, and it almost looks like his eyes have stars in them. Almost.
“Sky, you always say that, even when Four is sleep deprived and looks about ready to kill us all at a minor inconvenience.”Time points out, but gets ignored as Sky simply wanders over to drape his sailcloth over the two.
Drew these two in math class today, I realized that I’ve never drawn Sky before, and my idiot brain decided I should draw him with Legend. I was trying to draw a hug at first, but then I realized that arms are hard, so I just did this instead...
He sleepy...
They are Hylia’s darlings, her lovely husbando and her rebellious son, fight me!
