“you thirsty?”
“you could say that”
54. “Would it be all right if I borrowed your sweater? It smells like you.” DaiKags Thank you
The worst thing about long distance relationships wasn’t the time between meetings. That’s what technology was for. There were phone calls, and texts, and video calls, and everything in beween. So, no, Tobio wouldn’t say that the time he spent apart from Daichi was the worst part. It was the leaving.
He was lying in Daichi’s bed, relishing in the warmth, and Daichi’s scent, and Daichi’s arms wrapped around him. But he would have to leave soon. Back to Tokyo, where his volleyball career was taking off. And Daichi would stay here, in Miyagi, protecting the citizens and keeping the community safe. Tobio sighed, and nuzzled deeper into Daichi’s hold.
“What’s wrong, love?” Daichi asked gently.
“Don’t wanna go,” Tobio answered plaintively.
“I don’t want you to go either,” Daichi said, holding him tighter. Tobio stayed in Daichi’s hold for a length of time he didn’t care to think about. He never wanted to leave. But he had to.
Reluctantly, both men rose from the bed, and began their routine. They showered, dressed, ate breakfast, and enjoyed each other’s company for as long as possible, stealing touches and kisses along the way.
It was as Tobio was packing that he couldn’t help himself. He wanted part of Daichi with him. He grabbed the sweater, his favourite of Daichi’s, and held it to his nose, breathing in deeply. “Would it be alright if I borrowed your sweater?” he asked, face still firmly enveloped in the fabric. “It smells like you.”
Tobio felt strong arms wrap around his waist, as Daichi’s cheek nuzzled into his neck. “Yes, love. You can borrow my sweater. As long as I can also borrow yours.”

Cal is a brat but I am still posting the thing I wrote from their suggestion
Daichi watches the man peer left and right a few times. He clearly thinks he’s being sneaky about what he’s doing.
“Officer Sawamura?” His radio crackles in his ear and he sighs.
“I’m here,” he replies softly into his mic. “I see the man in question. I’ll talk to him.”
He strolls along the path, taking his time and watching a few butterflies flutter around. This is pretty much the last thing he has to do today before his shift is up and he really wants nothing more than to go home and plant himself in front of his television for the rest of the weekend.
Okay that’s a lie. What he really wants is to go over to a certain gorgeous blue eyed former volleyball player’s very nice apartment and crash on his very comfy sofa and watch ridiculous movies on his ridiculously large television all weekend with said former volleyball player curled up next to Daichi half asleep because the adorable dork can’t stay awake for an entire movie to save his life. But he can’t. Because Kageyama isn’t even home this weekend and even if he were it wouldn’t matter because it’s not like Daichi and Kageyama are a thing or anything.
Which is fine. It’s cool.
Except he really kind of maybe wishes they were. Something, that is.
Anyway. He has a job to do.
He watches the man in front of him reach for some flowers. As soon as the man’s fingers wrap around the stem Daichi clears his throat.
“Excuse me, sir.” The man freezes and slowly looks over his shoulder, guilt scribbled across his face like a child’s crayon drawing. “You do realize that this is a public garden and the signs posted in multiple locations throughout prohibit the picking and removal of the flowers and plants within.”
Bokuto gives him a sheepish grin and scratches the back of his head nervously as he turns to face Daichi.
“Um,” he mumbles. “Uh. Would you believe me if I said I can’t read?”
“You can’t read,” Daichi repeats.
“Yeah. I’m colorblind.”
Daichi licks his lips and sighs. “You can’t read,” he says slowly, like it will somehow make more sense, “because you are colorblind?”
Bokuto nods enthusiastically.
Daichi gets paid well enough. He really does. And he enjoys his job as a police officer. But he does not get paid enough to deal with this.
He puts his hand on Bokuto’s shoulder and spins him to face the nearby park exit. “Take a left when you go out that exit. There’s a florist two blocks that way. The shop is called Sun’s Dawn. Tell them I sent you. Buy whatever bouquet you need to buy for your wife. Tell Hitoka I said hi when you go home. Don’t try to pick flowers from the public gardens again because I’d hate to have to explain to my former volleyball manager why I had to arrest her husband. Okay?” Daichi smiles tensely at Bokuto. Bokuto nods solemnly.
“Thanks Sawamura. You’re a lifesaver.” Daichi just nods and glances at his watch. He’ll have enough time to fill out the paperwork before he clocks out without looking like he’s dragging it out. Perfect.
He realizes Bokuto had still been talking to him only when Bokuto laughs softly and gives Daichi an expectant look.
“Sorry what were you saying Bokuto?”
“I asked if that’s where you go to buy flowers for Kageyama?”
If Daichi had been drinking anything he would have choked on it. He’s not. Which means he just chokes on his own breath and spit. Bokuto just watches him while he coughs and tries to clear away whatever is suddenly lodged in his throat.
“I don’t buy Kageyama flowers. Why would I? That’s a ridiculous question Bokuto.” Bokuto stares at him. “He’s just an old teammate.”
Bokuto nods sagely and starts for the exit.
“He might be more than just an old teammate if you bought him flowers,” Bokuto calls softly over his shoulder.
—
He’s stupid. Listening to Bokuto. He feels stupid. And ridiculous. And dumb. And foolish. And—
Kageyama opens his door and gives Daichi a confused look. He doesn’t blame him. It’s just past one in the afternoon and Kageyama had just gotten back from his flight maybe a half an hour ago and Daichi hadn’t called or anything and—
“Are you coming inside?” Kageyama glances back, already halfway back to his kitchen.
Daichi steps inside and toes off his shoes, tapping them against the wall with his foot and he decidedly does not think about how well they seem to fit sitting there right next to Kageyama’s. He heads for the kitchen and watches from the doorway as Kageyama unpacks a bag of groceries. He does not think about how graceful Kageyama manages to look even off the court doing such mundane things as putting away groceries and rinsing off an apple and taking a bite and stopping in front of Daichi and talking and—
“What?”
“I asked if you were okay. You look really uncomfortable. And you’re holding something behind your back like you’re not sure if I’m going to hate it or not.”
Kageyama gives him one of his little smiles, the silly, dorky ones that had stolen Daichi’s heart years ago and he can’t take it anymore. He shoves the bouquet of flowers into Kageyama’s chest and spins on his heel before he even sees Kageyama’s reaction. He only gets two steps away from the kitchen though because Kageyama’s long fingers wrap around his wrist and he stops immediately. Kageyama hasn’t played volleyball professionally for over two years yet Daichi swears he can feel each callus and roughened fingertip the same way he had when Kageyama had high-fived him after their last game together.
“You remembered?” He can feel his face heat up at the awe in Kageyama’s tone. Like this is the first time that anyone has ever remembered some small detail about him like the fact he loves sunflowers. He wants to scoff because this is just one of dozens, probably hundreds, of random things he knows and remembers about Kageyama. But he doesn’t.
Because Kageyama’s fingers are warm and he’s still holding Daichi’s wrist and when Daichi finally manages to look over his shoulder Kageyama is looking down at the flowers in his hand with the most open, awestruck, loving look in his eyes.
“I remembered,” Daichi replies softly. Kageyama’s eyes snap up and now it’s Daichi he’s looking at. Just as open and awestruck and loving.
“I’ve waited for you,” Kageyama whispers. “It’s silly and ridiculous and dumb. But.” He shrugs, gaze never leaving Daichi’s. “You taught me patience. A long time ago.”
Daichi’s heart clenches and his breath stutters in his chest and Kageyama tugs at his wrist until he tugs back and pulls Kageyama into a hug.
“Thank you,” Daichi says. “For being patient.”
“You’re worth it.”
Daichi, about Kageyama: I can’t imagine what he’s planning. But I can tell you two things. We won’t like it, and it won’t be legal.

Summary:
“Focus, Sawamura, focus. The twins aren’t here, nobody is. You’re alone, and relaxed and focused. You can do it, just focus…” he whispered to himself as he gave his body a rough shake, making sure to move every muscle and limb as he went from head to toe like his father had shown him. A roll of his neck, twitch of his facial features, stretch and roll of his shoulders as he wiggled his fingers and bent his arms before swinging them loosely.
It usually took him a few tries to begin to relax enough to let his magic flow properly but the excitement of today, the high of the win, and the sounds of his team celebrating still ringing in his ears beneath the echoes of his breathing was helping exponentially. As he twisted his torso and bent his knees gently he could already feel the building hum of his power beginning to surge alongside the blood in his veins.
Could I get either "when one person’s face is scrunched up, and the other one kisses their lips/nose/forehead" with Daichi/Kageyama, or "that thing where someone turns into an unexpected kiss, like there were turning around and the other person was just super close" with TsukkiKage? Whichever you prefer doing :D
I’m gonna do the other prompt at a later date but for now here’s your first one.
The thing about Kageyama wasn’t that he was hot, or adorable, or an athletic genius, or any of the wonderful things about him. The thing about Kageyama was that Daichi loved him, with all his heart. He loved him when he was sweet, and he loved him when he was angry. He loved him now, when he was frustrated and confused.
“I don’t get this, Daichi-san,” he whined - though he would never admit that it was a whine. Kageyama was a brave, brash, angry man who did not whine, under any circumstances.
“You just have to remember the order of operations,” Daichi told him gently. He scooted around to Kageyama’s side of the table and worked him through it. Kageyama still didn’t get it after twenty minutes of gentle reminders and soft guidance, and Daichi was beginning to feel his frustration. Kageyama looked to him with his face all scrunched up in defeat, and Daichi couldn’t help it. He leaned up and kissed Kageyama on the wrinkle between his brows.
Kageyama’s face relaxed into surprise and Daichi bit back a giggle. He leaned up to kiss Kageyama’s nose and got a startled little noise out of him.
It was new, this thing between them, and Daichi was pretty sure Kageyama didn’t expect it to continue. He knew Kageyama’s insecurities, how he expected everyone to leave him eventually. It had been a hell of a fight when Daichi had decided to stay in Miyagi for college, Kageyama convinced that he was missing out on something bigger out of pity alone. Daichi had held him through the screaming as it turned into crying and then into a quiet confession and its reply. Daichi was pretty sure Kageyama was still waiting for him to leave.
So Daichi did the only thing he could think to do. He stayed. He stayed with Kageyama as he finished his homework, and as he ate dinner in his empty apartment, and as he got ready for bed. He curled up under the covers with Kageyama and kissed him gently until his face eased into comfort.
“I love you,” he whispered, and kissed Kageyama’s brow as it started to furrow again. “I know you don’t believe me yet. But someday you will.”
“Good night, Daichi-san,” Kageyama said, and Daichi heard it for what it was, an I-love-you in return. He smiled.
“Good night, Tobio,” he said.
