TG:re 73... Father and Son.
Yes, this is a very controversial title. But I want you all to really understand something about the relationship between Arima and Kaneki. This relationship closely resembles what a father does for his son. Scolds him for doing wrong. Scolds him for doing something he knows that he taught him the exact opposite of doing. I have to say that this chapter really did it for me. I honestly don’t care about the hatred or the notes this will receive but I will continue to slam this on the table no matter what.
Arima can read Kaneki so well. It is not because Kaneki let his guard down. He didn’t want Arima to see those emotions at all because he knew that he would hesitate; and Arima would kill him. He at least had to make the fight look convincing. Like he wanted to actually survive. I can tell that Arima is very disappointed in Kaneki for holding back on him. After all that he’s taught him, he still continues to sympathize, which is actually what kind of got Kaneki in this position in the first place. All in all, Arima just wants Kaneki to do his mission to the fullest. He knows full well that Kaneki wants to die.
Another thing is; Arima told Kaneki to stop playing around with him. Kaneki knows his weak points. He knows exactly what to do; when to do it, how to do it. But he still holds back. He still holds himself because of who Arima is to him. That signifies that he actually gives a shit about Arima, PAST what he did to him in the previous Tokyo Ghoul. Like a son forgives a father right? I just don’t understand any hatred at this point. I really don’t. This is amazing because it clarified my previous argument about their relationship (see this theory on Arima and Kaneki).
This is just amazing. Really amazing. For the first time I’m more amazed than heartbroken right now.
