Mepheistos is BIG. As in heavy. He is mainly augmented, having willingly sliced away his own flesh early into his creation to replace such corruptible weakness with much more resilient materials. This also means it is more difficult for such a walking siege engine to move. Hence, the creation of Chelicerata to aid him in moving around and more easily interfacing with machinery.
A younger (comparatively) Chaos Space Marine, forged partially of Ultramarine genestock, Mepheistos walked the difficult life of a so called “half-breed”. The scorn he received from his full-blooded brothers only stoked the fires of clever hatred within him, and he knew he must be crafty to surpass such ancient intellects. So, one of his first augments was to be of his own mind. Mepheistos sliced away the right half of his brain, replacing it with the Scylla Cogitator, a winding mass of lenses and mechadendrites affixed to a powerful processor. This augment allows him constant and instantaneous perception and processing of information, but has made him more machine than man.
He bears the great two-handed power hammer Faustbane, which he leans upon when he chooses to walk. This hammer is feared by daemons, for they know when they hear the ring of its blunt edge upon an anvil, their freedom within the warp is soon to come to an end. Mepheistos eagerly binds daemons to his cause, a cause so traitorous he must often walk his path alone….
