Rewatch Thoughts:

William check-in: No mention. Presumably Scully is getting back to work after her maternity leave, now assigned to Quantico as a forensic investigator rather than as a field agent.

Missing Mulder: Kobold: I’ve been thinking a lot about you, Agent Doggett... About why someone so ill-suited would draw this duty. Clearly, you have feelings for her... But you can’t compete with the long-lost Agent Mulder. With his easy good looks, his Oxford education... Mulder has what you can’t have. What you stumble for. The flat-footed cop, thinking he could put handcuffs on a demon... You want her, but she feels sorry for you. They both do. I mean, where’s the lie?

But ugh, guess we’re going down the Doggett pining for Scully route. I get it, Scully’s amazing, of course everyone falls for her. But I don’t want it to become a plot point because, as noted above, he just can’t compete with Mulder in any way.

Reyes: Agent Scully, have you ever sensed what I’m talking about? Scully: I’ve felt things that I couldn’t understand. Things I was afraid to admit even to myself. Reyes: And what did you do? Scully: I learned not to ignore it... to trust my instincts. Makes me think of Pfaster, the evil she sensed and saw in him in Irresistible and the signs she was able to acknowledge in Orison. Dr Kobold even looks kind of like Pfaster.

They were trying something with the interstitial rushing sky visuals this episode - I guess it created a vibe, but overall not super successful for me.

Are they really trying to fake us out that Scully was dead?

Why did they keep bringing Kobold with them to the crime scenes? And they really didn’t need to bring him to the final scene where he escapes, they already knew where they were going 🧐

Doggett, just because Kobold set it all up doesn’t mean he wasn’t also evil...

I enjoyed this Way more than Nothing Important Happened Today. Mytharc really lost all interest for me after Fight The Future tbh, with the exception of Requiem which on the whole I thought was a fantastic episode but as anyone who knows me can attest, I will rant about Requiem for hours if you let me. That’s for another day. 

she went there and Said it and now i keep on thinking about that video Scully Likes Science (which incidentally is what the inside of my head sounds like 24/7 if you were interested)

i take an unreasonable number of screenshots of scully because im just kind of in love with her shh

monica is going on about demon possession and doggett’s FACE bless him please someone help him

she’s so darn smiley and cute i swear anyone who doesn’t like monica can fight me look at her she just wants to infodump about ritualistic murders and demonic possession how could you say no to that wee smile

did i mention i’m a slut for teams/squads/crews/whatever look at them!! a little family!!! w h o l e s o m e

does anyone else remember that time when a guy supposedly possessed by satan or smth sicked up on doggett for like a solid 10 seconds and doggett just Stood there getting spewed on looking vaguely horrified while this guy just vomits orange goo on him and then falls to the floor and is rolling around like a weird ectoplasm fountain and doggett just looks a bit like this:
