I don’t really get the Bardock VS Grandpa Gohan discourse. Goku can love his grandpa and feel attached to his bio family at the same time. They both played a big part in his life. Goku can love them both.

It’s like in the Kung Fu Panda 3 subplot with Mr. Ping (Po’s adoptive father) and Li Shan (Po’s bio dad). Ping was jealous of Po’s bond with Li after reuniting with him but eventually realized it was a good thing, which he summarized perfectly in this quote: “But I realized having you in Po’s life doesn’t mean less for me, it means more for Po.”
